A Novel Synthesis of Heterocyclic Compounds Containing Coumarin Moiety of Potential Antimicrobial Activity

  • The chemical behaviours of 4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-benzopyran-7-yl oxoacetyl hydrazine (2) towards some different reagents such as anhydride compounds, aromatic aldehydes, carb on disulphide, and nitrous acid yielded the corresponding pathalazine derivatives (3, 4, 5), hydrazone derivative (6), 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivative (7, 8, 9) and acid azide (10) respectively. Treatmen of 10 with absolute alcohols, amines and ethyl amino acid ester gave the corresponding carbamate derivative (11), substituted urea derivative (12) and ethyl substituted alkyl acetate (13) respectively. The biological activity of some synthesized compounds was evaluated.

폐경기 이후 여성의 슬통 양상과 뜸시술에 관한 설문 (Clinical Features of Knee Pain of Female after Menopausal and Survey Method for Moxibustion Treatment)

  • Objectives : This study was accomplished to find out clinical features of knee pain of female after menopausal and their recognition of moxibustion treatment. Methods : Before and after 8 times moxibustion treatment(mostly 2 times a weak), survey was done. Moxibustion treatment was done on painful location, 3 times per each point. Results & Conclusions : Other symptom with Knee pain was Click 30.8 %, stiffness 25.6 %, press pain 16.7 %, swelling 14.1 %, fever 5.1 %, none 7.7 %. VAS of moxibustion treatment is significantly increased after treatment. Expectation of moxibustion treatmen is not. "Bad smell" is the first cause of evasion of moxibustion therapy. It should have been considered to reduce bad smell in development of moxibustion.

$CO_2$ 저장용 Sepiolite의 고온 열화학처리 및 특성평가 (High Temperature Thermochemical Treatment and Characterization of Sepiolite for $CO_2$ Storage)

  • Sepiolite was selected as a mineral carbonation candidate ore for carbon dioxide sequestration. Carbonation salt formation from alkaline earth metal ingredient needs to dehydroxylation of sepiolite at high temperature. An evident dehydroxylation was observed over $800^{\circ}C$ and the variations of sepiolite characteristics after high temperature treatment was synthetically evaluated. Remarkable weight loss were measured after high temperature thermochemical reaction then crystallographic and spectroscopic changes were analyzed. The resulted alkaline earth metal oxides could explained by dehydroxylation based on thermochemical reaction.

  • In this paper, We have studied internal quality incluiding chemical compositions, microscopic structure and nonmetalic inclusion of test material. We have analyzed dynamic characteristics of cutting resistence and compared chip treatment of the test material. In analyzing internal quality, all of the test material have typical ferrite+pearlite structure. But, nonmetallic inclusion has oxide and sulfide inclusion has oxide and sulfide inclusion in medium carbon steel, mainly sulfide inclusion is existed in S-free cutting steel. In Ca+S-free cutting steel, calcium aluminate and sulfide complex inclusion, had low-melting point, as deformation of sulfide and oxide inclusion is existed. Machining characteristics, cutting resistence is maximum in medium carbon steel. Chip treatement are excellent in S-free cutting steel, similar to the Ca+S free cutting steel and medium carbon steel.

신경근 전기자극이 뇌졸중 환자의 주관절 굴곡근 경직에 미치는 영향 (The effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation on the spasticity of elbow flexor in stroke patients)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of neuromuscular electrical stimulation(NMES) on the spasticity of elbow flexor. Ten spastic hemiplegia who have been at EUL-JI medical college hospital in Taejon with age range of 35 to 70 years$(56.8\pm9.5)$, were participated in this study. The subjects (5male, 5female) took neuromuscular electrical stimulation therapy on the triceps of the affected elbow. To compare the effect of the treatment, the grade of spasticity of affected elbow flexor was measured at pre-treatment and the end of each weeks using modified Ashworth scale. Then, the range of extension of the affected elbow was measured at pre-treatmen and the end of each weeks using full circle goniometer. The data were analyzed with ANOVA to determine significant differences with the passage of time. The results were as follows: 1. ANOVA test showed significant differences in reducing spasticity of NMES group with the passage of time (p<.01). 2. ANOVA test showed significant differences in increasing range of motion with the passage of time of NMES group(p<.01). The neuromuscular electrical stimulation is a effective method to reduce the spasticity of elbow flexor.

