연계된 계통간의 최적 송전 용량 산정 (Evaluation of Optimal Transfer Capability in Power System Interconnection)

  • As the electrical power industry is restructured, the electrical power exchange is becoming extended. One of the key information used to determine how much power can be transferred through the network is known as available transfer capability (ATC). To calculate ATC, traditional deterministic approach is based on the severest case, but the approach has the complexity of procedure. Therefore, novel approach for ATC calculation is proposed using cost-optimization method, well-being method and risk-benefit method in this paper. This paper proposes the optimal transfer capability of HVDC system between mainland and a separated island in Korea through these three methods. These methods will consider production cost, wheeling charge through HVDC system and outage cost with one depth (N-1 contingency).

  • The transmission capacity has been highlighted as a problem in the power company according to operated heavy loaded of transmission facility. The total transfer capability in the KEPCO power system is determined mainly by the voltage stability limit and many approaches for enhancement of the total transfer capability has been consistently performed. This paper proposes a study on determination of the adequate var sizing of power compensator regarding the transfer capability enhancement in power system. This method was controlled power compensator in substation becasue of the voltage stability. It was simulated power system using EMS peak data.

  • Available transfer capability(ATC) is an important indicator of the usable amount of transmission capacity accessible by several parties for commercial trading in power transaction activities. This paper deals with an application of optimization technique for available transfer capability(ATC) calculation and analyzes the results of ATC by using several variables of optimal power flow. The method proposed is applied to the modified IEEE 14 buses model system.

  • This paper presents a method to assess total transfer capability (TTC) by using energy function. To get the critical energy, the potential energy boundary surface(PEBS) method which is one of the transient energy function(TEF) method is used. TTC assessment is to calculate TTC by using the repeated power flow (RPF) method. It is seen that energy margin can be use to assess available transfer capability(ATC).

  • This paper deals with shunt compensation to eliminate voltage violation and enhance transfer capability, which is motivated towards implementation in the Korean power system. The optimal shunt compensation algorithm has demonstrated its effectiveness in terms of voltage accuracy and reducing the number of actions of reactive power compensating devices. The main shunt compensation devices are capacitor and reactor. Effects of control devices are evaluated by cost computations. The control objective at present is to keep the voltage profile of a key bus within constraints with minimum switching cost. A robust control strategy is proposed to make the control feasible and optimal for a set of power-flow cases that may occurs important event from system. Case studies with metropolitan area of the Korean power system are presented to illustrate the method.

  • This paper presents a probabilistic method for describing the transfer capability of one area in an interconnected power system. The approach is based on Monte Carlo simulation scheme. The result of this method is the probability distribution of transfer capability. The distribution yield a general framework for probabilistic analysis of STC. IEEE RTS-24 power system is utilized to evaluate the proposed method.

  • According to NERC definition, Available Transfer Capability (ATC) is a measure of the transfer capability remaining in the physical transmission network for the future commercial activity To calculate ATC, accurate and defensible TTC, CBM and TRM should be calculated in advance. This paper proposes a method to quantify time varying ATC based on probabilistic approach. The uncertainties of power system and market are considered as complex random variables. TRM with the desired probabilistic margin is calculated based on PLF analysis, and CBM is evaluated using LOLE of the system. Suggested ATC quantification method is verified using IEEE RTS with 72 bus. The proposed method shows efficiency and flexibility for the quantification of ATC.

  • The SVC(Static Var Compensator) resulted from the FACTS technology can generate or absorb reactive power rapidly so as to increase the transient and voltage stability. In this paper, the SVC is applied to the power system in order to improve the total transfer capability from a viewpoint of static voltage stability and the effects of application of the SVC to the power system are analyzed. The IPLAN, which is a high level language used with PSS/E program, is employed for determining the total transfer capability.

  • This paper presents a power transfer capability calculation algorithm Considering Voltage Stability Margin. In this method, voltage stability margin constraints are incorporated into a power transfer capability formulation to guarantee adequate voltage security levels in interconnected Power System. The proposed method is applied to IEEE-24 Reliability Test Systems and the results shows the effectiveness of the method.
