  • This paper tries to draw some implications for Korean seaports in terms of management and development of ports with respect to attracting more transshipment container cargoes. For this the results of the Origin-Destination(O-D) analysis between major Korean ports and top 20 Chinese ports were presented. They also contained the O-D analysis between Chinese major ports and their inland hinterlands.

  • The field of vehicle routing is currently growing rapidly because of many actual applications in truckload and less than truckload trucking, courier services, door to door services, and many other problems that generally hinder the optimization of transportation costs in a logistics network. The rapidly increasing number of customers in such a network has caused problems such as difficulty in cost optimization in terms of getting a global optimum solution in an acceptable time. Fast algorithms are needed to find sufficient solutions in a limited time that can be used for real time scheduling. In this paper, the nearest L-method (NLNM) is proposed to obtain a vehicle routing solution. String neighbors of different lengths were chosen, tested and compared. The applied de crossing procedure is meant to solve the routes by NLNM by giving a better solution and shorter computation time than that of NLNM with long string neighbors.

  • The transportation and logistics industries, the constructions of a green transport methods for logistics systems are presented. They aims the greenhouse gas emissions 37% savings compared to BAU(Business As Usual) for a green growth of national strategy by 2020. An eco-driving training for truck drivers is a typical way. However there are few studies such as the integrated data collection automatically and the diagnostic Assessments and monitoring methods of logistics network status to show the effects of the eco-driving. To solve this problem, this paper provides previous research on logistics network diagnostics assessments and monitoring service and eco-driving. Then this paper shows developments of the logistics network diagnostic assessments and monitoring service business flow to promote eco-driving behaviors for truck drivers based on a smart phone application. Also, it shows an efficiency through an application results in field test.

  • Recently, as e-commerce has been activated and the demand for daily logistics services has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the development of small logistics facilities has increased rapidly. Logistics facilities are concentrated in certain areas in Gyeonggi-do, where transportation is convenient, with large hinterland cities, showing a rapid increase. This study analyzed development characteristics such as development scale, development method, floor area ratio, and use area for a total of 259 logistics facilities developed in three local governments: Anseong, Yeoju, and Icheon. Logistics facilities developed in a specific area are developed in the form of undeveloped development in non-urban areas, causing damage to the national land environment and social conflict. This study proposed institutional improvement measures and evaluation guidelines for eco-friendly development that can solve problems such as indiscriminate development, environmental impact, and conflicts with residents caused by logistics facility development.

  • With the goal of eradicating overwork, overload, and speeding of general freight cars(cargo) by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Infrastructure and Transport, the "The Fare of safe transportation for freight cars System" has been enforced since 2020. 'The Fare of safe transportation for freight cars' rate for each item is being applied and supplemented, but the 'The Cost of safe transportation for freight cars' of general freight cars (cargo) and steel items is under discussion. The purpose of this study was to estimate the willingness to pay( WTP) for cargo. A survey was conducted on shippers, transportation companies (arrangers, carriers), and cargo drivers (using direct questioning among contingent valuation method (CVM) and the Tobit Regression analysis was conducted, and the average and median values of freight rates were derived using the estimated results, and the willingness to pay by tonnage of freight cars was confirmed. It is expected that the results of this study can be used as a reference to the "The Fare of safe transportation for freight cars Committee" an organization for deliberation and resolution of the 'The Cost of safe transportation for freight cars'.

  • Korea's air passenger traffic has been growing steadily. In this paper, we propose a forecasting model of air passenger demand to ascertain the growth trend of air passenger transportation performance in Korea. We conducted a simulation based on System Dynamics with the demand as a dependent variable, and international oil prices, GDP and exchange rates as exogenous variables. The accuracy of the model was verified using MAPE and $R^2$, and the proposed prediction model was verified as an accurate prediction model. As a result of the demand forecast, it is predicted that the air passenger demand in Korea will continue to grow, and the share of low cost carriers will increase sharply. The addition of the Korean transportation performance of foreign carriers in Korea and the transportation performance of Korean passengers due to the alliance of airlines will provide a more accurate forecast of passenger demand.

  • In the paper, we design a autonomous mobile robot for freight transportation and propose an operation method of the robot in the warehouse. In order to implement autonomous navigation, it is needed to recognize the position of the robot and track the path to the target. Previous methods are hard to change the workspace environment and need high cost to install and keep a maintenance of the system. The lifter of freight transportation robot is designed to load and unload a baggage through up and down motion. Also, ultrasonic sensor, RFID, QR-code and camera sensor is used to carry out various functions while the robot navigates in the various environment. We design an operation method of the mobile robot in order to effectively arrive a goal position and transport a freight. The proposed methods are verified through various experiments.

  • Because of rapid expansion of third party logistics, fierce competition in the transportation industry, and the diversification and globalization of transportation channels, an effective transportation planning by means of multimodal transport is badly needed. Accordingly, this study aims to suggest an optimal transport algorithm for the multimodal transport in the international logistics. As a solution for this problem, first of all, we have applied a pruning algorithm to simplify it, suggesting a heuristic algorithm for constrained shortest path problem to find out a feasible area with an effective time range, which has been applied to the Label Setting Algorithm, consequently leading to multiple Pareto optimal solutions. Also, in order to test the efficiency of the algorithm for constrained shortest path problem, this paper has applied it to the actual transportation path from Busan port of Korea to Rotterdam port of Netherlands.

  • There is need to reform the road-based logistic transportation system into the railway-based logistics transportation system in order to decrease the total social cost related with logistics transportation. And new transportation modes such as dual mode trailer (DMT) are under consideration, which are expected to decrease current market share of road. But, most of current studies about estimating economical efficiency are focused on developing the probabilistic choice model and then estimating the market share of each mode. We present an approach to compute the optimal market share of each mode in terms of total social cost. To do so, we suggest an optimization model capturing both user choice to maximize his utility and subsidy policy intended to minimize total social cost, simultaneously. Using this model, we present the optimal modal split of container freight.

  • Recently, freight floe between south and north Korea is rising rapidly by increasing cf economical exchange between two Korea and growth of Gaeseoung Industrial Complex. Considering this trend of economic cooperation between two Korea, in addition to a land transportation route it is necessary to secure various logistics and transportation route. A barge transport system which has many merits such as a little initial investment and convenience of harbor loading/unloading has been also used to transport freight widely in the EU and USA. In this paper, firstly, a Gaeseoung industrial complex and its cargo transport are investigated and several candidate shipping routes which are using barge transportation system are proposed. And also we investigate a technical feasibility on a realistic possibility of shipping routes by some investigation activities. Finally, a suitable barge system of candidate shipping route(1) and(2) is proposed in this paper.