수소유기에 따른 Pd-Co합금들의 상 분리 현상에 대한 열역학적 고찰 (Thermodynamics of Hydrogen-Induced Phase Separation on Pd-Co Alloys)

  • It is very interesting and important in the academic point of view and in practical use the hydrogen-induced phase separation(HIPS) which appears during hydrogen heat treatment. Since hydrogen can be removed very fast by pumping it out the hydrogen-induced new lattice phase which can not be obtained without hydrogen can be preserved as meta-stable state. In this study it has been investigated whether the HIPS appear in Pd-Al, Pd-Co, Pd-Cr, Pd-Ti, Pd-V and Pd-Zr alloys and discussed thermodynamic representation of the HIPS. The Pd alloys were arc-melted under argon atmosphere and remelted 4 or 5 times for homogenization. The alloys were annealed at 600$^{\circ}C$ under vacuum for 24 hrs and then subjected to pressure-composition isotherm measurements at 100$^{\circ}C$. The hydrogen heat treatment(HHT) of samples was carried out at 600$^{\circ}C$ under hydrogen pressure of 70 bar for 6 days and PC isotherms at 100$^{\circ}C$ were measured. By comparing the PC isotherms measured before and after HHT, occurrence of phase separation was determined. The experimental results showed that the HIPS appeared only in Pd-0.05Co alloy. For Pd-Co alloys with various composition the PC isotherms were measured. By adopting Park-Flanagan model for ternary thermodynamics the Gibbs free energy change for Pd-Co-H solid solution was calculated and subsequently with this the HIPS in Pd-Co alloy was explained fairly.

요통환자(腰痛患者)의 홍화약침치료(紅花藥針治療)에 대한 임상적(臨床的) 연구(硏究) (Clinical Study on Effect of Carthmi- Flos Herbal acupuncture therapy to Low back pain patient)

  • Objective : To compare the effect of Carthmi- Flos herbal acupuncture theraphy and acupucture treatment to Low back pain patient. Methods : 70 patients with Low back pain are evaluated by being divided Carthmi- Flos herbal acupuncture theraphy Group(HAG, 30 peples) and non- Carthmi- Flos herbal acupuncture theraphy Group(NHAG, 40 peoples) at Ik-San Oriental medical hospital in wonkwang university from the first November 2000yr to 31th December 2001yr. Results : 1. In the cause of Low back pain, the most of HAG is acute sprain(9cases, 30%) and NHAG is non-inducement(13 cases, 22.5%). 2. In the analysis of the radiation result, HIVD and Degenerative change respectively were 22 cases(50%) in HAG and 29 cases(52.8 %) in NHAG. 3. The effect of treatment by Duration as follows :Two groups were the most improved highly in acute stage and they were improved lowly in chronic stage(6 month). 4. The effect of treatment by condition of patients was follows: After treatment, Grade IV & III were decreased 69.5% in HAG and 60% in NHAG. 5. In the distribution of treatment progression : 28 cases(93.3%) were recoverd in HAG but 30 cases(90%) in NHAG. Conclusion : These results shows that the effect of treatment by Carthmi- Flos herbal acupuncture treatmen is exellent by relaxing contracted muscles, strengthening weakened ligaments and improving inflammatory parts.

