A Study on Smart Trash Can and User UX Designs: A Software Engineering Approach for Health Care

  • In this study, a function that informs the trash can users about daily collectable trash types and the visiting schedule of collection trucks with an application-based push alarms is proposed along with other function that lets the user to receive the information regarding the volume of trash cans located near his/her residence and monthly average trash volume once the user registers his/her personal information online. This functions are used for the UX design between smart trash can and users. The proposed system allows trash collection trucks to find the most efficient path from their current positions by finding out users' trash can volumes in advance. The UX design and the smart trash can system proposed in this study aim to improve the trash processing efficiency by allowing users to check the volume of their trash.

사물인터넷 기반의 스마트 휴지통 (IoT(Internet of Things)-based Smart Trash Can)

  • 본 논문은 사물인터넷 기반의 스마트 휴지통에 관한 연구이다. 현대 사회에서 쓰레기 처리는 여러 사회 문제를 일으킨다. 특히 유동인구가 많은 주말의 도심에서 쓰레기 처리 용량이 쓰레기 배출량을 따라가지 못해 문제가 발생하고 있다. 넘쳐나는 쓰레기로 악취가 발생하고, 미관을 해지고, 벌레가 생기는 등의 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 스마트 휴지통을 제안하였다. 제안된 스마트 휴지통은 쓰레기 압축 기능, 휴지통 자동 개폐 기능, 쓰레기양 표시기능, 휴지통 모니터링 및 제어 기능을 제공한다. 제안된 스마트 휴지통은 유동인구가 많은 옥외의 쓰레기 처리에 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

TOD: Trash Object Detection Dataset

  • In this paper, we produce Trash Object Detection (TOD) dataset to solve trash detection problems. A well-organized dataset of sufficient size is essential to train object detection models and apply them to specific tasks. However, existing trash datasets have only a few hundred images, which are not sufficient to train deep neural networks. Most datasets are classification datasets that simply classify categories without location information. In addition, existing datasets differ from the actual guidelines for separating and discharging recyclables because the category definition is primarily the shape of the object. To address these issues, we build and experiment with trash datasets larger than conventional trash datasets and have more than twice the resolution. It was intended for general household goods. And annotated based on guidelines for separating and discharging recyclables from the Ministry of Environment. Our dataset has 10 categories, and around 33K objects were annotated for around 5K images with 1280×720 resolution. The dataset, as well as the pre-trained models, have been released at https://github.com/jms0923/tod.

흐름중 부유쓰레기 차단막에 작용하는 장력계산 (Tension calculation on trash curtain in current)

  • 본 논문에서는 현수선 모델에 기초를 둔 해석방법을 사용하여 부유쓰레기 차단막에 작용하는 흐름에 의한 장력 및 항력을 계산하였다. 흐름에 의한 항력우 차단막의 법선방향으로만 작동하여 차단막에 걸리는 장력은 일정하다고 가정하였다. 계산 모델로 차단막이 흐름방향과 대칭으로 설치된 경우와 비대칭으로 설치된 경우를 다루었다. 형상계수와 설치각도와 같은 차단막의 설치형상을 바꿔가면서 차단막에 작용하는 장력과 항력의 변화를 살펴보았다 계산 결과는 형상계수가 증가함에 따라 장력계수도 커지며 형상계수가 큰 범위에서는 장력계수의 증가폭이 커짐을 보여주고 있다 또한 차단막을 흐름방향과 비대칭으로 설치하였을 때 경사각도를 증가시키면 장력계수가 줄어든다는 사실을 발견하였다 계산모델은 한강 지류인 탄천에 설치한 길이 200m의 부유쓰레기 차단막에 적용하였다. 계산결과에 의하면 차단막 양 끝단에 설치한 앵커블록이 견딜 수 있는 최대 흐름속도는 2m/sec이다.

