  • Recently, many railway stations are built under the railway line in urban area. The passage of railway vehicles generates mechanical vibrations of a wide range of frequency. Thus, it is required to place structural vibration isolation systems to reduce vibration and noise originating from surrounding environments. This study utilizes elastometric bearings as a vibration isolation system. The slab track system on elastometric bearings is called "low vibration track" or "floating slab track." In this low vibration track system, dowel bars or plates can be installed to minimize the discontinuity of displacement between adjacent floating slab tracks. This study is to numerically investigate the effects of dowel members on static behavior of the low vibration track. The study involves two steel dowel systems including dowel bars and dowel plates. Each dowel system is analyzed under the service load condition to assess load transfer efficiency (LTE).

용적이행을 고려한 GMA 용접의 열원 모델링 (Heat Source Modeling of GMAW Considering Metal Transfer)

  • The Gaussian heat source has been widely used to simulate the heat flux of the welding we, and applied to calculating the temperature distribution of a workpiece. The conventional two-dimensional Gaussian heat source for the GMAW is modified in this work by decomposing the arc heat into heats of the cathode and metal transfer. The efficiency and effective arc radius of each heat source are determined analytically for the free-flight mode such as the globular and spray modes. The temperature distribution and weld geometry are calculated using the finite element method, and distribution of the drop heat is found to have significant effects on the penetration. The predicted results show good agreements with the available experimental results, especially with the penetration.

  • To review mass transfer trays from a process of view, the dependence of efficiency in loading ranges and maximum loadings with an acceptable efficiency of traditional tray have to be known. It is reported about the performance of the metallic Dualflex, relatively new high performance packing. Absorption, desorption and rectification tests as well as pressure drop and maximum capacity are concerned, indicate the superiority of the Dualflex over the general packing of comparable, main process. The process engineering characteristics show that Dualflex can be applied for all mass transfer precesses and it is to be recommended especially for those high capacity separations which requite allow low pressure drop because of the thermal sensibility of the product or because of the need of energy saving.

  • In this study, a two-liquid-phase (TLP) bioreactor was conducted to enhance the biodegradation efficiency and rate of PAH. Phenanthrene was degraded efficiently irrespective of the type and the amount of water-immiscible liquid (WIL). The degradation efficiency of anthracene was much higher in paraffine oil than in silicone oil because the mass transfer of anthracene was different in the two WILs. Pyrene was only transferred from soil to WIL during 5 days. It seemed that the degradation of PAH in the TLP bioreactor was mainly dependent on the mass transfer of PAH.

  • Due to high permeability of the ferrite cores, the characteristics of the inductively coupled plasma(ICP) are expected to be greatly improved. We investigated the effect of the ferrite cores on conventional inductively coupled plasma. It was observed that the current and voltage in the ICP antenna are slightly decreased and the power transfer efficiency is increased. However, due to eddy current and hysteresis loss, plasma density in the ICP with the ferrite cores is not increased. It seems that the ICP with the ferrite cores at low frequency ($\∼$100 kHz) will be greatly improved since the losses at the low frequency can be negligible.

  • Railway system is a word that includes rolling stock, railway infrastructure and signalling System in passenger transfer and rail freight. This system get higher competitiveness in energy efficiency part than other transfer system. But it is comprehensive system has latent loss of lives and property by big accident. First of all, to control this comprehensive system and to confirm safety of it, we need human resource management. This research will suggest how to apply efficiency safety verification and certification system to railway system. human resource management systems is defined as three kinds that is recruitment and management, ensure personnel's competencies and fitness, activity of assigning suitable responsible person for work.

  • Silica monolith powders were prepared by a new procedure where ground powders of proper size distribution were obtained without sieving. An initiator was attached to this ground monolith and polystyrene was bound by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization to give a new stationary phase. The separation efficiency of this phase was found better than that of the polystyrene bound phase based on conventional silica particles and that of the C18 bound silica monolith powders.

  • In this paper, we report a new cationic lipid composed of L-lysinamide and cholesterol as a potent gene delivery vector. $3{\beta}$[L-Lysinamide-carbamoyl] cholesterol could self-assemble with plasmid DNA forming discrete lipoplexes. From atomic force microscopic images of the complexes, the size distribution was observed to range from 100 to 150 nm in diameter. The transfection efficiency of this amphiphile on different cell lines was evaluated as a micellar solution in the absence of the fusogenic helper lipid, dioleoyl phosphatidyletbanolamine (DOPE). Transfection experiments were performed as a function of charge ratio (lipid/DNA) and transfection time. Cytotoxicity and in vitro transfection efficiency of the amphiphile was demonstrated and compared with those of commercially available Lipofectin and polyethylenimine (PEI).

  • This paper is to provide analysis model that can be used to investigate the improvement in energy efficiency for cooling tower by using fresh air. Numerical analysis of Air-cooled heat exchanger for single-phase flow with variations of outdoor air temperature has been performed. A complete set of correlations of the heat transfer in both refrigerant and air sides was employed for predicting the heat transfer rate. The numerical results derived from the correlations were verified with experimental results. The energy consumption for a hybrid cooling tower has been compared for variation of a outdoor air temperature. The results showed that the hybrid cooling tower in low outdoor temperature offers a significant improvement in energy efficiency. The thermal analysis aids significantly in the solution of the design problem of hybrid cooling tower.

  • High speed and large transfer capability of railroad has been an important issue in Korean since KTX opening at 2004. Improvement projects for railway electrification are progressed in the conventional line as well as high speed line because various operation plan is performed such as interaction between high speed line and conventional line and operation of tilting train etc. Especially, railway electrification has many advantages which are cost effective and eco-friendly. But it also has some problems such as construction costs and accidents due to electrification. Therefore this paper developed measuring index of electrification railway benefit. By comparing between diesel and electrical locomotive, the operations of before and after the electrification and measurements quantitative index such as energy efficiency, enlargement of transfer capability, environmental pollution and maintenance and efficiency of operation is presented. In the future, Overall benefit and cost of railway electrification will be analyzed.
