New type of supercapacitor using high surface area activated carbons mixed with high conductivity polypyrrole (Ppy) has been prepared in order to achieve low impedance and high energy density. Mixed carbons of BP-20 and MSP-20 were used as the active electrode material, and polypyrrole doped with 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid (2-NSA) and carbon black (Super P) as conducting agents were added to activated carbons in order to enhance good electric conductivity. Electrodes prepared with the activated electrode materials and the conducting agents were added to a solution of organic binder [P(VdF-co-HFP) / NMP]. The ratio of optimum electrode composition was 78 : 17 : 5 wt.% of (MSP20 : BP-20=1 : 1), (Super P : Ppy=10 : 7) and P(VdF-co-HFP) respectively. The performance of unit cell with addition of 7 wt% Ppy have shown specific capacitance of 28.02 F/g, DC-ESR of $1.34{\Omega}$, AC-ESR of $0.36{\Omega}$, specific energy of 19.87 Wh/kg and specific power of 9.77 kW/kg. With addition of Ppy, quick charge-discharge of unit cell was possible because of low ESR, low charge transfer resistance and quick reaction rate. And good stability up to 500 chargedischarge cycles were retained about 80% of their original capacity. It was concluded that the specific capacitance originated highly from compound phenomena of the pseudocapacitance by oxidation-reduction of polypyrrole and the nonfaradaic capacitance by adsorption-desorption of activated carbons.

This paper presents analysis results of the effects of RF filter characteristics on the system performance of impulse radio. The impulse radio system transmits modulated pulses having very short time duration and information can be extracted in receiver side based on cross-correlation between received and transmitted pulses. Accordingly, the pulse distortion due to in-band group delay variation can cause serious system performance degradation. In general, RF bandpass filters inevitably cause group delay difference to the signal passing through the filter which is proportional to its skirt characteristic due to its resonance phenomenon. For time as well as frequency domain analysis, small signal scattering parameter $S_{21}$ and its Fourier transform are used to characterize output pulse waveform under the condition that the input and output ports are matched. The output pulse waveform of the filter is predicted based on convolution integral between input pulse and filter transfer function, and resulting BER performances in the BPM and PPM based impulse radio system are calculated.

During a model test of Hutton TLP, a "ringing" response was first observed about 20 years ago. This phenomenon is a resonant build up over the time of wave period and this burst-like motion can cause the extreme load on the TLP tether. It is often detected in the large and steep irregular waves but the generation mechanism leading to the "ringing" is not yet well understood. According to the research since then, the higher order harmonic components may account for the "ringing" on the floating offshore structures. The main purpose of the present research is, thus, to measure the higher harmonic forces exerted on a vertical truncated circular column and to compare them with available data. A vertical truncated cylinder with a diameter of 3.5inch and a draft of 10.5inch is used as a test structure, which is a scaled model of ISSC TLP column. The cylinder is installed at a distance of 45ft from the wave maker in order to avoid parasitic waves created in the wave flap. Attached to the upper part of the cylinder are two force gages to measure the horizontal (surge) and vertical (heave) forces on the cylinder. The incoming waves are Stokes waves with a slope ranging from 0.06 to 0.24. The forces and waves are measured for 60 seconds with a sampling rate of 50 Hz. Among the recorded data, the first 10 waves are excluded because of transient behavior of the waves and the next The horizontal and vertical forces are analyzed up to 5th order harmonics. The horizontal forces are then compared to the values from the theoretical model called "FNV model". In addition, force transfer functions are also investigated. Major findings in this research are below. 1) The first order forces measured are slightly larger than the theoretical values of "FNV model" 2) The "FNV model" considerably overpredicts the second order forces. 3) The larger the amplitude and more extreme the wave slope, the smaller the predictions are compared to the experimental. 4) The higher harmonic forces are significantly smaller than the first harmonic force for all wave parameters. 5) The normalized forces vs. waves slopes are almost constant in the lower harmonics but vary a lot in the higher harmonics. 6) The trend of forces is more nonlinear in the horizontal forces than in the vertical forces as the wave slope increases. 7) The part of the results above is also observed by other researchers and confirmed again through the present work.

