In the areas susceptible to vibration and noise induced by railway traffic such as downtown area and stations under railway lines, the vibration and the structure-borne noise can be solved by floating slab track system separating the entire track structure from its sub-structure using anti-vibration mat or springs. In other countries, the core technologies for vibration-proof design and vibration isolator - one of key components - have been developed and many installation experiences have been accumulated. However, in Korea, since the design technology of system and components are not yet developed, the foreign systems are being introduced without any adjustment. Thus, in this study, the vibration isolator has been developed and its performance are investigated by the dynamic analysis of a station structure under railways lines and the floating slab track system. For this purpose, the loads transferred from the vibration isolator of the floating slab track were evaluated by train running simulation considering vehicle-track interaction, and then the dynamic analysis of station structure subjected to these loads was performed. The dynamic analysis results show that the proposed floating slab track can reduce the vibration of structure by about 25dB compared with that in conventional ballast track without floating system.
Electric Power cable is the apparatus that receives electric power from the Korea Electric Power Corporation and supplies electric power to electric train and annex facilities of each railway station. With substantial ripple effect during power blackout accidents, such power blackout accidents must be coped with by discriminating the status of insulation deterioration of electric power cable in advance. Discrimination of insulation deterioration of the electric power cable is normally executed while the power is disconnected and it is very difficult to discover, at early stage, the insulation deterioration of the power cable in operational state since the duration of inspection is limited. This research aims to consider method of diagnosing the insulation deterioration of electric power cable in On-Line state rather than diagnosis in Off-Line state in order to secure reliability of power supply by reducing duration of power blackout (accidental blackout and blackout during works) and by seeking reduction in equipment and manpower used in diagnosis of deterioration through prevention of the accident itself prior to occurrence through early restoration of accident due to insulation deterioration of the electric power cable and assessment of performance of the cable under operation.
This paper describes the application of an inverse building model to a calibrated forward building model using EnergyPlus program. Typically, inverse models are trained using measured data. However, in this study, an inverse building model was trained using data generated by an EnergyPlus model for an actual office building. The EnergyPlus model was calibrated using field data for the building. A training data set for a month of July was generated from the EnergyPlus model to train the inverse model. Cooling load prediction of the trained inverse model was tested using another data set from the EnergyPlus model for a month of August. Predicted cooling loads showed good agreement with cooling loads from the EnergyPlus model with root-mean square errors of 4.11%. In addition, different control strategies with dynamic cooling setpoint variation were simulated using the inverse model. Peak cooling loads and daily cooling loads were compared for the dynamic simulation.
Air springs are prevalently used as suspension in train. However, air springs are seldom used in automobiles where they improve stability and comfort by enhancing the impact-relief, breaking, and cornering performance. Thus, this study proposed a new method to analyze air springs and obtained some reliable design parameter which can be utilized in vehicle suspension system in contrast to conventional method. Among air spring types of suspension, this study focused on sleeve type of air spring as an analysis model since it has potential for ameliorating the quality of automobiles, specifically in its stability and comfort improvement by decreasing the shock through rubber sleeve. As a methodology, this study used MARC, as a nonlinear finite element analysis program, in order to find out maximum stress and maximum strain depending on reinforcement cord's angle variation in sleeves. The properties were found through uniaxial tension and pure shear test, and they were developed using Ogden Foam which is an input program of MARC. As a result, the internal maximum stresses and deformation according to the changes of cord angle are obtained. Also, the results showed that the Young's modulus becomes smaller, then maximum stresses decrease. It is believed that these studies can be contributed in automobile suspension system.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the education retention effect of endotracheal and laryngeal tube intubation using a manikin study. Methods: The study consisted of measuring intubation time, intubation success rate, and confidence of intubation after education. The evaluation of the education was performed 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 24 weeks after education and skill tests. The study subjects were 48 paramedic students of third and fourth grade. Results: There was no significant difference in endotracheal intubation time but the time spent performing laryngeal tube intubation significantly increased over time (p<.000). The intubation success rate of endotracheal and laryngeal tube intubation was 100% in the $24^{th}$ week, and there was no significant difference in time spent performing the intubation. The students' confidence in endotracheal (p<.023) and laryngeal tube intubation (p<.001) decreased significantly from the second week to the $24^{th}$ week. Conclusion: This study revealed that it is necessary to spend at least 24 weeks to train students endotracheal and laryngeal intubation to improve the students' confidence in performance of intubation.
