In the multimedia CDMA mobile communication service, it is required to support various applications, such as voice, video, file transfer, e-mail, and Internet access, with guaranteed QoS. In the mixed traffic environment ,which consists of voice, stream data, and packet data, we analyze the network where preemptive priority is granted to delay-intolerant voice service and a buffer is offered to delay-tolerant stream data service. And, for best-effort packet data service, the access control by transmission permission probability is applied to obtain prominent throughput. To analyze the multimedia CDMA mobile communication system, we build a 2-dimensional markov chain model about prioritized-voice and stream data services and accomplish numerical analysis in combination with packet data traffic based on residual capacity equation.

In this paper, we proposed adaptive two-way relay cooperative communication considering the quality of the user-relay links, and derived outage probability. Network-coding based two-way relay communication can achieve more throughput since it can reduce transmission time compared conventional two-way relay communication. However, Network-coding based two-way relay communication assume that the relay can decode received signal correctly. If relay cannot decode the signal, it leads to error propagation at the relay. In this paper, we proposed adaptive two-way relay cooperative communication scheme. In proposed scheme, the user "A" transmits the signal to relay and another user "B". The relay operates adaptively depend on quality of user-relay links. Simulation result show that proposed scheme has better performance when the quality of the user-relay links are poor. Also it can get diversity order 2.

In this paper, CDMA Reservation ALOHA scheme which can reduce multiple access interference and packet collision is proposed to support multi-traffic such as voice and random data with and without priority. In this scheme, the time slot is divided into two stage, access and transmission stage. Only packets with spreading codes assigned from base station in access stage can transmit their packets in transmission stage, so MAI can be reduced. To reduce packer collision in access stage, the code reservation and access permission probability are used. Code reservation is allowed for voice traffic and continuous traffic with priority using piggyback and access permission probability based on the estimation of the number of contending users in the steady-state is adaptively applied to each traffic terminal. Also, we analyzed and simulated the numerical performances required for each traffic using Markov chain modeling in a single cell environment.

Objectives : This study was conducted to propose a new transmission/disequilibrium test(TDT) to test the linkage between genetic markers and disease-susceptibility genes based on haplotypes. Simulation studies were performed to compare the proposed method with that of Zhao et al. in terms of type I error probability and powers. Methods : We estimated the haplotype frequencies using the expectation-maximization(EM) algorithm with parents genotypes taken from a trio dataset, and then constructed a two-way contingency table containing estimated frequencies to all possible pairs of parents haplotypes. We proposed a score test based on differences between column marginals and their corresponding row marginals. The test also involved a covariance structure of marginal differences and their variances. In simulation, we considered a coalescent model with three genetic markers of biallele to investigate the performance of the proposed test under six different configurations. Results : The haplotype-based TDT statistics, our test and Zhao et al.'s test satisfied a type I error probability, but the TDT test based on single locus showed a conservative trend. As expected, the tests based on haplotypes also had better powers than those based on single locus. Our test and that of Zhao et al. were comparable in powers. Conclusion : We proposed a TDT statistic based on haplotypes and showed through simulations that our test was more powerful than the single locus-based test. We will extend our method to multiplex data with affected and/or unaffected sibling(s) or simplex data having only one parent s genotype.

Optical Burst Switched (OBS) networks usually employ one-way reservation by sending a burst control packet (BCP) with a specific offset time, before transmitting each data burst frame (BDF). Therefore, The quality of service may be degraded because contentions may lead to loss of BDFs. Especially, this phenomenon becomes more serious when burst size is longer. This necessitates an effective method of prevention to avoid burst collision in nodes. OBS networks can employ several methods to avoid such burst losses. One is that burst size is cut short to reduce burst loss probability during scheduling time. In this paper, we evaluate the burst generation and transmission using Sub-Carrier Multiplexting (SCM) in OBS networks. We propose an appropriate burst assembly architecture and transmission scheme based on SCM in OBS networks. The performance of SCM in OBS networks is examined in terms of number of Sub-Carriers per wavelength, burst loss probability, throughput, and total bandwidth of an optical fiber.
Wireless sensor nodes adopting the advanced preamble detection function, Message-In-Mesage (MIM), maximize the concurrent transmission opportunities due to the capture effect, result in improving the system performance significantly compared to the legacy IEEE 802.15.4 based sensor devices. In this paper, we propose an MIM capture probability model to analyze the performance gains by applying the MIM function to the wireless sensor nodes. We implemented the IEEE 802.15.4 and MIM by Python and performed extensive simulations to verify the performance gains through MIM capture effects. The evaluation results show that the MIM sensors achieve 34% system throughput gains and 31% transmission delay gains over the legacy IEEE 802.15.4-based sensors, which confirm that it was consistent with the analysis result of the proposed MIM capture probability model.

