Cylindrical film-cooling hole is formulated numerically and optimized to enhance film-cooling effectiveness. The Kriging method is used an optimization technique with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes analysis of fluid and heat transfer with shear stress transport model. The hole length-to-diameter ratio and injection angle are chosen as design variables and spatially averaged film-cooling effectiveness is considered as objective function which is to be maximized. Twelve training points obtained by Latin Hypercube Sampling for two design variables. Optimum shape shows the film-cooling effectiveness increased.
The indicated power of Stirling engine was affected by the heat exchange effectiveness of the regenerator. The temperature difference of working fluid between the expansion and the compression space of Stilting engine depends on the heat exchange effectiveness of the regenerator. The influence of the temperature ratio of expansion space to compression space of Stirling engine on the indicated power was analyzed by using Schmidt analysis in this study. In the Stirring engine, as the temperature ratio increased, the indicated power generally decreased. Therefor, it is necessary to develope the regenerator of high effectiveness. The actual indicated power was shown 64.9 percent of the predicted indicated power in maximum and 47.2 percent of that in minimum due to increased dead volume of engine, the loss of flow friction and heat transfer in the regenerator.

A computer program for thermal design analysis has been developed to predict the performance of an absorption heat transformer. The effects of temperature boost, cooling water temperature and effectiveness of components on the performance were investigated. Not only the detailed thermodynamic states such as temperatures, concentration of the solution, and mass flow rate at each point of the process but also the heat transfer rate in each component could be easily determined with given input parameters. The system's coefficient of performance (COP) was seen to increase with increased effectiveness of components, decreased temperature boost of hot water, and decreased cooling water temperature. Even though the COP increases with increased effectiveness of the components, the variation in the COP is not substantial above certain values of the effectiveness. A reference design point can be selected on this basis.
In this work the dynamic heat transfer occurring in a cable penetration fire stop system built in the firewall of nuclear power plants is three-dimensionally investigated to develop a test-simulator that can be used to verify effectiveness of the sealants. The dynamic heat transfer can be described by a partial differential equation (PDE) and its initial and boundary conditions. For the shake of simplicity PDE is divided into two parts; one corresponding to the heat transfer in the axial direction and the other corresponding to the heat transfer on the vertical layers. Two numerical methods, SOR (Sequential Over-Relaxation) and FEM (Finite Element Method), are implemented to solve these equations respectively. The axial line is discretized, and SOR is applied. Similarly, all the layers are separated into finite elements, where the time and spatial functions are assumed to be of orthogonal collocation state at each element. The heat fluxes on the layers are calculated by FEM. It is shown that the penetration cable influences the temperature distribution of the fire stop system very significantly. The simulation results are shown in the three-dimensional graphics for the understanding of the transient temperature distribution in the fire stop system.

A theoretical analysis was performed on the heat transfer by laminar oscillating flow in a simplified heat exchanger of a Stirling cycle machine and the results were compared with the experiment of Hwang. In the analysis the general solution to the temperature field obtained by Lee et. al was applied and extended to a more realistic situation. The results show that the heat transfer is influenced by the ratio of the swept distance of the fluid to the length of the heat exchanger as well as the oscillation frequency. This is well consistent with the result of Hwang's experiment. It is also revealed that there exist three distinct regimes having different heat transfer mechanisms. Through the scale analysis the main parameters governing the heat transfer in each regime are reduced and the dependency of the heat transfer on the parameters are examined.

