Performance Analysis of Magnetic Power Pads for Inductive Power Transfer Systems with Ferrite Structure Variation

  • In this paper, performance of rectangular shaped magnetic power pads for inductive power transfer (IPT) system according to ferrite structure is analyzed. In order to evaluate the influences of ferrite structure, six cases of magnetic power pads are proposed. Self-inductance, coupling coefficient, quality factor, and coil to coil efficiency are compared as the displacement increases in the direction of x or y axis. For accurate estimation, finite element method (FEM) simulation is used and loss components of the power pads are numerically calculated and considered. Through the simulation and measured results, effectiveness of protrusive and enveloping ferrite structure is identified.

  • In this study, an inductive power transfer (IPT) charger for electric vehicles is proposed to improve the entire system efficiency and power density by eliminating the DC-DC converter in the secondary side. In the proposed IPT charger, the DC-link voltage is adjusted according to the coupling coefficient through cascade buck-boost converter in the front-end side, and the bridgeless rectifier performs the charging of battery. The control algorithm for the proposed IPT system is theoretically explained, and the validity of the proposed system is verified by informative simulation.

  • The improvements of the propulsive engine efficiencies could reduce the fuel consumption. Therefore. for a marine main diesel engine the substantial increase of stroke bore ratio. so that the engine speed can be significantly reduced in order to increase the Propulsive efficiency. As a typical example. a Sulzer RTA 60C engine has acylinder diameter of 600 mm and each cylinder is capable of delivering 2.369 kW in the speed range 91-114 rpm. In order to Provide basic data for thermal system of marine engine. this work performs an experimental study of heat transfer in a square channel with one rib-roughened wall under sin91e mode of reciprocating oscillation. A selection of heat transfer measurements illustrates the manner by which the reciprocating channel with two opposite heating walls has the higher heat transfer Performance than with four heating wall.

Rapid Energy Transfer Mechanism of F Electronic Excitation to the Vibration of Randomly Distributed $OH^- in KCI

  • The nature of F electronic excitation energy transfer to OH- vibrational levels in KCl crystals is the exchange interaction, although the transfer process exhibits three temporally distinguishable components depending on the distance between excited F center and OH-. The critical distance as well as rate of the major energy transfer process in randomly distributed samples increases rapidly as OH- librational motions become active with temperature rise. The excited state character introduced into the OH- ground electronic state by perturbation is essential for the exchange interaction. The perturbation is brought about by the expanded electron cloud of excited F center for OH- associated to F center, whereas by librations and lattice vibrations perpendicular to the bond axis for isolated OH- . F excitation quenching efficiency by OH- is dependent on the variation of the critical distance rather than the rate as the rate is much faster than the normal F bleach recovery rate.

Photoinduced Electron Transfer from Excited Ruthenium Complexes at Nanocrystalline $TiO_2$ Electrodes

  • Photoinduced electron transfer from the charge-transfer excited states of Ru(tpy)(bpy(COOH)₂)$CN^+$, Ru(tpy)(bpy(COOH)₂)$Cl^+$, Ru(tpy)(bpy(COOH)₂)H₂+O², and Ru(tpy)(bqu(COOH)₂)$Cl^+$ to the conduction band of TiO₂ has been studied through photoelectrochemical methods. Ru(tpy)(bpy(COOH)₂)$CN^+$ produced the highest current density and open-circuit photovoltage, whereas Ru(tpy)(bqy(COOH)₂)$Cl^+$ produced the lowest values. A potential barrier was employed to explain the experimental result that the rate of the electron transfer increases with increasing the energy difference between the donor and acceptor. A sensitizer with a high current density yielded a high photovoltage and a high conversion efficiency. The reduction rate of the oxidized sensitizer decreased with the increases in the reduction potential of the sensitizer, resulting in a poor stability of a photoelectrochemical cell.

