  • This paper suggests the methodology to guarantee the rea1-time service over Ethernet and TCP/IP and to solve the problems such as re-transmission due to collision and platform-transparency and independence. This paper proposes a new mechanism called Real-time Ethernet protocol combined the centralized medium control mechanism with the token passing mechanism. The centralized medium control mechanism is used to get the token, the right to transmit the data, and the token passing mechanism is used to return the token to the token controller and to transmit data within the specified time interval. The proposed Real-Time Ethernet Protocol is based on Java and Java RMI(Remote Method Invocation). The presented protocol is believed to work enough in real-time applications considering latency occurred due to the Java RMI, which is less small than data transmission time.

Effect of Head of the Line Blocking on Session Initiation Protocol Session Establishment Delays

  • We have studied the effect of head of the line blocking (HOLB) on session initiation protocol (SIP) session establishment delays. Our results are based on experiments performed in a test bed and on the public Internet. We used the stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) as a transport for SIP because SCTP can be configured to suffer or to avoid HOLB. Our experiments show that the effect of HOLB on session establishment delays generally starts to be significant starting at fairly low packet loss rates. However, there are scenarios where network conditions are good enough to make the effect of HOLB insignificant.

  • In this paper, Medium Access Control(MAC) protocol designed for Wireless Body area Sensor Network(Bio-MAC) is proposed, Because in WBSN, the number of node is limited and each node has different characteristics. Also, reliability in transmitting vital data sensed at each node and periodic transmission should be considered so that general MAC protocol cannot satisfy such requirements of biomedical sensors in WBSN. Bio-MAC aims at optimal MAC protocol in WBSN. For this, Bio-MAC used Pattern -SuperFrame, which modified IEE E 802.15.4-based SuperFrame structurely. Bio-MAC based on TDMA uses Medium Access-priority and Pattern eXchange -Beacon method for dynamic slot allocation by considering critical sensing data or power consumption level of sensor no de etc. Also, because of the least delay time. Bio-MAC is suitable in the periodic transmission of vital signal data. The simulation results demonstrate that a efficient performance in WBSN can be achieved through the proposed Bio-MAC.

  • We propose a protocol for Ethernet-based industrial real-time communication networks. In the protocol, the master periodically transmits control frames to all slaves, and the ring-type network topology is selected to achieve high-speed transmission speed. The proposed protocol is implemented in the form of both firmware and Linux kernel modules. To improve the transmission speed, the MAC address table is disabled in the firmware implementation, and the NAPI function of the Ethernet driver is removed in the Linux kernel module implementation. A network experiment environment is built with four ARM processor-based embedded systems and network operation experiments are performed for various frame sizes. From the experimental results, it is verified that the proposed protocol normally operates, and the firmware implementation shows better transmission speed than the Linux kernel module implementation.

  • This paper proposes a new efficient MAC(Media Access Control) protocol to establish the ultrasonic communication network for underwater vehicles, which ensures a certain level of maximum throughput regardless of the propagation delay of ultrasonic and allows fast data transmission through the multiple ultrasonic communication channel. A MAC protocol for underwater communication network that allows 'peer-to-peer' communication between a surface ship and multiple underwater systems is designed, and the proposed control protocol is implemented for its verification.

  • 본 논문은 ETSI에 의해 정의된 무선 LAN(Wireless LAN)의 표준안인 HIPERLAN(HIgh PErformance Radio LAN) 타입 1의 매체 접근 제어 프로토콜에 관하여 해석적으로 분석한다. HIPERLAN의 채널 접근 계층(Channel Access Control layer)에서 사용하는 EY-NPMA(Elimination Yield-Nonpreemptive Priority Multiple Access)의 채널 경쟁 단계 중에서 제어 단계(Elimination phase)와 양보 단계(Yield phase)의 무선 가입자 모델에 대하여 분석한다. 그리고, 분석 결과를 이용하여 전송 단계(Transmission phase)에서 패킷 전송의 성공확률을 해석적으로 구한 후, 시뮬레이션을 이용한 성능 평가를 통하여 분석 결과를 검증한다.

  • 발전된 형태의 통신망 제공은 광대역 멀티미디어 서비스를 가능하게 하고 있다. 네트워크 기반 지능형 이동 로봇 서비스가 새로운 서비스 중의 하나이다. 이때 네트워크 로봇을 원격으로 제어하기 위해서는 실시간 신뢰성 있는 로봇제어 데이터 전송이 필요하다. 본 연구에서 UDP 프로토콜에 기반을 둔 로봇 제어 데이터의 효과적인 전송기법을 제안한다. 제안한 기법은 로봇 제어 데이터에 우선순위를 부여하고 기지국에서 로봇 제어 데이터를 중복으로 전송하는 것이다. NS-2 모의실험을 통하여 제안한 제어데이터 전송 프로토콜 방법은 전송지연시간이 적으며 패킷 손실율도 매우 적음을 보인다.

  • This paper proposes a new algorithm for opportunistic scheduling that take advantage of both multiuser diversity and power control. Motivated by the multicast RTS and priority-based CTS mechanism of OSMA protocol, we propose an opportunistic packet scheduling with power control scheme based on IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol. The scheduling scheme chooses the best candidate receiver for transmission by considering the SINR at the nodes. This mechanism ensures that the transmission would be successful. The power control algorithm on the other hand, helps reduce interference between links and could maximize spatial reuse of the bandwidth. We then formulate a convex optimization problem for minimizing power consumption and maximizing net utility of the system. We showed that if a transmission power vector satisfying the maximum transmission power and SINR constraints of all nodes exist, then there exists an optimal solution that minimizes overall transmission power and maximizes utility of the system.

  • TCP(Transmission Control Protocol)는 인터넷 환경에서 널리 사용되고 있는 프로토콜의 하나이다. TCP는 흐름제어를 통해 데이터의 손실 및 재전송을 줄여 효율성을 높일 수 있으며, 이러한 흐름제어는 데이터 패킷 크기의 제한을 두는 윈도우 기법을 통해 이루어지고 있다. 흐름제어 방식에 의해 TCP는 다양한 버전으로 구분되어 있는데, 본 논문에서는 대표적인 Tahoe, Reno와 Reno의 개량형인 Newreno에 에러모델을 적용한 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 그 성능을 분석하였다.

  • For pneumatic system control, we need a data transmission system with high speed and reliability for information interchange between main computer and I/O devices. This paper presents a set of design techniques for a data communication system that is mainly used for pneumatic system control. For this purpose, we first designed hardware modules for an interface between central control module and local node that handles the operation of solenoid valves. In addition, we developed a communication protocol for construction of RS-485 based multi-drop network, and this protocol is basically designed with a kind of polling technique.