Most equipments which are used to measure the switching power of the turnout depend on imports. As the data is limited to the measurements of the switching power, it is said that the equipment is insufficient to check the errors of the turnout and the electrical point machine, and set up the data for operating and maintenance. We studied not only measurements of the switching power of all turnout being used in domestic but also the development of the turnout performance total analysis equipment which can measure switching time, voltage, and current etc. at the same time. Considering that switching power of the turnout is the most basic element to check the irregularities of the turnout, in this paper, we analyzed the irregularities of the turnout through correlation between switching power of the turnout, voltage, and current of the electrical point machine. Also we performed test in commercial railway line where the turnout of MJ81 type and NS type was installed. And it is said that the test results can be used as basic technologies for ICT based real-time diagnosis and monitoring of the turnout.
This study was carried out for the reliability of PD(Partial Discharge) pattern recognition. For the pattern recognition, the database for PD was established by use of self-designed insulation defects which occur and were mostly critical in GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear). The acquired database was analyzed to distinguish patterns by means of PRPD(Phase Resolved Partial Discharge) method and stored to the form with to unite the average amplitude of PD pulse and the number of PD pulse as the input data of neural network. In order to prove the performance of genetic algorithm combined with neural network, the neural networks with trial-and-error method and the neural network with genetic algorithm were trained by same training data and compared to the results of their pattern recognition rate. As a result, the recognition success rate of defects was 93.2% and the neural network train process by use of trial-and-error method was very time consuming. The recognition success rate of defects, on the other hand, was 100% by applying the genetic algorithm at neural network and it took a relatively short time to find the best solution of parameters for optimization. Especially, it could be possible that the scrupulous parameters were obtained by genetic algorithm.
Existing level crossing obstacle detecting system was installed using a laser beam. Level crossing obstacle detecting system using a laser beam that has been a problem in relation to safety and maintainability failure according to weather conditions. We proposed laser radar level crossing obstacle detecting system as a way to overcome problem, and we developed an algorithm for this. Level crossing obstacle detecting system using a laser radar sensor algorithm is robust to external environment and a shadow zone does not exist. Sensor part of the laser radar level crossing obstacle detecting system of these is made up by the image processing unit and laser radar sensor, it operations by receiving train entering information from the control unit. In this paper, we proposed a detecting algorithm with calculation of the size of the laser radar sensor. Based on this, we were performance test on the basis of the scenario by making a prototype. In the future, laser radar level crossing obstacle detecting system to ensure the safety and reliability through the field test.
The load-slip relationship of the shear connection is an important parameter in design and analysis of composite structures. In this paper, a load-slip curve prediction method of the shear connection based on the artificial neural networks (ANNs) is proposed. The factors which are significantly related to the structural and deformation performance of the connection are selected, and the shear stiffness of shear connections and the transverse coordinate slip value of the load-slip curve are taken as the input parameters of the network. Load values corresponding to the slip values are used as the output parameter. A twolayer hidden layer network with 15 nodes and 10 nodes is designed. The test data of two different forms of shear connections, the stud shear connection and the perforated shear connection with flange heads, are collected from the previous literatures, and the data of six specimens are selected as the two prediction data sets, while the data of other specimens are used to train the neural networks. Two trained networks are used to predict the load-slip curves of their corresponding prediction data sets, and the ratio method is used to study the proximity between the prediction loads and the test loads. Results show that the load-slip curves predicted by the networks agree well with the test curves.
A new neural network model has been developed to predict short-term air pollution concentration. In addition, a multiple regression model widely used in statistical analysis was tested. These models were applied for prediction of daily maximum ozone concentration in Seoul during the summer season of 1991. The time periods between May and September 1989 and 1990 were utilized to train set of learning patterns in neural network model, and to estimate multiple regression model. To evaluate the results of the different models, several Performance indices were used. The results indicated that the multiple regression model tended to underpredict the daily maximum ozone concentration with small r$^{2}$(0.38). Also, large errors were found in this model; 21.1 ppb for RMSE, 0.324 for NMSE, and -0.164 for MRE. On the other hand, the results obtained from the neural network model were very promising. Thus, we can know that this model has a prominent efficiency in the adaptive control for the non-linear multi- variable systems such as photochemical oxidants. Also, when the recent new information was added in the neural network model, prediction accuracy was increased. From the new model, the values of RMSE, NMSE and r$^{2}$ were 13.2ppb, 0.089, 0.003 and 0.55 respectively.