The effect of injection angle and blowing rate on a film-cooled flat plate has been investigated experimentally. Three cases of 90.deg. injection, 35.deg. streamwise injection and 35.deg. spanwise injection are employed. The naphthalene sublimation technique in used to obtain local mass transfer coefficients. Thus heat transfer coefficients are evaluated using heat-mass transfer analogy. Schlieren photographs are taken to visualize the trajectory of injection fluid by introducing carbon dioxide gas through injection tubes. The experiments indicate that due to the injection the heat transfer coefficients increase significantly in the neighborhood of the infection holes, so the design of film cooled component must be based on the heat transfer coefficient with injection as well as film cooling effectiveness.
For efficient use of solar energy in plastic greenhouse, thermal storage system was developed. The system was constructed with the counter-flow type air-water heat exchanger using a thin polyethylene film as a medium of heat exchange parts. Experiments were carried out to investigate the heat exchange rate, optimum water flow rate, overall heat transfer coefficient, and the effectiveness of the counter-flow type air-water heat exchanger with polyethylene film bags. Mathematical model to predict air temperature leaving heat exchanger was developed. The results obtained in the present study are summarized as follows. 1. Heat exchange rate in the counter-flow type air-water heat exchanger with polyethylene film bags was compared to that of polyethylene film. Heat exchange rate was almost identical at air velocity of 0.5m/s on polyethylene film surface. But, heat exchange rate of heat exchanger with polyethylene film bag was $32{\sim}55KJ/m^2$ hr higher than that of polyethylene film at air velocity of 1.0m/s. 2. Considering the formation of uniform water film and the sufficient heat exchange rate of polyethylene film bags, optimum water flow rate in polyethylene film bags was $3.0{\sim}6.0{\ell}/m^2$ min. 3. The overall heat transfer coefficient of polyethylene film bags was found to be $35.0{\sim}130.0KJ/m^2\;hr\;^{\circ}C$ corresponding to the air velocity ranging 0.5 to 4.0 m/s on polyethylene film surface. And the overall heat transfer coefficient showed almost linearly increasing tendency to the variation of air velocity. 4. Mathematical model to predict air temperature leaving the heat exchanger was developed, resulting in a good agreement between the experimental and predicted values. But, the experimental results were a little lower than predicted. 5. Effectiveness of heat exchanger for the experiment was found to be 0.40~0.81 corresponding to the number of transfer units due to the variation of air velocity ranging 0.6 to 1.7 m/s.
Objective: The aim of this study sets factors from previous research known to impact transfer effects as the independent variables, and examines their relationship with the dependent variables, near transfer effects and far transfer effects. Background: Transfer of Training refers to the application of what learners acquire knowledge and skills in training programs to their job. The ultimate goal of training is to apply what employees learn in training sessions to their workplace. In this sense, transfer of training has been a vital concern for training effectiveness. For training to be effective, trainees(learners) should be able to use what they learn in training program back on the job. Method: For this research purpose, this study conducted a survey on 170 nuclear operators in nuclear education and training center. Of these, survey result from the 167 recruits were sampled. Theoretical model of this study is based on Holton & Baldwin's(2003) distance model of transfer effects. This study sets transfer effects(near transfer, far transfer) as the main dependent variables. Meanwhile, the independent variables are trainee characteristics, training characteristics, organizational transfer climate. Each independent variable has subordinate variables. Subordinate variables of trainee characteristics are self-efficacy, motivation to learn, motivation to transfer and ability to transfer. Subordinate variables of training characteristics are training contents, ability of trainers, training design, training climate. The last Subordinate variables of organizational transfer climate are support of supervisors, support of peer, support of organization. Conclusion: As a analysis result, trainee characteristics appeared to be in effect only significant influence near far transfer of training, the effect of the far transfer of training, there is no significant. In addition, the training characteristics appeared to be having a significant influence on near and far transfer effects. Organizational transfer climate appeared to be having a significant influence on near and far transfer effects. Finally, near transfer effect appeared to be having a significant influence on far transfer effects. Application: Results of this analysis in the study to training organization and training characteristics of the transition environment effects on nuclear power institutions and operators training organization having a significant impact that says. The transfer of knowledge and technology, as well as that can be applied to a new situation in terms of education and training are important characteristics.

Experiments were performed to characterize single-phase heat transfer behavior of submerged liquid jet with multiple nozzle normally impinging on the smooth and extended surfaces. Arrays of 9 and 36 nozzles were used, with diameters of 0.5 to 2.0mm providing nozzle area ratio (AR) from 0.05 to 0.2. The square pin fin arrays were chosen as extended surfaces and the effects of geometrical parameters such as fin height, the ratio of fin width to channel width on heat transfer enhancement were examined. Single nozzle characteristics were also evaluated for comparison. The results clearly showed that heat transfer enhancement could be realized by using multiple nozzles at the constant volume flow rate. The average Nusselt number of multiple nozzle impingement on the smooth surface was correlated by the following equation : Nu/$Pr\frac{1}{3}=0.94 Re^{0.56}N^{-0.12}AR^{0.50}$The average heat transfer coefficients of multiple nozzle impingement on the extended surfaces decreased with increasing fin height and the ratio of fin width to channel width. The effectiveness of ex-tended surfaces ranged from 1.5 to 3.5 depending on the fin height, the ratio of fin width to channel width of pin fin arrays, nozzle number and nozzle area ratio.
In this paper, a minimum time path planning strategy is proposed for multi points manufacturing problems in drilling/spot welding tasks. By optimizing the travelling schedule of the set points and the detailed transfer path between points, the minimum time manufacturing task is realized under fully utilizing the dynamic performance of robotic manipulator. According to the start-stop movement in drilling/spot welding task, the path planning problem can be converted into a traveling salesman problem (TSP) and a series of point to point minimum time transfer path planning problems. Cubic Hermite interpolation polynomial is used to parameterize the transfer path and then the path parameters are optimized to obtain minimum point to point transfer time. A new TSP with minimum time index is constructed by using point-point transfer time as the TSP parameter. The classical genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to obtain the optimal travelling schedule. Several minimum time drilling tasks of a 3-DOF robotic manipulator are used as examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