  • 최근 IT기술의 발전에 힘입어 사람이 생활하는 환경에 IT기술들이 스며들고, 환경적 요소와 융합하는 아이디어와 기술들이 나날이 발전하고 있다. 이러한 기술들은 사람들의 생활환경에 도움을 주는 역할을 하고 있으며, 앞으로의 초연결사회의 필수 구성 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 IT기술을 환경적 요소와 융합하여 활용하는 동시에 더욱 쾌적한 환경을 만들 수 있는 WiT(WiFi Trashcan)를 제안한다. WiT는 쓰레기통에 쓰레기를 넣으면 WiFi를 무료로 제공해주는 쓰레기통이다. WiFi와 Trash-can을 합성한 WiT(WiFi Trashcan)는 사람이 쓰레기를 넣었을 때, 투입 여부 및 부피를 감지하여 쓰레기를 버린 사용자에게 WiFi를 무료로 제공해주는 시스템이다. 쓰레기를 감지하기 위해 초음파 센서를 사용하고, 쓰레기의 무게를 측정하기 위해 무게 센서를 사용한다. 그리고 파이썬 프로그래밍을 통해 측정된 센서 값을 라즈베리파이에 전송하여, WiFi 제공시간을 결정한다. WiT는 아두이노와 라즈베리파이를 활용하여 설계 및 구현되었다.

  • Trash or garbage is one of the most dangerous health and environmental problems that affect pollution. Pollution affects nature, human life, and wildlife. In this paper, we propose modern solutions for cleaning the environment of trash pollution by enforcing strict action against people who dump trash inappropriately on streets, outside the home, and in unnecessary places. Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially Deep Learning (DL), has been used to automate and solve issues in the world. We availed this as an excellent opportunity to develop a system that identifies trash using a deep convolutional neural network (CNN). This paper proposes a real-time garbage identification system based on a deep CNN architecture with eight distinct classes for the training dataset. After identifying the garbage, the CCTV camera captures a video of the individual placing the trash in the incorrect location and sends an alert notice to the relevant authority.

Dark Sides of Engaging in Fan Community of Human Brand

  • People enthusiastic about human brands eagerly engage in fan communities to share their common interests with others. Although sharing one's enthusiasm towards the same celebrities can give thempositive senses of we-ness (in-group identity, togetherness, camaraderie) and belongingness, negative sides also exist such as schadenfreude and trash talk. Even though the studies addressing the negative sides of fan community are gaining significance, no prior studies formally examined the negative consequences of engaging in a fan community and their effect on one's well-being. Therefore, this current study aims to investigate how engaging in fan community negatively affects members' psychological well-being through schadenfreude and trash talk. Structural equation modeling analysis revealed that engaging highly in a fan community leads members to feel malicious pleasure at rivals' misfortunes and share negative opinions of rival human brands and fan communities. These negative consequences of fan community engagement ultimately lead to a lower level of psychological wellbeing, especially in the area of personal growth whereas fan community engagement has a direct positive effect on personal growth. By showing the negative influences of engaging in fan communities on members' well-being through schadenfreude and trash talk, the results of this study are expected to add depth to the existing literature.

  • This study was carried out to simulate the change of various properties of recycled water when zero-discharge system was applied to a KOCC recycling process. contaminants such as chemical oxygen demand, anionic trash, and calcium hardness were gradually increased in the process water as the recycling was repeated . Especially, the increase of anionic trash and COD were closely related to the starch derived from corrugating adhesive in KOCC. Four kinds of water were compared in the preparation of handsheet to evaluate the performance of retention program. Waters used in this work were laboratory tab water, process water from Dong-II mill and the same one treated by UASB process, and closed white water prepared by KRICT. The result revealed that one the major factors fro reducing a retention power was the anioni trash accumulated in the recycled water.

국립공원 방문자의 환경훼손행위 관리를 위한 방송프로그램의 효과에 관한 연구 (Effectiveness of Mass Communication Program for Managing Visitors' Depreciative Behavior in National Park)

  • The purposes of this study was : 1) to describe the theoretical background of Clean-up Time Movement managing visitors' depreciative behavior ; 2) to test the effectiveness of a mass communication program, Clean-up Time Movement in National Park. This study employed a field experimental design (Multiple time-series design) in Naejangsan National Park. This study evaluated the differential effectiveness of the self-developed Clean-up Time Movement Program to reduce littering behavior between Control groups (Those who not received Clean-up Time Program) and Treatment groups (Those who received Clean-up Time Program) by weighting trash gathered in a litter box and scattered around picnic ground. The results showed that the Clean-up Time Movement Program was more effective to reduce the total trash and the trash degree per a person in Treatment groups than Control groups. It seemed to effective in managing depreciative behavior through the mass communication program in National Park.
