  • In a high speed train, multi-layered panels for floor, side wall and roof are important sound insulating part. As these multi-layered panels require high bending strength vs. weight, corrugated steels or aluminium honeycomb panel are generally used. However, with some inevitable factors, these panels show lower sound insulation performance than that of the plate with the same weight. Transmission loss(TL) often severely decreases in a particular frequency range because of the decrease of the critical frequency, occurrence of local resonance modes and cavity resonance modes, which are not shown in a plate. In this study, frequency range and cause of the TL drop are investigated on the corrugated and honeycomb panels.

  • The shielding effectiveness of materials is determined by measuring the ratio of the incident electromagnetic power which passes through the material under test. To measure the shielding effectiveness materials made by conductive polymer, the flanged coaxial transmission-line holder based in ASTM D4935-89, was fabricated. This apparatus has dynamic range between 95dB and 120dB in frequency range of 50Mhz-2Ghz. Furthermore, this system can be utilized to measure the shielding effectiveness of materials produced by conductive polymer and can be adapted for shielding materials design.

  • In room acoustics, reverberation time (RT) is the most important and general factor that represents character of room or inner space. However, RT, especially in low frequency range, can have the different value according to the measuring points and methods. This study comprehends the cause of error occurring dominantly in low frequency range when RT is measured and examines that the each error of RT measured in the cabin and reverberation chamber having different properties, influences what extent on sound transmission loss (STL)

  • Data aggregation is a fundamental problem in wireless sensor networks that has attracted great attention in recent years. On constructing a robust algorithm for minimizing data aggregation delay in wireless sensor networks, we consider limited transmission range sensors and approximate the minimum-delay data aggregation tree which can only be built in networks of unlimited transmission range sensors. The paper proposes an adaptive method that can be applied to maintain the network structure in case of a sensor node fails. The data aggregation tree built by the proposed scheme is therefore self-healing and robust. Intensive simulations are carried out and the results show that the scheme could adapt well to network topology changes compared with other approaches.

  • Single crystals of (ZnSe)1-x(CuMSe2)x (M=Al, Ga, or In) were grown by chemical vapor transport technique. Powdered polycrystalline samples of (ZnSe)1-x(CuMSe2)x (M=Al, Ga, or In) were also prepared by the direct combination of the elements. The chemical composition of these single crystals was determined by comparing their lattice parameters with those of the standard polycrystalline samples. The IR transmission range of single crystals of (ZnSe)1-x(CuMSe2)x (M=Al, Ga, or In) is slightly narrower than that observed for pure ZnSe. However, these materials still show good transmission in the long-wavelength IR range. The addition of small amounts of CuMSe2 (M=Al, Ga, or In) considerably increases the hardness of ZnSe.

  • This paper introduces an efficient iterative decoding method for high-dimensional block turbo codes. To improve the decoding performance, we modified the soft decision Viterbi decoding algorithm, which is a trellis-based method. The iteration number can be significantly reduced in the soft output decoding process by applying multiple usage of extrinsic reliability information from all available axes and appropriately normalizing them. Our simulation results reveal that the proposed decoding process needs only about 30% of the iterations required to obtain the same performance with the conventional method at a bit error rate range of $10^{-5}\;to\;10^{-6}$.

  • This paper presents a CPW patch antenna with $\lambda/2$ CPW transmission lines. Through the full-wave simulation and the equations of gap capacitance, the dimensions of the CPW transmission lines and resonance circuit components are extracted. Using extracted dimensions, we designed and implemented CPW patch antennas in the range of frequency of 5GHz.

  • In this paper some shapes of the FBW cross sections were examined to improve the performance of FBW for the long wave. Trapezoidal section and prominence section were examined. Linear potential theory is used and the boundary element method is use for numerical computation. Proper choice of the pontoon geometry may improve the transmission coefficient in the long wave range for a given wave period.
