  • ProfiBus provides real-time data communication among field devices in the EMU(Electrical Multiple Unit) and TCMS(Train Control Monitoring System). This paper presents an adapt to Train Communication Network for EMU using ProfiBus DP(Decentralized Periphery) method, which is the layer 2 DDLM (Direct Data Link Mapper) protocol of ProfiBus.

  • This paper introduces the design concepts and characteristics of WinDS3000$^{TM}$(TC IIa) which is a trade name of Doosan's 3MW offshore/onshore wind turbine. WinDS3000$^{TM}$(TC IIa) has been designed in consideration of high Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Serviceability (RAMS) and low cost of electricity (CDE) for the TC IIa condition based on GL guideline. An integrated drive-train design with an innovative three-stage gearbox has been introduced to minimize nacelle weight of the wind turbine and to enhance a high reliability for transmission. A permanent magnet generator with full converter system has been introduced to get higher efficiency in partial load operation and grid-friendly system for both 50 Hz and 60 Hz. A pitch-regulated variable speed control system has been introduced to control wind turbine power while generator reaction torque can be adjusted almost instantaneously by the associated power electronics. The wind turbine has been also equipped with condition monitoring and diagnostic systems in order to meet maintainability requirements.

Field monitoring of the train-induced hanger vibration in a high-speed railway steel arch bridge

  • Studies on dynamic characteristics of the hanger vibration using field monitoring data are important for the design and evaluation of high-speed railway truss arch bridges. This paper presents an analysis of the hanger's dynamic displacement responses based on field monitoring of Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge, which is a high-speed railway truss arch bridge with the longest span throughout the world. The three vibration parameters, i.e., dynamic displacement amplitude, dynamic load factor and vibration amplitude, are selected to investigate the hanger's vibration characteristics in each railway load case including the probability statistical characteristics and coupled vibration characteristics. The influences of carriageway and carriage number on the hanger's vibration characteristics are further investigated. The results indicate that: (1) All the eight railway load cases can be successfully identified according to the relationship of responses from strain sensors and accelerometers in the structural health monitoring system. (2) The hanger's three vibration parameters in each load case in the longitudinal and transverse directions have obvious probabilistic characteristics. However, they fall into different distribution functions. (3) There is good correlation between the hanger's longitudinal/transverse dynamic displacement and the main girder's transverse dynamic displacement in each load case, and their relationships are shown in the hysteresis curves. (4) Influences of the carriageway and carriage number on the hanger's three parameters are different in both longitudinal and transverse directions; while the influence on any of the three parameters presents an obvious statistical trend. The present paper lays a good foundation for the further analysis of train-induced hanger vibration and control.

  • In this paper, with the background features on which measuring the transverse left-right and up -down vibration of wheel, bogie and body by wireless measurement system, performance evaluation systems which can assess the running behavior of high speed trains based on UIC code 518-OR and evaluate the ride comfort of them based on ISO code 2631 and UIC code 513 were developed. The characteristics of dynamic vibration are generally analyzed by an acceleration of a car body of high speed train and the acceleration can be applied to evaluation of running safety. In this paper, also matching system of distance from tachometer and vibration from accelerometer was programmed in development software, and the SD card embedded system which prevent to loss of data in wireless measurement was mounted on this system. Finally the software perform to analysis with filtering and statistical post-process in the unit sections and zones and focus on developing the capability monitoring in the main control center. For the verification of this system, the running behavior and safety factor were analyzed based on field measured data of the Cheonjun-gunnum-sun turn out point in the new KTX railway.

  • This paper is intended to provide a method to design control software for the TCMS, train control and monitoring system. The TCMS with this control software will be applied KOREA Standard EMU. The control software is designed by SCADE Case tool to concern safety and reliability. The function for the EMU is implemented in software easily programmed, using a functional block, graphic programming language. The control software has modular design and each module is tested with SCADE simulator. This time we focus a Driving control module, including brake control module, and present a design method and a simulation method for that module.

  • This paper presents the information transmission between on-board and ground-site in MAGLEV. considering safety and high speed operation and density operation, information transmission between them is necessary. Therefore it is necessary for transmission system to ensure high speed transmission, low error rate, massive information, and reliability of information. To provide above conditions, 1.1km signal line assembly was constructed and Frequency Shift Keying(FSK) modulation and Open System Interconnection(OSI) based high-level data link control(HDLC) protocol are applied. To modulate digital signal for transmission from ground-site to on-board, carrier frequency of 70kHz is used and 90khz is used for transmission from on-board to ground-site. Transmission speed is 2400bps for consideration of train speed, quantity of information, and data error rate. And this paper introduces information monitoring considering user interface and presents the method for an effective data transmission in MAGLEV which is now being tested and intends to provide for an intelligent train operation system in future.

  • The electric point machine, which is used for the control of the turnout used to change the track of the train, is very important in the railway system. Various wired and wireless real-time monitoring systems are used to check the status of the point machine, but there is a possibility of malfunction due to sensor or network error. In this paper, a redundant monitoring system was designed that incorporates the point machine monitoring system and the CCTV camera control system to double check the operation of the point machine. In the point machine monitoring system, the operating state of the railway converter is monitored, alarmed and transmitted over the network. The CCTV camera control system, which received this information, was required to record the status of the turnout and the point machine in question and send it to the administrator. The manager of the railway line can check the conversion status of the railway through the monitoring screen for the railway line switcher first, and then confirm the switching status directly through the CCTV camera image, thereby improving the reliability of the point machine operation. It will also enable the safe and efficient operation of personnel for management. It is expected to contribute to preventing a derailment caused by a malfunction of the point machine.

  • To ensure the safety and functionality of a railroad bridge, maintaining the integrity of the bridge via continuous structural health monitoring is important. However, most structural integrity monitoring methods proposed to date are based on modal responses which require the extracting process and have limited availability. In this paper, the applicability of the existing damage identification method based on free-vibration reponses to time-domain deflection shapes due to moving train load is investigated. Since the proposed method directly utilizes the time-domain responses of the structure due to the moving vehicles, the extracting process for modal responses can be avoided, and the applicability of structural health evaluation can be enhanced. The feasibility of the presented method is verified via a numerical example of a simple plate girder bridge.
