In this paper, the optimal power allocation algorithm that minimizes the aggregate bit error rate (BER) of the secondary user (SU) in a downlink orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based cognitive radio (CR) system, while subjecting to the interference power constraint and the transmit power constraint, is investigated under the assumption that the instantaneous channel state information (CSI) of the interference links between the secondary transmitter and the primary receiver, and between the primary transmitter and the secondary receiver is perfectly known. Besides, a suboptimal algorithm with less complexity is also proposed. In order to deal with more practical situations, we further assume that only the channel distribution information (CDI) of the interference links is available and propose heuristic power allocation algorithms based on bisection search method to minimize the aggregate BER under the interference outage constraint and the transmit power constraint. Simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

This paper introduces a full duplex single secondary user multiple-input multiple-output (FD-SSU-MIMO) cognitive radio network, where secondary user (SU) opportunistically accesses the authorized spectrum unoccupied by primary user (PU) and transmits data based on FD-MIMO mode. Then we study the network achievable average sum-rate maximization problem under sum transmit power budget constraint at SU communication nodes. In order to solve the trade-off problem between SU's sensing time and data transmission time based on opportunistic spectrum access (OSA) and the power allocation problem based on FD-MIMO transmit mode, we propose a simple trisection algorithm to obtain the optimal sensing time and apply an alternating optimization (AO) algorithm to tackle the FD-MIMO based network achievable sum-rate maximization problem. Simulation results show that our proposed sensing time optimization and AO-based optimal power allocation strategies obtain a higher achievable average sum-rate than sequential convex approximations for matrix-variable programming (SCAMP)-based power allocation for the FD transmission mode, as well as equal power allocation for the half duplex (HD) transmission mode.

Recently, one of the research topics is wireless Ad-Hoc network minimizing power consumption because of limited power. We propose optimal power allocation scheme of each transmit node and derive performance analysis of system that recently designed Double opportunistic relay system which fixed branch receiver to use more than efficient power consumption. Optimal power location scheme is shown that outage probability has always better performance than equal power allocation. Furthermore, we are known that outage probability is minimized by increasing average transmit relays to obtain the diversity gain when average channel power gain is less.

The outage probability (OP) performance of multiple-relay-based incremental hybrid decode-amplify-forward (IHDAF) relaying mobile-to-mobile (M2M) networks with transmit antenna selection (TAS) over N-Nakagami fading channels is investigated in this paper. The closed-form expressions for approximate OP of the optimal and suboptimal TAS schemes are derived. The power allocation problem is formulated for performance optimization. Then the OP performance under different conditions is evaluated through numerical simulations to verify the analysis. The simulation results showed that optimal TAS scheme has a better OP performance than suboptimal TAS scheme; the power-allocation parameter has an important influence on the OP performance.

This paper proposes a non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) based low-complexity relaying approach for multiuser cellular two-way relay channels (CTWRCs). In the proposed scheme, the relay detects the signal using successive interference cancellation (SIC) and re-generates the transmit signal with zero-forcing (ZF) transmit precoding. The achievable data rates of the NOMA-based multiuser two-way relaying (TWR) approach is analyzed. We further study the power allocation among different data streams to maximize the weighted sum-rate (WSR). We re-form the resultant non-convex problem into a standard monotonic program. Then, we design a polyblock outer approximation algorithm to sovle the WSR problem. The proposed optimal power allocation algorithm converges fast and it is shown that the NOMA-TWR-OPA scheme outperforms a NOMA benchmark scheme and conventional TWR schemes.
An adaptive modulation scheme is presented for multiuser orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing systems. The aim of the scheme is to minimize the total transmit power with a constraint on the transmission rate for users, assuming knowledge of the instantaneous channel gains for all users using a combined bit-loading and subcarrier allocation algorithm. The subcarrier allocation algorithm identifies the appropriate assignment of subcarriers to the users, while the bit-loading algorithm determines the number of bits given to each subcarrier. The proposed bit-loading algorithm is derived from the geometric progression of the additional transmission power required by the subcarriers and the arithmetic-geometric means inequality. This algorithm has a simple procedure and low computational complexity. A heuristic approach is also used for the subcarrier allocation algorithm, providing a trade-off between complexity and performance. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms provide comparable performance with existing algorithms with low computational cost.

Power allocation of soft frequency reuse(SFR) to increase cell edge user throughput by reducing inter-cell interference is proposed for coordinated cellular systems. SFR is the effective technique to increase cell edge user throughput, however, it costs the degradation of total system throughput. The cost increases when SFR operated in distributed resource controlled systems fails to be fast adaptive in the change of user distribution. The proposed scheme enables coordinated cells to control transmit power adaptively depending on user distribution so that it minimizes the loss of system throughput introduced from SFR while it guarantees enhancement of cell edge user throughput. Through system level simulation considering neighboring two cells, evaluation result for adaptive power allocation is shown compared with static power allocation.

In this paper, we investigate joint power allocation and relay selection (PARS) schemes in non-orthogonal cooperative protocol (NOCP) based cognitive relay networks. Generally, NOCP outperforms the orthogonal cooperative protocol (OCP), since it can provide more transmit diversity. However, most existing PARS schemes in cognitive relay networks focus on OCP, which are not suitable for NOCP. In the context of NOCP, we first derive the joint constraints of transmit power limit for secondary user (SU) and interference constraint for primary user (PU). Then we formulate optimization problems under the aforementioned constraints to maximize the capacity of SU in amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF) modes, respectively. Correspondingly, we derive the closed form solutions with respect to different parameters. Numerical results are provided to verify the performance improvement of the proposed PARS schemes.

This paper considers a downlink cognitive radio (CR) network where one secondary user (SU) and one primary user (PU) share the same base station (BS). The spectrum of interest is divided into a set of independent, orthogonal subchannels. The communication of the PU is of high priority and the quality of service (QoS) is guaranteed by the minimum rate constraint. On the other hand, the communication of the SU is of low priority and the SU opportunistically accesses the subchannels that were previously discarded by the PU during power allocation. The BS assigns fractions ?? and 1 ?? of the total available transmit power to the PU and the SU respectively. Two power allocation schemes with opportunistic subchannel access are proposed, in which the optimal values of ??'s are also obtained. The objective of one scheme is to maximize the rate of the SU, and the objective of the other scheme is to maximize the sum rate of the SU and the PU, both under the PU minimum rate constraint and the total transmit power constraint. Extensive simulation results are obtained to verify the effectiveness of the proposed schemes.

Utility-based routing is a special type of routing approach using a composite utility metric when making routing decisions in ad hoc and sensor networks. Previous studies on the utility-based routing all use fixed retry limit and a very simple distance related energy model, which makes the utility maximization less efficient and the implementation separated from practice. In this paper, we refine the basic utility model by capturing the correlation of the transmit power, the retry limit, the link reliability and the energy cost. A routing algorithm based on the refined utility model with adaptive transmit power and retry limit allocation is proposed. With this algorithm, packets with different priorities will automatically receive utility-optimal delivery. The design of this algorithm is based on the observation that for a given benefit, there exists a utility-maximum route with optimal transmit power and retry limit allocated to intermediate forwarding nodes. Delivery along the utility-optimal route makes a good balance between the energy cost and the reliability according to the value of the packets. Both centralized algorithm and distributed implementations are discussed. Simulations prove the satisfying performance of the proposed algorithm.
