  • In sensor network, cluster based routing protocol about efficient energy usage method has researched variously. But existing cluster based routing protocol have problems. one of the problem is sensor nodes's imbalance energy consumption problem at cluster reconstruction. anther is non- connection problem between header node and spc node when they are far from each other, not properly connected. We propose cluster re-division and header node of multihop transmission method in this paper. The cluster re-division method is the method that re-divides existing routing protocol with the small-scale cluster and multihop transmission method is the method regarding the relay transmission between the header nodes. Through the simulation, the proposed routing mechanism shows more excellent than exiting routing protocol in balance energy consumption and energy efficiency.

  • Although ground investigation had carried out prior to the construction, many problems have arisen during the civil-engineering works because of the presence of the unexpected underground utility lines or anomalies. In this study, a new geophysical exploration method was developed to solve those problems by improving and supplementing the existing methods. This new method was based on the difference of electrical resistance values between anomalies and surrounding ground medium. A theoretical expression was suggested to define the characteristics of the anomalies such as location, size and direction, by applying the electric field analysis. An inverse analysis algorithm was also developed to solve the theoretical expression using the measured electrical resistance values which were generated by the voltage flowing the subsurface medium. To verify the developed method, field applications were conducted at the sites under construction or planned. From the results of the field tests, it was found that not only the new method was more predictive than the existing methods, but its results were good agreed with the measured ones. Therefore, it is expected that application of the new exploration method reduces the unexpected accidents caused by the underground uncertainties during the underground construction works.

  • The synthetic aperture radar(SAR) is an equipment that can acquire images in all weathers day and night based on radar signals. The on-board processor of satellite SAR generates transmission signal by digital signal processing, converts it into an analog signal and transmits to antenna. Until the transmission signal generated by on-board processor is output, the signal passes the transmission cables and analog devices. At this time, these hardware distort the signal and makes SAR performance worse. To improve the performance, pre-distortion technique is used. But, general pre-distortion using taylor series is not sufficient to compensate for the distortion. This paper suggests transmit signal design method with improved pre-distortion. This paper uses envelop sampling method and interpolation filter for frequency domain compensation. The proposed method accurately compensates the hardware distortion and reduces resource usage of FPGA. To analyze proposed method's performance, IRF characteristics are compared when the proposed method applies to signal with errors.

  • Toprovide economical BISDN service, with which integration process of many types of media is possible, it is necessary to construct a system with ground network and satellite network combined. The method for this type of transmission using satellite is TDMA that can provide services to many users in various area. However, the most difficult task to connect TDMA which uses synchronous method to ATM which used asynchronous transfer mode is the deterioration n of ATM transmission quality such as cell delay variation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop delay variation compensation method which can confront to the ATM. Efficient ways to use satellite links under the conditions such that maximum efficiency of the delay variation is limited under the required value, and the burst characteristic of transmission cell does not increase are being researched for translation between in ATM and TDMA. This paper points out the problems when time stamp method, reviewd in ground network, is applied to the satellite links to compensate the delay variation .To solve the problem, discrete cell count method is introduced along with the calculation of transmission capacity and error rate. Also, from the observation of stab-ility of the system and verification of reliability even when singal error occurred in the cell transmission timing information, the proposed compensation method appeared to be excellent.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and verify a precision transmission error measurement system for a gear pair. The transmission error measurement system of the gear pair was developed as a measurement unit, signal processing unit, and signal analysis unit. The angular displacement for calculating the transmission error of the gear pair was measured using an encoder. The signal amplification, interpolation, and transmission error calculation of the measured angular displacement were conducted using a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and a real-time processor. A high-pass filter (HPF) was applied to the calculated transmission error from the real-time processor. The transmission error measurement test was conducted using a gearbox, including the master gear pair. The same test was repeated three times in the clockwise and counterclockwise directions, respectively, according to the load conditions (0 - 200 N·m). The results of the gear transmission error tests showed similar tendencies, thereby confirming the stability of the system. The measured transmission error was verified by comparing it with the transmission error analyzed using commercial software. The verification showed a slight difference in the transmission error between the methods. In a future study, the measurement and analysis method of the developed precision transmission error measurement system in this study may possibly be used for gear design.