This paper developed the algorithm for improving the performance the auto pilot in the autonomous vehicle system consisting of the Track keeping control, the Automatic steering, and the Automatic mooring control. The automatic steering is the control device that could save the voyage distance and cost of fuel by reducing the unnecessary burden of driving due to the continuous artificial navigation, and avoiding the route deviation. During the step of the ship autonomic navigation control, since the wind power or the tidal force could make the ship deviate from the fixed course, the automatic steering calculates the difference between actual sailing line and the set course to keep the ship sailing in the vicinity of intended course. first, we could get the transfer function for the modeling of ship according to the Nomoto model. Considering the maneuverability, we propose it as linear model with only 4 degree of freedoms to present the heading angle response to the input of rudder angle. In this paper, the model of ship is derived from the simplified Nomoto model. Since the proposed model considers the maximum angle and rudder rate of the ship auto pilot and also designs the Fuzzy controller based on existing PID controller, the performance of the steering machine is well improved.

New and renewable energy sources have drawn attention because of climate change. Many studies have been carried out in waste-to-energy field. Fast pyrolysis of waste lignocelluosic biomass is one of the waste-to-energy technologies. Bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) reactor is widely used for fast pyrolysis of the biomass. In BFB pyrolyzer, bubble behavior influences on the chemical reaction. Accordingly, in the present study, hydrodynamic characteristics and fast pyrolysis reaction of waste lignocellulosic biomass occurring in a BFB pyrolyzer are scrutinized. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation of the fast pyrolysis reactor is carried out by using Eulerian-Granular approach. And two-stage semi-global kinetics is applied for modeling the fast pyrolysis reaction of waste lignocellulosic biomass. To summarize, generation and ascendant motion of bubbles in the bed affect particle behavior. Thus biomass particles are well mixed with hot sand and consequent rapid heat transfer occurs from sand to biomass particles. As a result, primary reaction is observed throughout the bed. And reaction rate of tar formation is the highest. Consequently, tar accounts for 66wt.% of the product gas. However, secondary reaction occurs mostly in the freeboard. Therefore, it is considered that bubble behavior and particle motions hardly influences on the secondary reaction.
This study was performed during the four seasons for the production of transgenic pigs containing the human erythropoietin(hEPO) transgene. Purebred Landrace gilts and sows approximately 8∼15 months of age (n=42) were used fur the collection of 1-cell zygotes for DNA microinjection and transfer. Retrospectively, estrus synchronization and superovulation schemes were evaluated to assess practicality for zygote collection. Synchronization and superovulation procedures were used that cyclic gilts were synchronized with 20mg altrenogest (ALT) per day for 9days after PG600 administration followed by superovulation with 1500IU pregnant mares serum gonadotropin (PMSG) and 500IU human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG). Preparation of recombinant gene for microinjection is mice whey acidic protein promoter (mWAP) linked to human erythropoietin (hEPO) gene. After hormone treatment, 650 embryos were collected from 23 donors and 83.1% (540/650) embryos were in 1-cell stage which can be visualized the pronuclei for DNA microinjection. A total of 543 DNA microinjected embryos fiom donors were transferred to 19 synchronized recipients, seven of them maintained pregnancy and delivered 47 piglets. One of the 47 offsprings were determined to have transgene by PCR analysis. The overall rate of transgenic production was 2.13% (tansgenic/offspring). This study provides the success and useful information regarding production of transgenic pig for bioreactor research.

Synchronization and superovulation procedures were used that cyclic gilts were synchronized with 20mg altrenogest (ALT) per day for 9 days after PG600 administration followed by superovulation with 1000 IU pregnant mares serum gonadotropin (PMSG) and 750IU human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG). The cellulase digestion gene for microinjection is rat elasterase promoter (rEl) linked to CelD gene. After hormone treatment, 1,422 embryos were collected from 91 donors and 95.6% (1,359/1,422) embryos were in 1-cell stage which can be visualized the pronuclei for DNA microinjection. A total of 725 DNA microinjected embryos transferred into 35 recipients and produced 65 piglets from 13 litters. Pregnancy rate according to the number of transferred embryos to recipients was higher the group which received 21 to 24 embryos (50.0%) than other groups 20.0% in less and 33.3% in more. A tail tissue was collected from 65 piglets for biopsy. PCR screening was performed on each DNA sample using two separate sets of primers specific for the 5'- and 3'-flanking region of the rEl-CelD gene. Five of the 65 piglets (7.69%) were positive for the transgene. This study provide useful information regarding production of transgenic pig for bioreactor research.
This study analyzed the achievement characteristics of 21st Century Frontier R&D Program depending on the subject of study, type, period in order to provide necessary data required during planning and execution of the large scale R&D projects. 21st Century Frontier R&D Program is a representative national R&D project that has been supported for a decade. The research achievements were analyzed for researchers who participated in each four projects completed in 2010 and 2011 among 16 R&D projects of 21st Century Frontier R&D Program promoted by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The research is summarized as follows. First, the achievements varied depending on the main agent such as universities, R&D institutions, and industries. The achievement of universities includes significantly larger publications than those of R&D institutions and industries. Second, the rate of overseas patent application and registration were higher in industries significantly than those in other research agents. Third, the achievements differed depending on research type such as basic, applied, and development researches, and the development researches exhibited significantly higher achievements in domestic patent application and registration, overseas patent application, and technology transfer. Fourth, in terms of the research period, long-term projects show significantly larger number of domestic patent applications than those from short-term projects. Fifth, when achievements like the publication and overseas patent application were classified in such fields as bio, nano, and energy environment R&D, bio and nano fields showed higher achievement than the energy environment field. This research could empirically confirm that the achievement characteristics of large scale and long-term government support R&D projects vary for each research properties.

