  • In this paper, USN of wireless communication with easy to install and effectiveness with variety information gathering has been proposed as a alternative of wired-based line for transmission of fire sensing data. But, The sensor node using USN should be considered for wireless transmission range and reliability of information. In this study, the zigbee protocol sensor node was implemented and then tested transmission range of sensor node as 10m interval using voltage information of DC 3V & 5V. Here, maximum transmission distance was confirmed 90m inside-outside. When used mesh routing relay node, distance was not limited. In USN network building, when fire sensing data transmitted, the sensing data same between direct sensing data from sensor and collecting data at USN. Therefore, was confirmed reliability for transmission range and information of proposed zigbee sensor node.

  • In this paper, we present an analytical and simulated study on the performance of adaptive vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) priority based on Transmission Distance Reliability Range (TDRR) and data type. VANET topology changes rapidly due to its inherent nature of high mobility nodes and unpredictable environments. Therefore, nodes in VANET must be able to adapt to the ever changing environment and optimize parameters to enhance performance. However, there is a lack of adaptability in the current VANET scheme. Existing VANET IEEE802.11p's Enhanced Distributed Channel Access; EDCA assigns priority solely based on data type. In this paper, we propose a new priority scheme which utilizes Markov model to perform TDRR prediction and assign priorities based on the proposed Markov TDRR Prediction with Enhanced Priority VANET Scheme (MarPVS). Subsequently, we performed an analytical study on MarPVS performance modeling. In particular, considering five different priority levels defined in MarPVS, we derived the probability of successful transmission, the number of low priority messages in back off process and concurrent low priority transmission. Finally, the results are used to derive the average transmission delay for data types defined in MarPVS. Numerical results are provided along with simulation results which confirm the accuracy of the proposed analysis. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed MarPVS results in lower transmission latency and higher packet success rate in comparison with the default IEEE802.11p scheme and greedy scheduler scheme.

  • In this paper, the protective relay setting rules of Korean electric power system are studied by analysis of errors to be considered. An accurate operation of protective relays with accurate settings are important in power system reliability. The setting rules are used from the first establishment in 1982 and revision in 1990 Therefore, it needs revise and analysis of the setting rules because of environmental changes such as voltage raise or applied new technology of power system. Two major setting rules are studied. One is the rule for Zones of distance relay for transmission lines. The other is the one of differential current in a differential relay for power transformers. The range of errors in the setting rules accepted in the field experience is studied in simulation of case study. Also some guide lines for the range of errors in the setting rules are presented from the case study using Matlab simulation.

  • In oceanic flight routes, HF radio and satellite data links have weather restrictions, long propagation delay and low data throughput. In this paper, we propose oceanic aeronautical communications scheme in the VHF band based on ad-hoc communication. The proposed scheme organizes autonomously a multi-hop network that is divided into multiple local network using aircraft to fly long-distance communication and supports a hybrid type of multiple access, which consists of random access and TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) scheme. In addition, several algorithms to apply spatial reuse of transmission to multi-hop long range communication environments have been proposed. The proposed system proves performance improvement on delay time as an effective solution to communicate end-to-end on the oceanic flight routes and strengthens the reliability of oceanic aeronautical communication.

  • Ad hoc sensor network is characterized by decentralized structure and ad hoc deployment. Sensor networks have all basic features of ad hoc network except different degrees such as lower mobility and more stringent energy requirements. Existing protocols provide different tradeoffs among some desirable characteristics such as fault tolerance, distributed computation, robustness, scalability and reliability. wireless protocols suggested so far are very limited, generally focusing on communication to a single base station or on aggregating sensor data. The main reason having such restrictions is due to maximum lifetime to maintain network activities. The network lifetime is an important design metric in ad hoc networks. Since every node does a router role, it is not possible for other nodes to communicate with each other if some nodes do not work due to energy lack. In this paper, we suggest an experimental ad-hoc on-demand distance vector routing protocol to optimize the communication of energy of the network nodes. The load distribution avoids the choice of exhausted nodes at the route selection phase, thus balances the use of energy among nodes and maximizing the network lifetime. In transmission control phase, there is a balance between the choice of a high transmission power that lead to increase in the range of signal transmission thus reducing the number of hops and lower power levels that reduces the interference on the expense of network connectivity.

  • This study was carried out near the waters of Jango port, Dangjin-gun, Chungcheongnam-do by utilizing 10kHz carrier frequency, for the purpose of measurement and analysis of underwater channel environment of the Western sea. For the measurement of horizontal channel environment, the separation distance between transmitter and receiver is made differently in the range between 10m and 4000m. Meanwhile, for the measurement of vertical channel environment, transmission and receiving side ships are fixed as contacted each other and measured differently depending on their depth of submergence. In this study, the Coherence Bandwidth and the Coherence Time were estimated by analyzing the Power delay profile of the real sea based on the measured data, and analyzing the doppler frequency through frequency conversion of received tone-signal, respectively. This study is expected to become a base study in carrying out the frame design for underwater communication to improve the communication and secure the reliability of communication in future underwater channel environment.
