Some previous researches suggested a transit trip destination inference method by constructing trip chains with incomplete(missing destination) smart card dataset obtained on the entry fare control systems. To explore the feasibility of the transit trip destination inference method, the transit trip chains are constructed from the pre-paid smart card tagging data collected in Busan on October 2014 weekdays by tracing the card IDs, tagging times(boarding, alighting, transfer), and the trip linking distances between two consecutive transit trips in a daily sequences. Assuming that most trips in the transit trip chains are linked successively, the individual transit trip destination zones are inferred as the consecutive linking trip's origin zones. Applying the model to the complete trips with observed OD reveals that about 82% of the inferred trip destinations are the same as those of the observed trip destinations and the inference error defined as the difference in distance between the inferred and observed alighting stops is minimized when the trip linking distance is less than or equal to 0.5km. When applying the model to the incomplete trips with missing destinations, the overall destination missing rate decreases from 71.40% to 21.74% and approximately 77% of the destination missing trips are the single transit trips for which the destinations can not be inferable. In addition, the model remarkably reduces the destination missing rate of the multiple incomplete transit trips from 69.56% to 6.27%. Spearman's rank correlation and Chi-squared goodness-of-fit tests showed that the ranks for transit trips of each zone are not significantly affected by the inferred trips, but the transit trip distributions only using small complete trips are significantly different from those using complete and inferred trips. Therefore, it is concluded that the model should be applicable to derive a realistic transit trip patterns in cities with the incomplete smart card data.
This paper addresses the inventory rationing issue embedded in the regional supply chain inventory replenishment problem (RSIRP). The concerned supply chain, which was fed by the national supply chain, consisted of a single warehouse distributing a single product to multiple stores (M-stores) with independent and normally distributed customer demand. It was assumed that the supply chain operated under the order-up-to level inventory replenishment system and had only one truck at the regional warehouse. The truck could make one replenishment trip to one store per period (a round trip per period). Based on current inventories and the vehicle constraint, the warehouse must make two decisions in each period: which store in the region to replenish and what was the replenishment quantity? The objective was to position inventories so as to minimize lost sales in the region. The warehouse inventory was replenished in every fixed-interval from a source outside the region, but the store inventory could be replenished daily. The truck destination (store) in each period was selected based on its maximum expected shortage. The replenishment quantity was then determined based on the predetermined order-up-to level system. In case of insufficient warehouse inventories to fulfill all projected store demands, an inventory rationing rule must be applied. In this paper, a new inventory rationing rule named Expected Cost Minimization (ECM) was proposed based on the practical purpose. The numerical results based on real data from a selective industry show that its performance was better and more robust than the current practice and other sharing rules in the existing literature.

While transit is inconvenient, it is also inevitable for the efficient public transportation. Reducing the number of transfers as much as possible is most important in providing the convenience of public transportation and facilitating the public transportation. As for the public transportation card data, 61,986 items on weekdays and 69,100 items on weekends were collected. Pattern analysis and traffic influence factors were analyzed using traffic data card. Trip chain results revealed that people have more transit transfers for shopping and leasure than commuting purposes on weekends and that commuting distance and time increase by 10 km and 9.9 minutes, respectively. Besides, results of the structural equation model showed that factor 1(total travel time, total travel distance), factor 2(number of people getting on and off), factor 3(transit time), and factor 4(number of bus connections, number of operations) were found to have significant effects on the number of transfers.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the travel characteristics of freight trucks in metropolitan areas, focusing on activity generation, destination choice, and trip chaining behaviors. The results showed that the number of service companies at departure areas has a primary influence on the activity generation pattern and destination choice behavior of trucks in metropolitan areas. The number of trips within a trip chain is largest, in case where the prevailing industry in destination areas is wholesale or retail and the shipment item is food or beverage. These results imply that for the reasonable estimation of truck travel demand both the trip chaining behaviors and the industrial compositions in departure and destination areas should be separately considered for each type of commodity.

