  • In this paper, we propose a method of creating a 3D bounding box for an object using a vanishing point to increase the accuracy of object recognition in an image when recognizing an traffic object using a video camera. Recently, when vehicles captured by a traffic video camera is to be detected using artificial intelligence, this 3D bounding box generation algorithm is applied. The vertical vanishing point (VP1) and horizontal vanishing point (VP2) are derived by analyzing the camera installation angle and the direction of the image captured by the camera, and based on this, the moving object in the video subject to analysis is specified. If this algorithm is applied, it is easy to detect object information such as the location, type, and size of the detected object, and when applied to a moving type such as a car, it is tracked to determine the location, coordinates, movement speed, and direction of each object by tracking it. Able to know. As a result of application to actual roads, tracking improved by 10%, in particular, the recognition rate and tracking of shaded areas (extremely small vehicle parts hidden by large cars) improved by 100%, and traffic data analysis accuracy was improved.

  • A knowledge-based image retrieval technique is image searching methods using some features from the queried image. The materials in this study are automobile head lamps. The input data is composed of characters and images which have various pattern. The numbers, special symbols, and general letters are under the category of the character. The image informations are made up of the distribution of pixel data, statistical analysis, and state of pattern which are useful for the knowledge data. In this paper, we implemented a retrieval system for the scientific crime detection at traffic accident using the proposed multi knowledge-based image retrieval technique. The values for the multi knowledge-based image features were extracted from color and gray scale each. With this 22 features, we improved the retrieval efficiency about the color information and pattern information. Visual basic, crystal report and MS access DB were used for this application. We anticipate the efficient scientific detection for the traffic accident and the tracking of suspicious vehicle.

  • Recently, with the rapid development of image recognition technology, the demand for object analysis in road CCTV videos is increasing. In this paper, we propose a method that can adaptively find the counting line for traffic analysis in road CCTV videos. First, vehicles on the road are detected, and the corresponding positions of the detected vehicles are modeled as the two-dimensional pointwise Gaussian map. The paths of vehicles are estimated by accumulating pointwise Gaussian maps on successive video frames. Then, we apply clustering and linear regression to the accumulated Gaussian map to find the principal direction of the road, which is highly relevant to the counting line. Experimental results show that the proposed method for detecting the counting line is effective in various situations.

  • In this study, we investigated the application of deep learning to the manufacturing process of traffic and road signs which are constituting the road layer in map production with 1 / 1,000 digital topographic map. Automated classification of road traffic sign images was carried out through construction of training data for images acquired by using transfer learning which is used in image classification of deep learning. As a result of the analysis, the signs of attention, regulation, direction and assistance were irregular due to various factors such as the quality of the photographed images and sign shape, but in the case of the guide sign, the accuracy was higher than 97%. In the digital mapping, it is expected that the automatic image classification method using transfer learning will increase the utilization in data acquisition and classification of various layers including traffic safety signs.

  • A vehicle counting system at intersection is designed and implemented using analyzing a video stream from a camera. To separate foreground image from background, we compare three different methods, among which Li's method is chosen. Blobs are extracted from the foreground image using connected component analysis and the blobs are tracked by a blob tracker, frame by frame. The primary tracker use only the size and location of blob in foreground image. If there is a collision between blobs, the mean-shift tracking algorithm based on color distribution of blob is used. The proposed system is tested using real video data at intersection. If some huristics is applied, the system shows a good detection rate and a low error rate.

  • The concrete lining inspection by inspector after traffic control poses various problems such as congestion caused by traffic control and social loss costs resulting from it, and risks of traffic accidents and safety accidents for inspectors et al. To solve the problems, the concrete lining inspection has been carried out using automatic inspection equipment and image analysis that can be objectively and quantitatively investigated in overseas. In this study, to solve the problems of concrete lining inspection by inspector and to review improvement plan for inspection, inspection was carried out using automatic inspection equipment for ◯◯ tunnel that precision safety diagnosis has been conducted in 2019. Analysis was carried out for both inspection results. Automatic inspection equipment investigated defects in concrete lining such as cracks more accurately than precision safety diagnosis.

  • This paper presents a comprehensive investigation into the optimization of Flight Management Systems (FMS) with a particular emphasis on data processing efficiency by conducting a comparative study with conventional methods to edge-computing technology. The objective of this research is twofold. Firstly, it evaluates the performance of FMS navigation systems using conventional and edge computing methodologies. Secondly, it aims to extend the boundaries of knowledge in edge-computing technology by conducting a rigorous analysis of terrain data and its implications on flight path optimization along with communication with ground stations. The study employs a combination of simulation-based experimentation and algorithmic computations. Through strategic intervals along the flight path, critical parameters such as distance, altitude profiles, and flight path angles are dynamically assessed. Additionally, edge computing techniques enhance data processing speeds, ensuring adaptability to various scenarios. This paper challenges existing paradigms in flight management and opens avenues for further research in integrating edge computing within aviation technology. The findings presented herein carry significant implications for the aviation industry, ranging from improved operational efficiency to heightened safety measures.

  • With the expansion of the shipping and port logistics industry in the 21st century, the traffic density is continuously increased because of the increase in volumes of world sea freight and fleets, as well as the increase in the causes of potential marine accidents, such as ship collisions and stranding. Accordingly, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has requested that the installation and operation of VTS should be applied in areas with high risk of marine traffic, and the request should be included as one of the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations. In this paper, the fundamental requirements of the radar system for vessel traffic services were analyzed and the analyzing factors were based on the IALA guideline.s This paper also includes results for the requirement and recommendation analysis on detection distance, target separation, and the target position accuracy of X-band radar. Also, to check if it satisfies the requirement of detection distance, range and azimuth separation of small point targets, and target position accuracy from the IALA guidelines, the test was conducted through the radar image acquired at the VTS center, and hence, the validity of the technical performance requirements was confirmed.

  • Vehicular traffic on turf results in loss of green cover due to direct tearing of shoots and indirect long-term soil compaction. Protection of turfgrass crowns from wear could increase the ability of turf to recover from heavy traffic. Plastic turfpavers have been installed in trafficked areas to reduce soil compaction and to protect turfgrass crowns from wear. The objectives of this study were to evaluate traffic performance of turfgrasses (Zoysia matrella and Axonopus compressus) and soil mixture (high, medium and low sand mix) combinations on turf-paver complex. The traffic performance of turf and recovery was evaluated based on percent green cover determined by digital image analysis and spectral reflectance responses by NDVI-meter. Bulk density cores indicated significant increase in soil compaction from medium and low sand mixtures compared to high sand mixture. Higher reduction of percent green cover was observed from A. compressus (30-40%) than Z. matrella (10-20%) across soil mixtures. Both turf species displayed higher wear tolerance when established on higher sand (>50% sand) than low sand mixture. Positive turf recovery was also supported by complementary spectral responses. Establishment of Zoysia matrella turf on turfpaver complex using high sand mixture will result in improved wear tolerance.
