RSM 법에 의한Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 (LAS) 유리의 소결 거동과 결정화에 대한 연구 (A Study of Sintering Behavior and Crystallization in Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 (LAS) Glass System by RSM)

  • This paper presents results and observations obtained from a study of sintering behavior and crystallization in $Li_2O-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ (LAS) Glass by screen printing method. The variable experimental conditions were determined carefully by Thermal-Mechanical Analyzer (TMA), Differential Thermal Analyzer (DTA) for setting the optimum transparent sintering conditions in LAS glass system, $10.5Li_2O-14.7Al_2O_3-58.1SiO_2-16.7B_2O_3(wt%)$, such as glass-ceramics which usually have low crystallization temperatures. Crystallization glasses generated during sintering was observed from diffraction patterns by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), transmittance by UV-Vis spectrometer. Finally, the optimum sintering condition of LAS glass and the relation between factors and results in several sintering conditions were given by using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). From this study, we confirmed that crystallization interrupted densification during glass powder sintering. Furthermore, we observed that main effect of factors in glass powder sintering with concurrent crystallization depended on experimental conditions from main effects plot by MINTAB-14.

Sol-gel 법에 의해 $SnO_2$계 박막위에 코팅된 $TiO_2$ 박막의 특성 (Properties of $TiO_2$ thin film coated on $SnO_2$ thin films by sol-gel method)

  • Sol-gel법에 의해 친수성 투명 $TiO_2$ 박막이 제조되었고, 박막의 접촉각, 표면구조, 투과율의 특성이 측정되었다. 더욱이 박막의 친수 특성을 향상시키기 위하여 계면활성제 tween 80이 이용되었다. Tween 80의 첨가량이 0, 10, 30, 50wt%일 때, 제조된 박막의 접촉각은 각각 $41.4^{\circ}$, $18.2^{\circ}$, $16.0^{\circ}$, $13.2^{\circ}$로 확인되었다. 제조된 $TiO_2$ 박막은 자외선 조사 후 Methylene blue용액을 분해시켜 흡광도를 감소시키는 광촉매 특성을 보여주었다. 일반유리(bare glass), Antimony Tin Oxide(ATO)코팅 유리, Fluorine Tin Oxide(FTO)코팅유리, Indium Tin Oxide(ITO)코팅유리 기판 위 에 Tween 80을 30 wt% 함유한 $TiO_2$ 용액을 적층하여 박막의 접촉각과 투과율을 측정하였다. 다양한 기판에 제조된 박막은 $16.2\sim27.1^{\circ}$의 표면 접촉각을 나타냈으며 자외선 조사 후에는 접촉각이 $13.2\sim17.6^{\circ}$로 낮아졌다. 특히 ATO코팅유리와 FTO 코팅유리 기판 위에 코팅된 필름은 가시광선 영역에서 각각 74.6%, 76.8%의 높은 투과율을 나타내었고, 적외선 영역에서는 각각 54.2%, 40.4%의 낮은 투과율을 나타냈다.

Fumed Silica 분말 소결법을 이용한 석영유리 제조에 하소 온도가 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Calcination Temperature on the Synthesis of Quartz glass by Fumed Silica Sintering)

  • The quartz glasses were prepared by sintering of fumed silica powders and the effect of OH concentration on their surface on sintering was studied. Through the firing process, the fumed silica was crystallized from 1180 to $1260^{\circ}C$ region. The amount of hydroxyl group decreased with increase in calcination temperature and consequently the crystallization was prevented. A transparent quartz glass was obtained from fumed silica, previously calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$, by the sintering at $1250^{\circ}C$ for 1 h.

  • The quartz glasses were prepared by fumed silica powders sintering method at $1210^{\circ}C$, $1230^{\circ}C$, $1250^{\circ}C$ in air and the effect of sintering temperature on their properties were investigated. The X-ray diffraction pattern, the OH concentration, the light transmittance, the apparent porosity and the density were analyzed. The transparent quartz glass were obtained above $1230^{\circ}C$. The OH-group and macroscopic pores were removed above $1230^{\circ}C$ and highest density and light transmittance were obtained at $1250^{\circ}C$.

  • B-doped ZnO thin films on glass substrates were prepared by sputtering the ceramic targets which had been prepared by sintering disks consisting of ZnO and various amounts of B2O3 While pure ZnO films show-ed a c-axis oriented growth the B-doping retarded the prefered orientation and grain growth of the film. Electron concentrations for undoped and B-doped ZnO films were on the order of 7.8${\times}$1018 cm-3 and 5${\times}${{{{ {10 }^{20 } }} c{{{{ {m }^{-3 } }} respectively. The electron mobility however decreased with the B-doping concentration. Optical meas-urements on the films showed that the average transmittance in the visible range was higher than 85% The measurements also indicated a blueshift of the absorption edge with doping.