  • HVDC is better economic method than HVAC in case of long distance transmission and it is possible to interconnect transmission lines regardless of difference of power frequency. The electrical environment problems of HVDC overhead transmission line are electric field, charged voltage, ion current and so on. For biopolar HVDC lines, most of the ions are directed toward the opposite polarity conductor, but a significant fraction is also directed toward the ground. These problems are major factor to design configuration of HVDC overhead transmission line. Therefore, It is necessary to test an environmental characteristics of HVDC overhead transmission line. In this paper, to assess the ion characteristic of HVDC transmission line, continuous measurements have been done on the biopolar single circuit line with ACSR 480mm2-6 bundle conductors of Gochang HVDC Test line. And then the ion characteristics were analyzed.

  • The electric vehicle industry is rapidly developing because of enforced environmental regulations, and several studies have been conducted on the multispeed transmission to improve the fuel efficiency of electric vehicles. Among these studies, research on the power density improvement of electric vehicle transmission is critical. Thus, the optimal design of the gear train is necessary to enhance transmission efficiency. In this study, an optimal design methodology for the lightweight two-speed transmission of electric vehicles is proposed. Because a multispeed transmission has many operating conditions and equality and inequality constraints, a new gear design method that combines analytical and iterative methods is applied without using complex optimization algorithms. Sets of possible design variables are generated considering the operating conditions and various design variables. The modules and face width ratios of each stage gear that satisfy the corresponding operating conditions are analytically calculated. The volume of the gear train is calculated, evaluated, and arranged using these values to determine the optimal solution for minimizing the volume, and the proposed methodology is applied to the actual model to verify its effectiveness. The design of a two-speed transmission with multiple operating conditions and constraints without complicated optimization algorithms can be optimized.

  • Transmission cross section(TCS) is described analytically as $2G{\lambda}^2/4{\pi}$ irrespective of the aperture shapes for various transmission resonant apertures, such as small ridged circular or H-shaped, U-shaped, or Jerusalem cross-shaped apertures in an infinite thin conducting plane. The proposed expression is validated by comparison with the numerical results obtained from the method of moments(MOM). The TCS characteristics of the transmission resonant cavity structure in a thick conducting plane are also studied and the equivalence between the two small aperture structures is reported from the viewpoint of transmission efficiency.

  • Electric transmission towers are facilities to transport electrical power from a plant to an electrical substation. The towers are connected using wires considering the wire tension and the clearance from the ground or nearby objects. The wires are installed on a rights-of-way that is a strip of land used by electrical utilities to maintain the transmission line facilities. Trees and plants around transmission lines must be managed to keep the operation of these lines safe and reliable. This study proposed the use of a low-cost drone photogrammetry for the transmission line rights-of-way mapping. Aerial photogrammetry is carried out to generate a dense point cloud around the transmission lines from which a DSM (Digital Surface Model) and DTM (Digital Terrain Model) are created. The lines and nearby objects are separated using nDSM (normalized Digital Surface Model) and the noises are suppressed in the multiple image space for the geospatial analysis. The experimental result with drone images over two spans of transmission lines on a mountain area showed that the proposed method successfully generate the rights-of-way map with hazard nearby objects.

  • Surface cracks in concrete are common defects that can cause significant deterioration and failure of concrete structures. Therefore, the early detection, assessment, and repair of the cracks in concrete are very important for the structural health. Among studies for crack depth assessment, self-calibrating surface wave transmission method seems to be a promising nondestructive technique, though it is still difficult in determination of the crack depth due to the variation of the experimentally obtained transmission functions. In this paper, the spectral energy transmission method is proposed for the crack depth estimation in concrete structures. To verify this method, an experimental study was carried out on a concrete slab with various surface-opening crack depths. Finally, effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by comparing the conventional time-of-flight and cutting frequency based methods. The results show an excellent potential as a practical and reliable in-situ nondestructive method for the crack depth estimation in concrete structures.
