  • The containment pressure and temperature transient analysis computer code CONTEMPT4/MOD5 is modified to incorporate the passive containment cooling models. The correlations are selected from the existing experimental heat transfer correlations to model the natural and mixed convection in annular space between the containment shell and the shield building. The evaporative heat transfer of the water film on the outer shell of the containment is modeled using the correlations derived from the analogy between the heat and mass transfer. The modified code is applied to the Ap600 containment transient analysis for the model verification and the results are compared to the results of GOTHIC calculation done by Westinghouse. Also, d series of parametric sensitivity studies of heat transfer correlations, water film ratio and delay time of the wet cooling on the containment peak pressure and temperature following LOCA are performed for the containment of 1000MWe passive plant, KP1000.

  • In this paper, polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor using by Solid Phase Crystallization(SPC) were fabricated, and these devices were measured and analyzed the electrical output and transfer characteristics along to DC voltage stress. The transfer characteristics of polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor depended on drain and gate voltages. Threshold voltage is high with long channel length and narrow channel width. And output characteristics of polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor flowed abruptly much higher drain current. The devices induced electrical stress are decreased drain current. At last, field effect mobility is the faster as channel length is high and channel width is narrow.

  • This article investigates the heat transfer characteristics in a RTA system for LCD manufacturing and suggests a way to evaluate the quality of a poly-Si film from the thin film optics analysis. The transient and one-dimensional conductive/radiative heat transfer equation considering wave interference effect is solved to predict surface temperatures of thin films. In dealing with radiative heat transfer, a one-dimensional two-flux method is used and the ray tracing method is also utilized to account for the wave interference effects. It is assumed that each interface is assumed diffusive but the spectral radiative properties are included. It is found that the selective heating region exists for various wavelengths and consequently may contribute to heat the poly-Si film. Using the formalism of the characteristic transmission matrix, the lumped structure reflectance, transmittance, and absorptance are calculated and they are compared with experimental data of the poly-Si film during the SPC process via the FE-RTA (Field-Enhanced RTA) technology.

  • The molecular dynamics simulation of nanoimprint lithography (NIL) using $SiO_2$ stamp and amorphous poly-(methylmethacrylate) (PNMA) film is performed to study pattern transfer in NIL. Force fields including bond, angle, torsion, van der Waals and electrostatic potential are used to describe the intermolecular and intramolecular force of PMMA molecules and $SiO_2$ stamp. Nose-Hoover thermostat is used to control the system temperature and cell multipole method is adopted to treat long range interactions. The deformation of PMMA film is observed during pattern transfer in the NIL process. For the detail analysis of deformation characteristics, the distributions of density and stress in PMHA film are calculated. The adhesion and friction forces are obtained by dividing the PMMA film into subregions and calculating the interacting force between subregion and stamp. Their effects on the pattern transfer are also discussed as varying the indentation depth and speed.

  • In a nuclear reactor containment, wall condensation forms with noncondensable gases and their accumulation near the condensate film leads to a significant reduction in heat transfer. In the framework of nuclear reactor safety, the film condensation in the presence of noncondensable gases is of high relevance with regards to safety concerns as it is closely associated with peak pressure predictions for containment integrity and the performance of components installed for containment cooling in accident conditions. In the present study, CUPID code, which has been developed by KAERI for the analysis of transient two-phase flows in nuclear reactor components, is improved for simulating film condensation in the presence of noncondensable gases. In order to evaluate the condensate heat transfer accurately in a large system using the two-fluid model, a mass diffusion model, a liquid film model, and a wall film condensation model were implemented into CUPID. For the condensation simulation, a wall function approach with a heat/mass transfer analogy was applied in order to save computational time without considerable refinement for the boundary layer. This paper presents the implemented wall film condensation model, and then introduces the simulation result using the improved CUPID for a conceptual condensation problem in a large system.

  • In the present study, we developed a numerical analysis software to predict performance of tilting-pad thrust bearings. The finite element method was adopted to compute lubricant film pressure and temperature. Three-dimensional heat transfer equations were solved simultaneously for the lubricant film, pad, and runner. Groove temperature was assumed with two different models. From application of the software to a thrust bearing, it has been seen that the three-dimensional analysis predicts higher temperature than the average temperature analysis. It has also been found that the groove model with a hot-oil-carry-over factor predicts higher temperature.

  • Analysis of drying characteristics has been carried out with one-dimensional model in the dryer using the principle of the refraction of radiation. The dryer is composed of hot water tank, a plastic film conveyer belt, drying material, etc. The model considers the conduction and radiation within the plastic film and drying material. The film is semitransparent to radiation and the drying material is assumed to be semitransparent or opaque to radiation. The results shows that the effect of radiative transfer on the drying rate is relatively large when the thickness of drying material is small and the water temperature is high. When the material is thin, the drying rate by only conduction is also enhanced so that drying time can considerably be reduced.

  • Transient Analysis on heat transfer of rocket engine combustion chamber and wall temperature variation was carried out, especially, calculations of LOx/kerosene rocket engine with/without fuel film-cooling were conducted. Convective and radiative heat flux inside combustion chamber wall were calculated by the empirical equations for rocket engine combustion, and conduction of wall interior was calculated by numerical method with 2D axisymmetric grid. In this calculations the transient variations of wall temperature, the location changes of peak temperature and so on affected by film-cooling were analyzed.
