Replacing Pb-free glass composition for the dielectric materials is expected in PDP industry. In this study, phosphate glasses, $P_2O_5$- ZnO- SnO (PZS), $P_2O_5$-ZnO-BaO (PZB) were selected for a new transparent dielectric. Thermal properties (Tg, CTE) were measured with differential thermal analyzer and thermal mechanical analyzer. The glass transition of the glasses was ranged at $365{\sim}405^{\circ}C$ for the PZS system and $5.9{\sim}9.5{\times}\;10^{-6}$ of thermal expansion were found. The PZB system showed $445{\sim}470^{\circ}C$ of glass transition. Thus, the glass compositions would be a potential candidate for a transparent dielectric layer in plasma display panel.
High transmittance and low resistance index matched transparent conducting oxide (IMTCO) coated glass was prepared and characterized. IMTCO was deposited by RF magnetron sputtering with the thickness of 15nm and 90nm thick anti-reflection layer was evaporated. To modify surface to hydrophilic, in-situ plasma treatment was also performed. IMTCO coated glass exhibited 96.6% of transmittance in the wavelength range of 400~700nm which is relatively high value compared to commercially available IMTCO glass. The sheet resistance uniformity was measured to be 1.53%.
In PDP, a transparent dielectric is formed on a front glass substrate so as to cover bus electrodes (Ag). During the fabrication process, sometimes, a transparent dielectric reacts with bus (Ag) electrode in the range of $560-600^{\circ}C$, and the reaction gives the dielectric its yellow coloration, what is called "yellowing phenomena". In this paper, we investigated the reaction between bus electrode and transparent dielectric covered with different frit content in Ag paste.

The effect of heat-treatment on catalytic crystallization in $LI_2O-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass system over its glass transition temperature was investigated. Glass composition $4Li_2O{cdot}22AL_2O_3{cdot}66SiO_2{cdot}2TiO_2{cdot}2.5ZrO_2{cdot}1.5P_2O_5{cdot}1.0Na_2O{cdot}1.0As_2O_3$ (wt%) was selected and heat-treated at different heating conditions to obtain transparent glass-ceramic. Nucleation and crystallization behaviour of this composition were estimated by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and its thermal expansion coefficients were measured by Dilatometer. As a result, glass transition temperature was $730^{\circ}C$ and two maximum nucleation temperatures were estimated at $730^{\circ}C$ and 82$0^{\circ}C$ using JMA(Johson-Mehl-Avrami) equation by DTA. $ZrTiO_4$$\beta$-Quartz solid solution and $\beta$-Spodumene crystals were identified by XRD. The optimum crystallization temperature was 92$0^{\circ}C$ and three step heating schedule was expected to be useful to obtain transparent glass-ceramic.
This study is to compare and analyze two types of 'transparency' concept expressed in architecture and garment which has not only been an important theme in the post-modern expression of architeture but been shown in various types of concept. This study examined the characteristics of transparency and through theoretical studies divided them into four types; frankness(purity ambiguity comparison exposure and eroticism) Purity building would use the matrial which is transparent glasses for the expprssion of its purity and clothing would use the transparent matrial for the expression of the natural beauty of human body and the purity of human of itself. Ambiguity is expressed in the outer side of architecture by duplicating transparent materials and by phenomenon of optical illusion and inflection. On the contrary in garment it is shown in the outward formation of underclothing. Comparison in architecture is expressed by the use of void but opaque materials as well as solid but transparent materials. Extinction is expressed with the visual effect of context of the surrounding by the use of opaque glass and reflexive glass. In garment the effect of comparison is expressed by the use of mixing transparent materials and opaque materials. Building would express the inside of itself by the way of its exposure and clothing would also express its frankness through the human body is partly opened or clossed at the same thime that arises from eroticism of the way of the expression of human feelings.