The current research aims at classifying the bus stops as transfer center in order to establish the rational bus transfer systems. Existing research typically identifies characteristics of demands for bus stops and land use surrounding the bus stops and classifies and profiles the bus stops. A common problem with this type of research is that the results with cross-sectional characteristics of land use and bus stop usage do not capture the details of trip chain, the fundamental characteristics of the trips with transfer. This paper therefore examines bus stop classifications with such variables as transport mode chains, intermediate stop chains and timing chains. The analysis on the data collected on Monday 20 April 2009 for passengers of Gyeong-gi bus results in a clear classification among bus stops in terms of such trip chain variables. The research would provide useful information for the decision support of transfer stops location choice and infrastructure design.

The rapid changes of family structure such as singles, working couples and so on have effects on a travel behaviour. One of the characteristics from this is the increasing portion of trip-chain, in which plural activities were conducted in a "single outgoing" travel. Therefore travel must be considered as location change to conduct various activities instead of pursuing single travel purpose. This paper specifies a behavioral homogeneous person group by a job, a possession of cars. Based on this classification of person groups and their activity diary, the sequence, time and travel mode of activities in a day can be verified. As a case study household survey was conducted in city Kongju. The survey result shows that the classification of behavioral homogeneous person group based on criteria like employment status and car ownership bring a good result to forecast trip generation in traffic zone.

As the development of ICT has made it easier to collect various traffic information, research on creating new traffic attributes is drawing attention. Estimation and forecasts of demand and traffic volume are one of the main indicators that are essential to traffic operation, assuming that the traffic pattern at a particular node or link is repeated. Traditionally, a survey method was used to demonstrate this similarity on trip behavior. However, the method was limited to achieving high accuracy with high costs and responses that relied on the respondents' memory. Recently, as traffic data has become easier to gather through ETC system, smart card, studies are performed to identify the regularity of trip in various ways. In, this study, route-level trip data collected in Daegu metropolitan city were analyzed to confirm that individual traveler forms a spatially similar trip chain over several days. For this purpose, we newly define the concept of spatial trip regularity and assess the spatial difference between daily trip chains using the sequence alignment algorithm, Dynamic Time Warping. In addition, we will discuss the applications as the indicators of fixed traffic demand and transportation services.
Park and Ride(P&R) system has not implemented it's intended object in Seoul metropolitan area, still less it didn't impact on diminishing the ridership of urban railway. This paper is focused on analysis of Park and Rail ride user survey of travel behavior and trip chain. We propose the ideal location of P&R in Seoul and stratagies to increase the utilization of P&R.

This research is motivated by the question, "Where, when, and through what mode does an individual passenger moving within a subway station use to travel from starting to final destinations ?" To answer this, the stations passed by the individual passenger, the path taken, and modes used need to be known beforehand. In the metropolitan integrated public transportation fare system, Automated Fare Collection System(AFC) can be a source of information on transit modes, stations, and paths of individual passengers. AFC calculates a fare for the passenger based on travel data such as boarding and alighting stations, time, and mode used. In this research, an Selected Station Analysis(SSA) method, in which AFC data is used to observe passenger movement in the metropolitan public transportation subway station from the perspective of subway transfer stations, is proposed. SSA subdivides individual passenger movement in transfer stations and analyzes initial station/time and final destination station/time information using the trip chain perspective.
The operating principal of a ring laser gyroscope depends on the phase difference for the counter-propagating waves within a closed path. The reflecting mirrors mounted on the monoblock form the traveling waves. The manufacturing accuracy of the monoblock influences the traveling path of ray, the sensitivity of laser resonator for misalignments, and diffraction losses. A 3 $\times$ 3 ray transfer matrix was derived for optical components with centering and squaring errors in a ring resonator. The matrix can be utilized to predict the optical ray paths on the basis of the manufacturing errors of the monoblock as well as the misalignment of mirrors. Then the distance and orientation (o. slope) at the arbitrary plane inside the resonator along the ideal optical path can be calculated from the chain multiplication of the ray transfer matrix for each optical component in one round trip. We also show that the counter-propagating rays In a ring resonator with errors does not coincide in each round trip, which results in gain difference between two beams, and how these errors can be adjusted through the alignment procedure. Finally this 3 $\times$ 3 ray matrix formalism can be used to calculate the beam size and its displacement from the optical axis and the deviation at the diaphragm.
