This paper provides an overview of optical transport technology for 5G mobile fronthaul. The configuration of fronthaul network is classified with dedicated fiber, passive WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing), active WDM, and semi-active WDM, which has its own advantages and drawbacks. Various WDM technology is applied for fronthaul transport, depending on the wavelength bands, required number of wavelength channels, configuration of fronthaul network, etc. In order to meet the increasing transport capacity, a 50/100 Gbps optical transceiver will be used in place of the present 10/25 Gbps technology. Trends will be continued to enhance the flexibility and reliability of the fronthaul optical network supporting highly advanced 5G mobile services.

As a demand of IP based packet service is increasing, transport network is evolving from circuit based transport technology using TDM to Ethernet based packet transport technology. In this paper we introduce packet transport network based on PBB-TE and MPLS-TP and propose a quality of service(QoS) management scheme to satisfy various user requirements in packet transport network. The proposed flow-based QoS management scheme guarantees that per-flow bandwidth control satisfies the predefined QoS requirement perfectly under bandwidth congestion condition by using perflow and per-PTL tunnel management. In order to evaluate the proposed scheme we defined flow and PTL tunnel per input frame and configured QoS parameters for each flow and PTL tunnel respectively. Simulation was done by using OPNET modeler 16.0 version.

Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in data traffic, driven primarily by the explosive growth of the Internet. Optical networking is believed as a key solution to keep up with the growth, thus, the most pressing issue is how to manage and control large optical networks. Currently, provisioning end-to-end connections across the transport network has involved the network operator, leading to long provisioning times in an era when customers are demanding shorter provisioning time. To address this critical issue, new control intelligence is being studied for use within optical networks to shorten provisioning time. Both the IETF and the ITU-T have been aggressively defining many aspects of a control plane for the next generation convergence transport network. Basically, they are based on the distributed control scheme. In this Paper, we suey the applicability of the centralized control scheme for the provisioning control of optical transport network to utilize its inherent advantages over the distributed control scheme. We discuss new central control architecture, and control procedure. Also, we examine the applicability of the existing IETF routing and signaling protocols to the new control concepts, and then, we propose the additional routing and signaling information elements.

For twenty years, in the EU there has been a trend of a lack of maritime infrastructure and a redundance of the road one, which has a negative impact on the economy. The intermodal transport market structure in the EU has not changed over the past ten years. The stability of transport systems due to the lack of changes in the transport market remains under threat, affecting supply chains and networks through the optimization of warehousing and transportation costs. The research methodology is based on a quantitative assessment of cause-and-effect relations between economic growth and transport and logistics in the EU. A statistical analysis of security indicators, intermodal and modal transport, international trade in goods within the EU and in the world trade in goods, the dynamics of GDP of the EU countries, the level of openness of the EU economy, investment and maintenance costs of different modes of transport and infrastructure has been carried out. The results show that in 2000- 2010 there were positive changes in the transport and logistics infrastructure of the EU, which had a positive effect on trade, openness of the economy of the EU, GDP growth. However, at that time, negative effects of environmental impact and the load on road and rail transport were accumulating. Investment in different modes of transport is limited, and technical maintenance and infrastructure maintenance costs form a significant part of GDP of the EU. A slowdown in economic growth leads to budget constraints and infrastructure financing gap. As a result, the freight and passenger intermodal and modal transport market structure remains virtually unchanged. The load on rail and road transport remains stable, despite the reduced level of transport hazards. Transport productivity has declined over the past ten years. Herewith, the intensification of trade and the openness of the EU economies require constant modernization and innovative renewal. The EU policy in this direction remains normative, uncontrolled, which is reflected in investment differences within the EU and maintenance costs.
This paper proposes a novel transport network architecture for the next generation network (NGN) based on the optical burst switching technology. The proposed architecture aims to provide efficient delivery of various types of network traffic by satisfying their quality-of-service constraints. To this end, we have developed a soft-state bandwidth reservation mechanism, which enables NGN transport nodes to dynamically reserve bandwidth needed for active data burst flows. The performance of the proposed mechanism is evaluated by means of numerical analysis and NS2 simulation. Our results show that the packet delay is kept within the constraint for each traffic flow and the burst loss rate is remarkably improved.

This paper presents a sensor network and operation for multiple autonomous navigation platform and transport service. Multiple platform navigate with inside sensors and outside sensors while acquiring and process some useful information. Each platform communicates each other by navigational information through central main server. Efficient sensor network systems are considered for the scenario which some passengers call the service and the vehicle accomplish its transport service by transporting each caller to the destination by autonomous manners. In the scenario, all vehicles perform a role of sensor system to the central server and the server handles each information and integrate with faster procedure in the wireless 3G network.

In wireless network environments, wireless channels are characterized by time-varying fading and interference conditions, which may lead to burst packet corruptions and delay variation. This can cause severe quality degradation of streaming media. To guarantee successful transmission of media over the hostile wireless networks, where channel conditions are highly fluctuating, a flexible and network-adaptive transport method is required. Thus, we propose a network-adaptive transport error control consisting of packet-level interleaved FEC and delay-constrained ARQ, which acts as an application-level transport method of streaming media to alleviate burst packet losses while adapting to the changing channel condition in wireless networks. The performances of the proposed network-adaptive transport error control, general error control schemes, and hybrid schemes are evaluated by a developed simulator at the transport-level and video quality of streaming media. Simulation results show that the proposed mechanism provides the best overall performance among compared other schemes in terms of the transport-level performance of error control and the performance of video quality for streaming media.

This research deals with the multi-modal continuous network design problem to resolve the transportation policy problems for constructing and operating transportation facilities with considering the mutual decision-making process between transportation operator and user in the multi-modal network. Particularly, in the consideration of changes in travel pattern between transport modes due to the changes in transportation policy, road network for passenger car and transit network for public transportation are considered together. In the development of network design model, more rational Stackelberg equilibrium(cooperative game) rather than more general Nash equilibrium(non-cooperative game) approach is used and sensitivity analysis considering transport mode is used. A multi-modal continuous network design model in this study is developed for the arbitrary continuous network design parameters(${\epsilon},\hat{\epsilon},p$) of transportation policy decisions. As examples of application and evaluation for these design parameters, the developed model is applied to calculate 1)the optimal capacity of road link in the road transport policy, 2)the optimal frequency of transit line in public transport policy and 3)the optimal modal split in transport modal share policy.
The purpose of this paper is to introduce the limitation of liabilities of multimodal transport operators(MTO) in Korea. Also, this paper reviews the revised draft of Korean Commercial Code in 2015. This paper analyzes Korean multimodal transport systemand the limitation of liabilities of MTO by analyzing articles, regulations and practices of Korean Commercial Code and it's the draft in 2015. The paper, also, studies multimodal transport rules by comparing specifically international treaty, rules, or practices. In Korea, Article 816 of Commercial Code treats multimodal transportation adopting the network liability regime. The Article describes only the case of the multimodal transportation where the maritime carriage is engaged. Korea proposed the draft of multimodal transport regulation of Commercial Code in 2015 because present law could not apply for the multimodal transportation involved in the air or land carriage. This paper support the draft of Korean Commercial Code in 2015 because it is necessary to make a predictable legal system of multimodal transport and the limitation of liability reflecting practices or customs.