  • Transparent conductive films of aluminium doped zinc oxide (AZO) have been prepared by using the DC magnetron sputtering with the ZnO : Al (Al2O3 2 wt%) oxide target oriented to c-axis. Electrical and optical properties depended upon the O2/Ar gas ratio. The optical transmittance and sheet resistance of the AZO coated glass was 60~65% and 75Ω/$\square$, respectively at the O2/Ar gas ratio of 0. With the increase of the oxygen partial pressure to 2.0$\times$10-2, they were increased to the values of 81% and 1kΩ/$\square$, respectively. The films with the resistivities of 1.2~1.4$\times$10-3 Ω.cm, mobilities of 11~13 $\textrm{cm}^2$/V.sec and carrier concentrations of 3.5$\times$1020~4.0$\times$1020/㎤ were produced at the optimum O2/Ar gas ratio, which was 0.5$\times$10-2~1.0$\times$10-2. According to XRD analysis, the films have only one peak corresponding to the (002) plane, which indicates that there is a strong preferred orientation of the films. The grain size of ZnO films were calculated to 200~320 $\AA$, which was increased with the O2/Ar gas ratio and Ar gas flowrate.

In 도핑된 ZnO 박막의 투명 전극과 유기 발광 다이오드 특성 (Transparent Anodic Properties of In-doped ZnO thin Films for Organic Light Emitting Devices)

  • Transparent In-doped zinc oxide (IZO) thin films are deposited with variation of pulsed DC power at Ar atmosphere on coming 7059 glass substrate by pulsed DC magnetron sputtering. A c-axis oriented IZO thin films were grown in perpendicular to the substrate. The optical transmittance spectra showed high transmittance of over 80% in the UV-visible region and exhibited the absorption edge of about 350 nm. Also, the IZO films exhibited the resistivity of ${\sim}10^{-3}{\Omega}\;cm$ and the mobility of ${\sim}6cm/V\;s$. Organic Light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with IZO/N,N'-diphenyl-N, N'-bis(3-methylphenl)-1, 1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (TPD)/tris (8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum ($Alq_3$)/LiF/Al configuration were fabricated. LiF layer inserted is used as an interfacial layer to increase the electron injection. Under a current density of $100\;mA/cm^2$, the OLEDs show an excellent efficiency (9.4 V turn-on voltage) and a good brightness ($12000\;cd/m^2$) of the emission light from the devices. These results indicate that IZO films hold promise for anode electrodes in the OLEDs application.

Monochromatic Amber Light Emitting Diode with YAG and CaAlSiN3 Phosphor in Glass for Automotive Applications

  • Monochromatic amber phosphor in glasses (PiGs) for automotive LED applications were fabricated with $YAG:Ce^{3+}$, $CaAlSiN_3:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors and Pb-free silicate glass. After synthesis and thickness-thinning process, PiGs were mounted on high-power blue LED to make monochromatic amber LEDs. PiGs were simple mixtures of 566 nm yellow YAG, 615 nm red $CaAlSiN_3:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor and transparent glass frit. The powders were uniaxially pressed and treated again through CIP (cold isostatic pressing) at 200 MPa for 20 min to increase packing density. After conventional thermal treatment at $550^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, PiGs were applied by using GPS (gas pressure sintering) to obtain a fully dense PiG plate. As the phosphor content increased, the density of the sintered body decreased and PiGs containing 30 wt% phosphor had full sintered density. Changes in photoluminescence spectra and color coordination were investigated by varying the ratio of $YAG/CaAlSiN_3$ and the thickness of the plates. Considering the optical spectrum and color coordinates, PiG plates with $240{\mu}m$ thickness showed a color purity of 98% and a wavelength of about 605 nm. Plates exhibit suitable optical characteristics as amber light-converting material for automotive LED applications.

지르코니아 함량에 따른 내알칼리 유리섬유의 특성 (The properties of AR(Alkali Resistant)-glass fiber by zirconia contents)

  • 기존의 내알칼리 유리섬유는 복합재료의 보강섬유로 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 일반적인 E-glass fiber보다 우수한 내화학 특성을 갖고 있으나 용융유리의 점도가 너무 높아 섬유화가 어려운 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 지르코니아 함량이 상용 제품에 비해 낮은 범위에서 지르코니아 함량별로 내알칼리유리섬유를 제조하고 이들의 특성을 E-glass 섬유와 비교하였다. 지르코니아의 함량을 0.5~16 wt%까지 변화시키면서 제조한 각각의 배치원료를 $1600^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 용융하여 투명하고 맑은 유리를 얻을 수 있었다. 이들 유리는 약 90 %의 높은 가시광 투과율을 나타내었고, 열적특성에서 $703{\sim}887^{\circ}C$의 연화점을 나타내었으며, 지르코니아의 함량이 증가함에 따라 연화점이 상승하는 경향을 나타내었다. 지르코니아 함량이 4 wt%인 조성을 E-glass 조성과 비교한 결과, 연화점에서는 $-94^{\circ}C$의 차이를, 고온점도에 있어서는 log3 온도가 $+68^{\circ}C$, log5 온도가 $-13^{\circ}C$의 차이를 나타내었다. 내알칼리 유리섬유를 알칼리용액에 48시간 및 72시간 침적 후 SEM을 통해 섬유의 내침식성이 양호함을 확인할 수 있었고, 인장강도도 일반 E-glass 섬유에 비해 48시간에서 1.7배와 72시간에서 2.2배의 높은 값을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다. 결론적으로 이러한 내알칼리 유리섬유는 쉬운 제조조건과 낮은 지르코니아 함량에도 불구하고 좋은 특성 때문에 일반적인 내알칼리 유리섬유로서 널리 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다.
