  • PTB(Power Transfer Breaker) is a device which incorporate the functions of ACB(Air Circuit Breaker) and ATS(Automatic Transfer Switch). ACB is a circuit breaker against overload and ATS is a switching device to transfer the load between two electric power sources. An existing PTB design based upon the 5 bar & cam mechanism has been regarded to be too complex and thus a simpler 4 bar mechanism with trigger lock is proposed. Experimentation and optimization of the trigger lock is presented.

  • This paper presents a vibration analysis method of crank shaft of six cylinder internal combustion engine. For simple analysis journal, pin and arm parts were assumed to have uniform section. Transfer Matrix Method was used, considering branched part and coordinate transformation part. Natural frequencies, modeshapes and transfer functions of crank shaft were investigated based upon the Euler beam theory: It was shown that the calculated natural frequencies, modeshapes agree well with the existing paper results.

발포스펀지 의자시트의 진동전달 특성 (Vibration transfer characteristic of foaming sponge chair seat)

  • Recently, in the movie theater, the special chair is installed to maximize the viewing effect of movies. It is structured to convey a vibrational stimulus to a specially-designated parts of human body by attaching a vibration transducer to a existing theater chair. This paper describes the analysis of the vibration transfer characteristic of a foaming sponge seat for the design of the special chair. We could not apply the structural analysis S/W because it is difficult to obtain the mechanical properties and damping coefficients of the various type sponges. And then we computed the transfer functions by the global curve fitting program based on experimental modal analysis. The experimental response results comparatively coincide with those by the global curve fitting program. We also could obtain the natural frequencies, the modal damping coefficient ratio, the modal vectors and the whole transfer functions. Therefore we could analyze the dynamic characteristic for design of foaming sponge seat.

Alpha-Tocopherol Transfer Protein (${\alpha}$-TTP): Insights from Alpha-Tocopherol Transfer Protein Knockout Mice

  • Alpha-tocopherol transfer protein (${\alpha}$-TTP) is a liver cytosolic transport protein that faciliates ${\alpha}$-tocopherol (${\alpha}$-T) transfer into liver secreted plasma lipoproteins. Genetic defects in ${\alpha}$-TTP, like dietary vitamin E deficiency, are associated with infertility, muscular weakness and neurological disorders. Both human and ${\alpha}$-TTP deficient (${\alpha}-TTP^{-/-}$) mice exhibit severe plasma and tissue vitamin E deficiency that can be attenuated by sufficient dietary ${\alpha}$-T supplementations. In this review, we summarize the literature concerning studies utilizing the ${\alpha}-TTP^{-/-}$ mice. Levels of vitamin E in the ${\alpha}-TTP^{-/-}$ mice do not appear to be directly related to the amounts of dietary ${\alpha}$-T or to the levels of ${\alpha}$-TTP protein in tissues. The ${\alpha}-TTP^{-/-}$ mice appear to present a good model for investigating the specific role of ${\alpha}$-T in tissue vitamin E metabolism. Furthermore, ${\alpha}-TTP^{-/-}$ mice appear to be useful to elucidate functions of ${\alpha}$-TTP beyond its well recognized functions of transferring ${\alpha}$-T from liver to plasma lipoprotein fractions.

New Target Transfer Functions with No Overshoot

  • To design a controller based on the pole placement method, it is necessary to obtain either a target transfer function or a desired characteristic equation which results in the closed-loop response. Specially, a step response in which no overshoot occurs in highly desirable in many applications. In this paper, we present two new present two new prototypes of Type I target transfer functions whose step responses have an overshoot of less than 0.1%. One prototype is obtained by Taylor's approximation of a Gaussian function. It is, however, observed that the response delays increase with increasing order, while the rise times are nearly constant. The other prototype is a modification of the first prototype, so that their transfer function coefficients have particular values in terms of specific parameters ${\gamma}$i and $\tau$ (see section 2). The second prototype gives very useful properties in which step responses are almost the same shape, irrespective of the order. It, also, has no overshoot. Some other properties of the prototypes and an application example are given.

