  • Investigating the trend of online gamers plays an important role in forecasting, marketing and making policy decision in gaming industry. In this regards, various studies on gamers' trend and characteristics have been conducted. However, these precedent studies show limitation that they're static analysis since they are usually based on the surveys at a certain point. Therefore, this paper aims to identify some implications on forthcoming directions of gaming industry by analyzing dynamic trend of gamers based on the 8 years(from 2002 to 2009) of data from White Paper on Korean Games. Major implications found in this paper are as follows. Negative perception of games increases as the number of gamers increases. Among juveniles, games became a substitute for TV and the amount of time they play games depends on the existence and type of popular games of that time. Also, most item trading is intensively done by a small number of gamers.

  • Prior studies on technology predictions attempted to predict the emergence and spread of emerging technologies through the analysis of correlations and changes between data using objective data such as patents and research papers. Most of the previous studies predicted future technologies only from the viewpoint of technology development. Therefore, this study intends to conduct technical forecasting from the perspective of the consumer by using keyword search frequency of search portals such as NAVER before and after the introduction of emerging technologies. In this study, we analyzed healthcare technologies into three types : measurement technology, platform technology, and remote service technology. And for the keyword analysis on the healthcare, we converted the classification of technology perspective into the keyword classification of consumer perspective. (Blood pressure and blood sugar, healthcare diagnosis, appointment and prescription, and remote diagnosis and prescription) Naver Trend is used to analyze keyword trends from a consumer perspective. We also used the ARIMA model as a technology prediction model. Analyzing the search frequency (Naver trend) over 44 months, the final ARIMA models that can predict three types of healthcare technology keyword trends were estimated as "ARIMA (1,2,1) (1,0,0)", "ARIMA (0,1,0) (1,0,0)", "ARIMA (1,1,0) (0,0,0)". In addition, it was confirmed that the values predicted by the time series prediction model and the actual values for 44 months were moving in almost similar patterns in all intervals. Therefore, we can confirm that this time series prediction model for healthcare technology is very suitable.

Background: The effects of changing posture on the human body have been studied to find out healthy sitting postures. It is believed that changing posture is effective in reducing disc pressure on spinal cord and preventing back pain and musculoskeletal disease. But, the definition of DS and trends of DC have not been researched yet. Therefore, trend analysis of DC and its applied technologies are required to define dynamic sitting posture. Method: We researched the type of occupant postures from previous studies. And then, sitting behaviors were classified into three types; (1) sitting and standing, (2) working and studying, (3) taking a rest. Results: Variety shapes of DC and applied technologies were found out. From the result, the trend of DC and applied technology were summarized from three perspectives. ; (1) changing the chair functions according to user's intention, (2) conversion of dynamic chair technologies to office chair mechanism, (3) enables the user to change their sitting posture without operating control device. Conclusion: From this study, we defined dynamic sitting posture and analyzed the trend of DC and its applied technologies. This result might be used to develop an office chair for healthy sitting. But further investigation is required to figure out the technologies and functions for development of healthy chair. Application: The results of the publishing trend analysis might help to determine design concept of office chair.

  • This study analyzed Korean middle-aged men's fashionable styles according to ageless trends as their representative characteristic and deriving their special features from men's magazines. Literature and case studies were conducted together. The research findings are as follows. First, it showed uniformity, conformity, passive clothing selection and consumption in 1990s as characteristics of middle-aged men's wear by period. However, clothing became an expressive way to pursue individuality and an ageless trend gradually, and middle-aged men positioned themselves as subjects of a consumer market for men's wear after 2010 through active clothing selection and consumption. Second, along with a trend change preferring a comfortable and active to formal atmosphere, it showed that casual style became diversified and segmented gradually in Korean middle-aged men's ageless trend and fashionable style. Third, as for formative characteristic changes in middle-aged men's fashionable style by period, it contained a slim silhouette, bright and splendid colors and patterns, increase of light, active and functional materials, generalization of casual items and pursuit of individuality by various mix & match styles. Fourth, in Korean men's ageless trend and changing fashionable style, four kinds of special characteristics were derived that included a change of the traditional clothing symbolism, weakened conformity & pursuit of personality, obscured boundaries between age and wearing style, and active embracing of a trend.