The glass compositions of $PbO-SiO_2-B_2O_3$ system and $P_2O_5-PbO-ZnO$ system for the transparent dielectric materials for front panel and $P_2O_5-ZnO-BaO$ and $SiO_2-ZnO-B_2O_3$ for the reflective dielectric materials for back panel of PDP(Plasma Display Panel) were investigated. As a transparent dielectric materials for front panel, $PbO-SiO_2-B_2O_3$ glass showed good dielectric properties, high transparency and proper thermal expansion matching to soda-lime glass substrate. And the reflective dielectric materials for back panel were prepared from parent glass of $SiO_2-ZnO-B_2O_3$ system and oxide filler. It was found that these glass-ceramics are useful materials for reflective dielectric layers, as those have a similar thermal expansion to soda-lime glass plate, high reflectance, low sintering temperature.
This work reported the radiation shielding characteristic of the bismuth titanium vanadium sodium tellurite glass system. The density of the specially-developed glass samples was increased from 2.21 to 4.01 g/cm3 with the addition of Bi2O3, despite the fact the molar volume is decease within 85.43-54.79 cm3/mol. The WinXcom program was used to approximate the effect of Bi2O3 on the gamma radiation shielding parameters of bismuth titanium vanadium sodium tellurite glasses. The ㎛ values decrease with the increase of Bi2O3 concentration. The computed data shows that the glass sample with 20 mol.% of Bi2O3 content has the greatest radiation attenuation performance in comparison to other selected glasses. The Bi2O3-TiO2-V2O5-Na2O-TeO2 glass system shows excellent neutron shielding material with high long-term light transmittance and discharge resistance and could be potentially used as transparent radiation-resistant shielding glass applications.

The novelty in the present search, the Soda-Lime-Silica (SLS) glass waste to prepare free lead glass shielding was used in order to limit the accumulation of glass waste, which requires extensive time to decompose. This also saves on the consumption of pure SiO2, which is a finite resource. Furthermore, the combining of BaO with Bi2O3 into a glass network leads to increased optical properties and improved attenuation. The UV-Visible Spectrophotometer was used to investigate the optical properties and the radiation shielding properties were reported for current glass samples utilizing the PhysX/PDS online software. The optical property results indicate that when BaO content increases in glass structure, the Urbach energy ΔE, and refractive index n increases while the energy optical band gap Eopt decreases. The result of the metallisation criteria (M) revealed that the present glass samples are nonmetallic (insulators). Furthermore, the radiation shielding parameter findings suggest that when BaO was increased in the glass structure, the linear attenuation coefficient and effective atomic number (Zeff) rose. But the half-value layer HVL declined as the BaO concentration grew. According to the research, the glass samples are non-toxic, transparent to visible light, and efficient radiation shielding materials. The Ba5 sample is considered the best among all the samples due to its higher attenuation value and lower HVL and MFP values, which make it a suitable candidate as transparent glass shield shielding.
Transparent, photocatalytic, and self-cleaning TiO2 thin film is developed by TiO2 sol-gel coating on glass and polycarbonate (PC) substrates. Acetyl acetone (AcAc) suppresses the precipitation of TiO2 by forming a yellowish (complex) transparent sol-gel. XPS analysis confirms the presence of Ti2p and O1s in the thin films on glass and PC substrates. The TiO2-sol is prepared by stabilizing titanium (IV) isopropoxide (TTIP) with diethylamine and methyl alcohol. The addition of AcAcsilane coupling solution to the TiO2-sol instantaneously turns to yellowish color owing to the complexing of titanium with AcAc. The AcAc solution substantially improves the photocatalytic property of the TiO2 coating layer in MB solutions. The coated TiO2 film exhibits super hydrophilicity without and with light irradiation. The TiO2 thin film stabilized by adding 8.7 wt% AcAc shows the highest photo-degradation for methylene blue (MB) solution under UV light irradiation. Also, the optimum photocatalytic activity is obtained for the 8.7 wt% AcAc-stabilized TiO2 coating layer calcined at 450 ℃. The thin-films on glass exhibit fast self-cleaning from oleic acid contamination within 45 min of UV-light irradiation. The appropriate curing time at 140 ℃ improves the anti-fogging and thermal stability of the TiO2 film coated on PC substrate. The watermark-free PC substrate is particularly beneficial to combat fogging problems of transparent substrates.