전달함수를 이용한 다공질 공기베어링 스테이지의 운동오차해석 (Motion Error Analysis of the Porous Air Bearing Stages Using the Transfer Function)

  • In order to analyze the motion errors of the aerostatic stage, it is necessary to consider the influence of the moment variation occurred inside the pads. In this paper, a motion error analysis method utilizing the transfer functions on the reaction force and moment is proposed, and general characteristics of the transfer functions are discussed. Calculated motion errors by the proposed method show good agreement with the ones calculated by Multi fad Method, which is considered the entire table as an analysis object. Also, by the introduction of the transfer function of motion errors, which represent the relationship between the spatial frequency components of the rail form error and motion errors, motional characteristics of the porous aerostatic stage can be generalized. In detail, the influence of the spatial frequencies is analyzed qualitatively, and the patterns of the insensitive frequencies which almost do not affect the linear motion error or angular motion error according to the rail length ratio and the number of the pad are verified. The relationship between the moment variation occurred inside the pads and the motion errors is also verified together.

  • This paper describes a direct transfer method of multimedia data stream between multimedia processor and network device without using system memory. The hardware architecture and functions for direct transfer, the method to transfer multimedia data to and from the multimedia processor and etc are described. Comparing the proposed method with general methods, I show that the direct transfer method can decrease number of bus accesses and bus cycles.

  • 볼륨 렌더링에서는 기본적으로 전이함수에 의해 객체를 구분하여 표시한다. 그러나, 경우에 따라서는 전이 함수만으로는 객체를 구분할 수 없는 경우가 있다. 이 때는 객체를 다른 방법으로 미리 분할한 후 분할 정보를 바탕으로 가시화를 수행한다. 본 논문은 분할된 볼륨의 가시화에서 객체당 투명도를 부여하는 방법을 제시한다. 반투명한 렌더링은 관찰의 대상이 되는 객체에 대한 맥락정보를 효과적으로 전달되기 위해 사용된다. 객체당 투명도는 전이함수의 조절에 의해 객체를 반투명하게 조절하기 어려운 경우에 매우 효과적인 가시화 도구로 사용될 수 있다. 객체당 투명도의 의미에 대한 몇가지 해석과, 그에 따른 알고리즘의 변화를 제시하였다. 또한, 제안된 방법을 일반 그래픽스 하드웨어를 사용하여 구현함으로써, 대화식 사용이 가능한 효율적 구현이 가능함을 보였다.

  • The Henyey-Greenstein (H-G) phase function, which is characterized by a single parameter, has been generally used to approximate the realistic dust-scattering phase function in investigating scattering properties of the interstellar dust. Draine (2003) proposed a new analytic phase function with two parameters and showed that the realistic phase function is better represented by his phase function. If the H-G and Draine's phase functions are significantly different, using the H-G phase function in radiative transfer models may lead to wrong conclusions about the dust-scattering properties. Here, we investigate whether the H-G and Draine's phase functions would indeed produce significant differences in radiative transfer calculations for two simple configurations. For the uniformly distributed dust with an illuminating star at the center, no significant difference is found. However, up to ~ 20% of difference is found when the central star is surrounded by a spherical-shell dust medium and the radiation of $\lambda$ < $2000\;{\AA}$ is considered. It would mean that the investigation of dust-scattering properties using the H-G phase function may produce errors of up to ~ 20% depending on the geometry of dust medium and the radiation wavelength. This amount of uncertainty would be, however, unavoidable since the configurations of dust density and radiation sources are only approximately available.

Modeling and Analysis of the Fractional Order Buck Converter in DCM Operation by using Fractional Calculus and the Circuit-Averaging Technique

  • By using fractional calculus and the circuit-averaging technique, the modeling and analysis of a Buck converter with fractional order inductor and fractional order capacitor in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) operations is investigated in this study. The equivalent averaged circuit model of the fractional order Buck converter in DCM operations is established. DC analysis is conducted by using the derived DC equivalent circuit model. The transfer functions from the input voltage to the output voltage, the duty cycle to the output voltage, the input impedance, and the output impedance of the fractional order Buck converter in DCM operations are derived from the corresponding AC-equivalent circuit model. Results show that the DC equilibrium point, voltage ratio, and all derived transfer functions of the fractional order Buck converter in DCM operations are affected by the inductor order and/or capacitor order. The fractional order inductor and fractional order capacitor are designed, and PSIM simulations are performed to confirm the correctness of the derivations and theoretical analysis.