This study was undertaken to analyze the effects of pavement thermal properties and water retention characteristics on the surface temperature of the gray permeable cement concrete pavement during the summer. Following is a summary of major results. 1) The hourly surface temperature of pavement could be well predicted with a heat transfer model program that incorporated the input data of major meteorological variables including solar radiation, atmospheric temperature, dew point, wind velocity, cloudiness and the evaporation rate of the pavements predicted by the time domain reflectometry (TDR) method. 2) When the albedo was changed to 0.5 from an arbitrary starting condition of 0.3, holding other variables constant, the peak surface temperature of the pavement dropped by 11.5%. When heat capacity was changed to $2.5\;kJm^{-3}K^{-1}\;from\;1.5\;kJm^{-3}K^{-1}$, surface temperature dropped by 8.0%. When daily evaporation was changed to 1 mm from 2 mm, temperature dropped by 5.7%. When heat conductivity was changed to $2.5\;Wm^{-1}K^{-1}\;from\;1.5\;Wm^{-1}K^{-1}$, the peak surface temperature of the pavement fell by 1.2%. The peak pavement surface temperature under the arbitrary basic condition was $24.46^{\circ}C$ (12 a.m.). 3) It accordingly became evident that the pavement surface temperature can be most effectively lowered by using materials with a high albedo, a high heat capacity or a high evaporation at the pavement surface. The glare situation, however, is intensified by raising of the albedo, moreover if reflected light is absorbed into surrounding physical masses, it is changed into heat. It accordingly became evident that raising the heat capacity and the evaporative capacity may be the moot acceptable measures to improve the thermal characteristics of the pavement. 4) The sensitivity of the surface temperature to major meteorological variables was as follows. When the daily average temperature changed to $0^{\circ}C\;from\;15^{\circ}C$, holding all other variables constant, the peak surface temperature of the pavement decreased by 56.1 %. When the global solar radiation changed to $200\;Wm^{-2}\;from\;600\;Wm^{-2}$, the temperature of the pavement decreased by 23.4%. When the wind velocity changed to $8\;ms^{-1}\;from\;4\;ms^{-1}$, the temperature decreased by 1.4%. When the cloudiness level changed to 1.0 from 0.5, the peak surface temperature decreased by 0.7%. The peak pavement surface temperature under the arbitrary basic conditions was $24.46^{\circ}C$ (12 a.m.)
The novel integrated device, 1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ DR-LD(distrbuted reflector laser diode) integrated EA-MOD (electro-absorption modulator) as light source, is proposed to improve the device yield and its operational performances. This device can be easily fabricated by the selective MOVPE technique and its fabrication processes are almost the same as the reported 1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ DFB-LD(distributed feedback laser diode) integrated EA-MOD except the asymmetric gratings. The static and dynamic properties are investigated simultaneously by solving the transfer matrix method for light propagation, the time-dependent rate equation for carrier change and schr$\"{o}$dinger equation for QCSE (Quantum-Confined Stark Effect). The performances of the proposed device such as output power, chirp, and extinction ratio are compared with those of DFB-LD integrated EA-MOD. Under 10Gb/s NRZ modulation, we obtain that DR-LD integrated EA-MOD. is 30% higher in output power on the on-state, about 50% lower in chirp, and slightly larger in extinction ratio than DFB-LD integrated EA-MOD.-MOD.
