  • In this paper, we propose a new wavelet-based fuzzy modeling using a DNA coding method. Generally, it is well known that the DNA coding method is more diverse in the knowledge expression and better in the optimization performance than the genetic algorithm (GA) because it can encode more plentiful genetic information based on the biological DNA. The proposed method makes a fuzzy model by using the wavelet transform, in which coefficients are identified by the DNA coding method. Thus we can effectively get the fuzzy model of nonlinear system by using the advantages of both wavelet transform and DNA coding method. In order to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method, it is compared with the GA.

  • In the network coding, throughput can be increased by allowing the transformation of the received data at the intermediate nodes. However, the adversary can obtain more information at the intermediate nodes and make troubles for decoding of transmitted data at the sink nodes by modifying transmitted data at the compromised nodes. In order to resist the adversary activities, various information theoretic or cryptographic secure network coding schemes are proposed. Recently, a secure network coding based on the cryptographic hash function can be used at the random network coding. However, because of the computational resource requirement for cryptographic hash functions, networks with limited computational resources such as sensor nodes have difficulties to use the cryptographic solution. In this paper, we propose a new secure network coding scheme which uses linear transformations and table lookup and safely transmits n-1 packets at the random network coding under the assumption that the adversary can eavesdrop at most n-1 nodes. It is shown that the proposed scheme is an all-or-nothing transform (AONT) and weakly secure network coding in the information theory.

  • In this study, medical images, which are X-ray image and CT image, are compressed by the adam live coding technique. The medical images may be treated as special ones, because they are different from general images in many respects. The statistical characteristics that medical images only have in transform domain are analyzed, and then the improved quantization method is proposed for medical images. For chest X-ray image and CT head image, the better results are obtained by the improved adaptive coding technique.

  • MPEG-2 AAC(Advanced Audio Coding) is the most advanced coding scheme available for high quality audio coding. This MPEG-2 AAC audio Standard allows for ITU-R ‘indistinguishable’ quality according to at data rates of 320 kb/s for five full-bandwidth channel audio signals. The compression ratio is around a factor of 1.4 better compared to MPEG Layer 3, you get the same quality at 70% of the bitrate. This paper suggest optimization method for MDCT/IMDCT (Modified Discrete Cosine Transform/Inverse Modified Discrete Cosine Transform) in Encoder and Decoder for AAC.

  • Lifting scheme based integer transforms provides very useful properties on the multimedia coding. An integer transform outputs the integer form when the input has integer value. This doesn't produce quantization errors on coding, so integer transforms are adequate to lossless coding, In this paper, we present an integer DCT algorithm which is able to transform audio signal with longer length. Also the proposed method can be easily implemented recursively even though input is long time. We present the method to overcome the poor approximation which is produced by recursive lifting step. And we have applied the proposed integer DCT to lossless audio coding.

  • This paper proposes a new region-oriented coding scheme of still images. The scheme first segments an image into homogeneous regions by making use of Voronoi diagrams. Then luminance components in each Voronoi region are encoded using a transform coding technique which employs the Schmidt's orthogonalization method to produce orthonormal basis-functions for arbitrarily shaped regions. In this technique, coding efficiency depends on the properties of initial vectors to be orthogonalized. Therefore we adaptively select a set of initial vectors as well as the order in which these vectors are orthogonalized. Simulation results indicate that the proposed coding scheme achieves higher coding performance with much less computation than the KLT-based scheme which we reported formerly.

  • In the decoding process of interframe Wavelet coding, the Wavelet transform requires huge computational complexity. Since the decoder may need to be used in various devices such as PDAs, notebooks, or PC, the decoder's complexity should be adapted to the processor's computational power. So, it is natural that the low complexity codec is also required for scalable video coding. In this paper, we develop a method of controlling and lowering the complexity of the spatial Wavelet transform while sustaining the same coding efficiency as the conventional spatial Wavelet transform. In addition, the proposed method may alleviate the ringing effect for slowly changing image sequences.

  • Utilizing a cosine transform in image compression has several recognized performance benefits, resulting in the ability to attain large compression ratio with small quality loss. Also, various models incorporating Human Visual System (HVS) to Discrete Cosine Trans-form (DCT) scheme are considered. Using the exact frequency components of DCT basis function, the optimum modulation transfer function (MTF) is obtained analytically. The errors at a block boundary which is important factor in transform coder are criteria for error measurement. The HVS weight coding results in perceptually higher quality images compared with the unweighted scheme.

  • This paper presents a fuzzy system that estimates the optimal bit allocation matrices for the spatially active subimage classes of adaptive transform image coding in noisy channels. Transform image coding is good for image data compression but it requires a transmission error protection scheme to maintain the performance since the channel noise degrades its performance. The fuzzy system provides a simple way of estimating the bit allocation matrices from the optimal bit map computed by the method of minimizing the mean square error between the transform coefficients of the original and the reconstructed images.

  • This paper proposes a $16{\times}16$ and $32{\times}32$ inverse transform architecture for HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding). HEVC large transform of $16{\times}16$ and $32{\times}32$ suffers from huge computational complexity. To resolve this problem, we proposed a new large inverse transform architecture based on hardware reuse. The processing element is optimized by exploiting fully recursive and regular butterfly structure. To achieve low area, the processing element is implemented by shifters and adders without multiplier. Implementation of the proposed 2-D inverse transform architecture in 0.18 ${\mu}m$ technology shows about 300 MHz frequency and 287 Kgates area, which can process 4K ($3840{\times}2160$)@ 30 fps image.