Recently, network coding has been actively studied to increase the spectral efficiency of two-way relay wireless channels such as cellular systems as well as broadcasting systems. In this paper, we derive the average transmission capacity and the outage probability of a network coding system, which utilizes two-way data transmission via the best relay rather than multiple relays. Since the data unbalance between the forward and the reverse link in two-way communication systems exists, we include the asymmetric link as well as the symmetric link in the analysis. It is noticed that the space diversity gain increases as the increase of the number of relays. Also we obtain 11.4 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gain with 9 relays compared to that with single relay in symmetrical link at the given conditions. In asymmetrical links, we denotes that the outage probability is more sensitive to the number of relays rather than data unbalance between the links.
Most existing studies on broadcast services in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems have focused on how to allocate the transmission power to the subcarriers. However, because a broadcasting system must guarantee quality of service to all users, the performance of the broadcast service dominantly depends on the channel state of the user who has the lowest received signal-to-noise ratio among users. To reduce the effect of the worst user on the system performance, we propose a joint delivery scheme of unicast and broadcast transmissions in OFDM systems with broadcast and unicast best-effort users. In the proposed joint delivery scheme, the BS delivers the broadcast information using both the broadcast and unicast subcarriers at the same time in order to improve the performance of the broadcast service. The object of the proposed scheme is to minimize the outage probability of the broadcast service while maximizing the sum-rate of best-effort users. For the proposed joint delivery scheme, we develop an adaptive power and subcarrier allocation algorithm under the constraint of total transmission power. This paper shows that the optimal power allocation over each subcarrier in the proposed scheme has a multi-level water filling form. Because the power allocation and the subcarrier assignment problems should be jointly solved, we develop an iterative algorithm to find the optimal solution. Numerical results show that the proposed joint delivery scheme with adaptive power and subcarrier allocation outperforms the conventional scheme in terms of the outage probability of the broadcast service and the sum-rate of best-effort users.

This paper investigates the capacity rate problems for a joint decode-and-forward (JDF) based two-way relaying with network coding. We first characterize the achievable rate region for a conventional three-node network scenario along with the calculation of the corresponding maximal sum-rate. Then, for the goal of maximizing the system sum-rate, opportunistic relay selection is examined for multi-relay networks. As a result, a novel strategy for the implementation of relay selection is proposed, which depends on the instantaneous channel state and allows a single best relay to help the two-way information exchange. The JDF scheme and the scheme using relay selection are analyzed in terms of outage probability, after which the corresponding exact expressions are developed over Rayleigh fading channels. For the purpose of comparison, outage probabilities of the amplify-and-forward (AF) scheme and those of the scheme using relay selection are also derived. Finally, simulation experiments are done and performance comparisons are conducted. The results verify that the proposed strategy is an appropriate method for the implementation of relay selection and can achieve significant performance gains in terms of outage probability regardless of the symmetry or asymmetry of the channels. Compared with the AF scheme and the scheme using relay selection, the conventional JDF scheme and that using relay selection perform well at low signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs).
In this paper, MAC algorithm for the IEEE 802.11 DCF improving the performance is proposed and analyzed by simulation. The MAC of IEEE 802.11 WLAN to control data transmission uses two control methods called DCF(Distributed Coordination Function) and PCF(Point Coordination Function). The DCF controls the transmission based on CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance), that decides a random backoff time with the range of CW(Contention Window) for each station. Normally, each station increase the CW to double after collision, and reduces the CW to the minimum after successful transmission. The DCF shows excellent performance relatively in situation that competition station is less but has a problem that performance is fallen from throughput and delay viewpoint in situation that competition station is increased. This paper proposes an enhanced DCF algorithm that increases the CW to maximal CW after collision and decreases the CW smoothly after successful transmission in order to reduce the collision probability by utilizing the current status information of WLAN. To prove efficiency of proposed algorithm, a lots of simulations are conducted and analyzed.