소득 이전과 임금 보조금 정책의 효과 비교 (Relative Effects of Income Transfer and Wage Subsidy)

  • 본 논문은 간단한 일반균형 모형을 통해 소득 이전과 임금 보조금 정책의 경제 효과를 비교한다. 지원 대상인 저임금 근로자가 수요의 소득탄력성이 높은 재화 및 서비스 생산에 집약되어 있을수록 조세를 통한 재분배 효과는 제한적으로 나타난다. 한편, 지원 방식에 있어서 근로장려세제와 같은 임금보조금(wage subsidy) 정책은 단순한 소득 이전(income transfer)에 비해 고용과 GDP 증가라는 긍정적 효과를 동반할 수 있지만, 그 재분배 효과는 노동공급뿐 아니라 노동수요의 탄력성에 크게 의존하는 것으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 효율성과 형평성의 최적 조합을 위해서는, 각 정책의 효과에 대해 면밀한 실증분석이 필요하다고 판단된다.

Development of the Dynamic Simulation Program of a Multi-Inverter Heat Pump under Frosting Conditions

  • In case of heat exchangers operating under frosting condition, the thermal resistance and the air-side pressure loss increase with a growth of frost layer. In this paper, a transient characteristic prediction model of the heat transfer for a multi-inverter heat pump with frosting on its surface was presented by taking into account the change of the fin efficiency due to the growth of the frost layer. This dynamic simulation program was developed for a basic air conditioning system composed of an evaporator, a condenser, a compressor, a linear electronic expansion valve, and a bypass circuit. The theoretical model was derived from measured heat transfer and mass transfer coefficients. We also considered that the heat transfer performance was only affected by the decrease of wind flow area. The calculated results were compared with the experimental results for frosting conditions.

Primary astrocytic mitochondrial transplantation ameliorates ischemic stroke

  • Mitochondria are important organelles that regulate adenosine triphosphate production, intracellular calcium buffering, cell survival, and apoptosis. They play therapeutic roles in injured cells via transcellular transfer through extracellular vesicles, gap junctions, and tunneling nanotubes. Astrocytes can secrete numerous factors known to promote neuronal survival, synaptic formation, and plasticity. Recent studies have demonstrated that astrocytes can transfer mitochondria to damaged neurons to enhance their viability and recovery. In this study, we observed that treatment with mitochondria isolated from rat primary astrocytes enhanced cell viability and ameliorated hydrogen peroxide-damaged neurons. Interestingly, isolated astrocytic mitochondria increased the number of cells under damaged neuronal conditions, but not under normal conditions, although the mitochondrial transfer efficiency did not differ between the two conditions. This effect was also observed after transplanting astrocytic mitochondria in a rat middle cerebral artery occlusion model. These findings suggest that mitochondria transfer therapy can be used to treat acute ischemic stroke and other diseases.

보현산 천문대 1번 CCD카메라의 실험실 테스트 (LABORATORY TEST OF CCD #1 IN BOAO)

  • An introduction to the first CCD camera system in Bohyunsan Optica1 Astronomy Observatory(CCD#l) is presented. The CCD camera adopts modular dewar design of IfA(Institute for Astronomy at Hawaii University) and SDSU(San Diego State University) general purpose CCD controller. The user interface is based on IfA design of easy-to-use QUI program running on the NeXT workstation. The characteristics of the CCD#l including Gain, Charge Transfer Efficiency, rms Read-Out Noise, Linearity and Dynamic range is tested and discussed. The CCD#l shows 6.4 electrons RON and gain of 3.49 electrons per ADU, and the optimization resulted in about 27 seconds readout time guaranteeing charge transfer efficiency of 0.99999 for both direction. Linearity test shows that non-linear coefficient is $6{\times}10^{-7}$ in the range of 0 to 30,000 ADU.

  • The present study was conducted to investigate the developmental competency between male- and female-somatic cell derived nuclear-transferred porcine embryos, and the productive and survival efficiency of cloned male and female piglets. The potential of eggs receiving somatic cells to develop into blastocysts was not different among donor cells of different origins. (omitted)