  • There is only limited evidence for the association between fruit and vegetable consumption and mental health in Korea. This study examined the relationship between fruit and vegetable consumption and mental health according to physical activity among Korean adult women. Based on data of the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2014-2016), a total of 5,332 participants were included in this analysis. With increasing fruits and vegetables consumption, the prevalence of depressive mood was significantly decreased (p for trend=0.0248). The prevalence of stress perception (p for trend=0.0422) and the prevalence of depressive mood (p for trend=0.0300) were decreased with increasing fruit consumption. The prevalence of depressive mood was significantly decreased when fruit and vegetable consumption (p for trend=0.0370) and fruit consumption (p for trend=0.0356) were increased for those Korean women with low intensity of physical activity. For the obesity group (Body mass index 25 kg/㎡), the prevalence of depressive mood was decreased with increasing fruit and vegetable consumption (p for trend=0.0111) and increasing fruit consumption (p for trend=0.0165). In conclusion, fruit and vegetable consumption were associated with mental health according to physical activity among Korean adult women. Further prospective studies are warranted to explore the association between fruit and vegetable consumption and mental health among Korean adult women.

  • Objectives: Even though experimental studies have suggested that iron can be involved in generating oxidative stress, epidemiologic studies on the association of markers of body iron stores with cardiovascular disease or cancer remain controversial. This study was performed to examine the association of serum ferritin and transferrin saturation (%TS) with all-cause, cancer, and cardiovascular mortality. Methods: The study subjects were men aged 50 years or older and postmenopausal women of the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1988-1994. Participants were followed-up for mortality through December 31, 2006. Results: Serum ferritin was not associated with all-cause, cancer, or cardiovascular mortality for either men or postmenopausal women. However, all-cause, cancer, and cardiovascular mortality were inversely associated with %TS in men. Compared with men in the lowest quintile, adjusted hazard ratios for all-cause, cancer, and cardiovascular mortality were 0.85, 0.86, 0.76, and 0.74 ($p$ for trend < 0.01), 0.82, 0.73, 0.75, and 0.63 ($p$ for trend < 0.01), and 0.86, 0.81, 0.72, and 0.76 ($p$ for trend < 0.01), respectively. For postmenopausal women, inverse associations were also observed for all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, but cancer mortality showed the significantly lower mortality only in the 2nd quintile of %TS compared with that of the 1st quintile. Conclusions: Unlike speculation on the role of iron from experimental studies, %TS was inversely associated with allcause, cancer and cardiovascular mortality in men and postmenopausal women. On the other hand, serum ferritin was not associated with all-cause, cancer, or cardiovascular mortality.

  • Advance development of the internet has brought significant changes to the distribution structure of the fashion industry, resulting in decreased sales in Road shops and sudden growth of online fashion specialty shopping malls. As detailed analysis on internet fashion shopping malls is necessary in order to make a future projection on changes in the fashion industry, this thesis aims to study the color, fabric / pattern, silhouette, item / detail, image, etc of 2008 S/S apparel fashion style sold in the top ten shopping malls, selected in terms of sales volume and awareness. The results were further analyzed to characterize each individual shopping malls, upon which the design was compared with the five main trends for the season provided by three fashion research agencies in order to study the level of trend acceptance. Studies showed that 'Romantic Sake' trend was most widely accepted, followed by 'Eco Nature' which most reflected the characteristics of Spring. 'Modern Ethenic' trend was most aggressively accepted at more upscale shopping malls targeting older demographic, while " Play Urban' was highly accepted by shopping malls specializing in young casual. Due to the disadvantage of not being able to try on the items before purchase, styles following the 'City Luxe' trend featuring fitted suits showed the lowest trend acceptance. Amongst the design elements, color was most widely accepted.

  • The fused LASSO signal approximator (FLSA) can be applied to find change points from the data having piecewise constant mean structure. It is well-known that the FLSA is inconsistent in change points detection. This inconsistency is due to a total-variation denoising penalty of the FLSA. ℓ1 trend filter, one of the popular tools for finding an underlying trend from data, can be used to identify change points of piecewise linear trends. Since the ℓ1 trend filter applies the sum of absolute values of slope differences, it can be inconsistent for change points recovery as the FLSA. However, there are few studies on the inconsistency of the ℓ1 trend filtering. In this paper, we demonstrate the inconsistency of the ℓ1 trend filtering with a numerical study.

  • The government continuously increases cigarette price to reduce the smoking rates. Opinions of cigarette makers and Ministry of Health and Welfare on the effect of cigarette price hike are sharply opposed. This dispute is important because there is possibility of additional increase of cigarette price by 500 won. Therefore, as an inquiry into existing studies for the effect of cigarette price hike on tobacco product, namely analysis of the effect of cigarette price hike consumption, we empirically analyzed the effect of cigarette excise tax hike through establishing improved analytic models considering time trend. As a result, it is substantiated that time trend in the effect of cigarette excise tax hike is certainly exist and early impact is heavy. However, the amount of cigarette consumption is recovered to the level of the average in 5 months. Since it is proved that the long term effect of cigarette price hike is immaterial, health authority should reconsider the plan of additional raising cigarette price by 500 won.