미세결정셀룰로오스의 제조를 위한 억새 바이오매스의 처리 및 특성연구 (Study of Preparation and Characterization of Microcrystalline cellulose from Miscanthus sinensis)

  • Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was prepared from Miscanthus in this study. Two pulping methods, soda pulping and alkaline sulfite pulping were applied as a pretreatment process. After pulping, two different bleaching processes such as $ClO_2$ treatment followed by $H_2O_2$ treatment and $O_3$ treatment followed by $H_2O_2$ treatment were carried out. Two concentration of $H_2SO_4$, 47% and 57% were applied to the purified Miscanthus cellulose as a acid hydrolysis process to make MCC. The crystallinity index and morphological properties of the produced MCC were evaluated with X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy. The MCC originated from the soda pulping sample showed the higher crystallinity index than that originated from the alkaline sulfite pulping sample. The two stages of treatmen twith $O_3$ and $H_2O_2$ resulted in the higher purified cellulose products.

해수를 사용한 MICP 기술의 연안 지반 개량시 발생하는 특성 분석 (Characteristic of Coastal Soil Improvement by MICP Technology Using Sea Water)

  • 최근 지구온난화 등으로 인하여 지구의 평균해수면이 상승하는 추세이다. 삼면이 바다인 국내의 경우 연안침식이 초래되어 국토 손실 및 연안의 위험성을 높일 가능성이 있다. 미생물에 의한 탄산칼슘 형성(MICP) 기술은 미생물에 의한 탄산칼슘침강 기술이며, 지반의 강성과 강도를 증진시키는 친환경적 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 연안 침식 저감을 위하여 MICP 기술을 제안하였다. 연안 조건을 고려하여 용매로 해수를 사용하고 탈염수와 그 성능을 비교하였다. 탈염수와 해수 조건하에서 미생물에 의한 요소분해능을 조사하였다. 소일칼럼을 제작하여 MICP 처리된 모래의 강도 평가를 실시하였다. MICP 처리는 표면살포법에 의해 처리되었는데, 이러한 방식은 기존의 혼합 방식과 달라 전통적인 강도 평가 방식은 적절하지 않음을 확인하였다. 미세 구조 분석을 통해 다른 용매가 사용된 경우의 광물적 변화를 관측하였다. 실험 결과, 해수는 미생물에 의한 요소분해 반응을 느리게 만드는 것을 확인하였다. 표면 경화된 모래는 침관입시험을 통해 효과적으로 평가할 수 있었다. 이 연구에서는 해수를 용매로 사용하여도 탈염수 수준으로 충분히 MICP 기술 적용이 가능함을 확인하였다.

Effect of Pioglitazone on Production of Regulated upon Activation Normal T-cell Expressed and Secreted (RANTES) and IVF Outcomes in Infertile Women with Endometriosis

  • This study was performed to investigate the effect of peroxisome proliferators activated receptor-${\gamma}$ (PPAR-${\gamma}$) ligand, pioglitazone, on production of regulated upon activation normal T-cell expressed and secreted (RANTES) and in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcome in infertile patients with endometriosis. Sixty-four infertile patients with stage III or IV endometriosis undergoing IVF were randomly allocated to the study or the control group. The long protocol of GnRH agonist (GnRH-a) was used for controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) in all patients. Patients in the study group were treated with pioglitazone at a dose of 15 mg/day orally from the starting day of GnRH-a treatment to the day of hCG injection. Blood samples were drawn for serologic assay of RANTES on the first day of GnRH-a treatment and the day of hCG injection. There were no differences between the study and control groups in patient characteristics. There were also no differences between the two groups in COS duration, and the numbers of retrieved oocytes, fertilized oocytes and embryos transferred. The clinical pregnancy rate per cycle was higher in the study group, but this difference was not statistically significant. However, embryo implantation rate was significantly higher in the study group of 12.5% compared with 8.6% in the control group (P<0.05). The serum RANTES levels after pioglitazone treatment were significantly lower than those before pioglitazone treatmen in the study group (P<0.05). Our data suggest that pioglitazone treatment can suppress RANTES production and improve the embryo implantation rate in patients with endometriosis undergoing IVF.
