Transparent dye-sensitized solar cells have been widely investigated for the application to building integrated photovoltaic system. Thin film Si-based solar cells are emerging as a substitute for the dye-sensitized solar cells because their merits of well-established manufacturing processes. Since the selective transmitting layer transmits visible light and reflects infrared light, the solar cell efficiency increases with the introduction of the selective transmitting layer. In this work, AlTiO thin films were grown as the selective transmitting layer by cost-effective sputter deposition and their transmittances were improved by controlling deposition parameters.

We investigated characteristics of ITO/Ag-Pd-Cu (APC)/ITO multilayer electrodes prepared by direct current magnetron sputtering for use as an anode in organic solar cells (OSCs). To optimize electrical properties of ITO/APC/ITO multilayer, we fabricated the ITO/APC/ITO multilayer at a fixed ITO thickness of 30 nm as a function of APC thickness. Compare to the surface of Ag layer on ITO, the APC had a smooth surface morphology. At optimized APC thickness of 12 nm, the ITO/APC/ITO multilayer exhibited a sheet resistance of $6{\Omega}/square$ and optical transmittance of 84.15% at a wavelength of 550 nm which is comparable to conventional ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer. However, the APC-based ITO multilayer showed a higher average transmittance in a visible region than the Ag-based ITO multilayer. The higher average transmittance of ITO/APC/ITO multilayer indicated the multilayer is suitable anode for organic solar cells with P3HT:PCBM active layer. OSCs fabricated on the optimized ITO/ACP/ITO multilayer exhibited a better performance with a fill factor of 64.815%, a short circuit current of $8.107mA/cm^2$, an open circuit voltage of 0.59 V, and power conversion efficiency (3.101%) than OSC with ITO/Ag/ITO multilayer (2.8%).

Photoelectrochemical solar cells such as dye-sensitized cells (DSSCs), which exhibit high performance and are cost-effective, provide an alternative to conventional p-n junction photovoltaic devices. However, the efficiency of such cells plateaus at 11-12%, in contrast to their theoretical value of 33%. Improvements in efficiency can only occur through a fundamental understanding of the underlying physics, materials, and device designs of DSSCs. A photoelectrode consisting of semiconducting oxide nanoparticles and a transparent conducting oxide electrode (TCO) is a key component of DSSC and design of photoelectrode materials is one of promising strategies to improving energy conversion efficiency. We introduce monodisperesed $TiO_2$ nanoparticles prepared by forced hydrolysis method and their superiority as photoelectrode materials was characterized with aids of optical and electrochemical analysis. Multi-layered TCO materials are also introduced and their feasibility for use as photoelectrodes is discussed in terms of optical absorption and charge collecting properties.
Metal nanowires can be coated on various substrates to create transparent conducting films that can potentially replace the dominant transparent conductor, indium tin oxide, in displays, solar cells, organic light-emitting diodes, and electrochromic windows. One issue with these metal nanowire based transparent conductive films is that the resistance between the nanowires is still high because of their low aspect ratio. Here, we demonstrate high-performance transparent conductive films with silver nanofiber networks synthesized by a low-cost and scalable electrospinning process followed by two-step sequential thermal treatments. First, the PVP/$AgNO_3$ precursor nanofibers, which have an average diameter of 208 nm and are several thousands of micrometers in length, were synthesized by the electrospinning process. The thermal behavior and the phase and morphology evolution in the thermal treatment processes were systematically investigated to determine the thermal treatment atmosphere and temperature. PVP/$AgNO_3$ nanofibers were transformed stepwise into PVP/Ag and Ag nanofibers by two-step sequential thermal treatments (i.e., $150^{\circ}C$ in $H_2$ for 0.5 h and $300^{\circ}C$ in Ar for 3 h); however, the fibrous shape was perfectly maintained. The silver nanofibers have ultrahigh aspect ratios of up to 10000 and a small average diameter of 142 nm; they also have fused crossing points with ultra-low junction resistances, which result in high transmittance at low sheet resistance.

For high performance thin film solar cells, texturing surface, enhancing the optical absorptionpath, is pretty important. Textured ZnO:Al transparent oxide layer of high haze is commonly used in Si thin film solar cells. In this paper, novel deposition method for aluminum doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Al) on glass substrates is presented to improve the haze property. The broccoli structure of ZnO:Al layer was formed on chemically etched glass substrates, which showed high haze value on a wide wavelength range. The etching condition of the glass substrates can change not only the haze values of the ZnO:Al of in-situ growth but alsothe electrical and optical properties of the deposited ZnO:Al films. The etching mechanism of the glass substrate affecting on the surface morphology of the glass will be discussed, which resulted in variation of texture of ZnO:Al layer. The optical properties of substrate morphology were also analyzed with EDS and FTIR results. As a result, the high haze value of 85.4% was obtained in the wavelength range of 300 nm to 1100 nm. Furthermore, low sheet resistance of about 5~18 ohm/sq was achieved for different surface morphologies of the ZnO:Al films.

Application of organic materials with low cost, easy fabrication and advantages of flexible device are increasing attention by research work. Recently, one of them, organic solar cells were rapidly increased efficiency with regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyricacidmethylester (PCBM) used typical material. To increased efficiency of organic solar cell has tried control of domain of PCBM and crystallite of P3HT by thermal annealing and solvent vapor annealing. [4-6] In those annealing effects, be made inefficiently efficiency, which is increased fill factor (FF), and current density by phase-separated morphology with blended P3HT and PCBM. In addition, increased conductivity by modified hole transfer layer (HTL) such as Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), increased both optical and conducting effect by titanium oxide (TiOx), and changed cathode material for control work function were increased efficiency of Organic solar cell. In this study, we had described effect of organic photovoltaics by conductivity of interlayer such as PEDOT:PSS and TCO (Transparent conducting oxide) such as ITO, which is used P3HT and PCBM. And, we have measured with exactly defined shadow mask to study effect of solar cell efficiency according to conductivity of hole transfer layer.

Multi-wire busbar-type bifacial n-type Si solar cells have been used for the fabrication of monofacial and bifacial photovoltaic (PV) module, where bifacial module was equipped with transparent backsheet while monofacial module was prepared using white backsheet. The comparison of six-day accumulated power production obtained from outdoor test under gray cement ground conditions using 60cell monofacial and bifacial PV modules suggested the bifacial gain of over 20% could be achieved. Furthermore, the outdoor evaluation tests of bifacial modules with different ground conditions such as cement (reference), green paint, white paint and green artificial grass, were performed. It turned out white paint showed the best albedo and thus the highest power production, while green paint and artificial grass showed less power generation than cement ground.

Dye-sensitized solar cell(DSSC) has aroused intense interest owing to its competitive price and stabilized properties than Si based solar cells. Recently, many studies have been reported on the DSSC, especially development of a transparent conductive oxide-less dye-sensitized solar cell(TCO-less DSSC). In this paper, a thick and porous Ti electrode for low cost DSSC developed its properties. To estimate the Ti electrode, the films are tested FESEM and J-V evaluation method. An increase in Ti thickness from 50 nm to 200 nm mainly affects the fill factor without noticeably changing the photocurrent density. It was confirmed that optimal DSSC efficiency was obtained at Ti 150 nm.

Hybrid solar cells have intensively studied in recent years due to their advantages such as cost effectiveness and possibility of applications in flexible and transparent devices. It is critical to fabricate individual layer composed of organic and inorganic materials in the hybrid solar cell at low cost. Therefore, it is required to manufacture cheaply and enhance the photon-to-electricity conversion efficiency of each layer in the flexible solar cell industry. In this research, we fabricated pure Cu metal mesh electrode prepared by using electroplating and/or electroless plating on the Ni mold which was manufacture through photolithography, electroforming, and polishing process. Copper mesh was formed on the surface of nickel metal working master when pulsed electrolytic copper deposition were performed at various plating parameters such as plating time, current density, and so on. After electrodeposition at 2ASD for 5~30seconds, the line/pitch/thickness of copper mesh sheet was $1.8{\sim}2.0/298/0.5{\mu}m$.

In order to improve the efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC), $TiO_2$ electrode screen-printed on transparent conducting oxide (TCO) substrate was sintered in variation with different temperature(350 to $550^{\circ}C$). $TiO_2$ electrode on fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) glass was assembled with Pt counter electrode on FTO glass. I-V properties of DSC were measured under solar simulator. Also, effect of sintering temperature on surface morphology of $TiO_2$ films was investigated to understand correlation between its surface morphology and sintering temperature. Such surface morphology was observed by atomic force microscopy (AFM). From the measurement results, at sintering temperature of $500^{\circ}C$, both efficiency and fill factor of DSC were mutually complementary, enhancing highest fill factor and efficiency. Consequently, it was considered that optimum sintering temperature of $\alpha$-terpinol included $TiO_2$ paste is at $500^{\circ}C$.
