  • Purpose - Statistics of Traditional Market is the only source of information on traditional markets, shopping street, and underground shopping street. The government conducts a survey of traditional market conditions every year to look at the current status of traditional markets and provide effective support. Therefore, this study examines the necessity and validity of updating about the Survey Population of Traditional Market Research design, data, and methodology - This study investigated the necessity of updating about the Survey Population of Traditional Market through literature review. Therefore this study examined the necessity of the current population based on the review of the population related to the sample design, methods, and the sampling frame. Next, we examined the change patterns of the population and the sample by dividing the population and sample of the current survey of the traditional market survey into the market unit, the store unit within the market, and finally the individual store unit. Results - As a result, the population of traditional market changes about 4~6%. Next, the analysis of the store unit in the market shows that the number of stores is very variable even though the market is continuously included in the survey target. Finally, as a result of examining the characteristics of individual stores, the stores with less than one year were more than 6% of the total surveyed stores based on the traditional market. These results are generally inconsistent with the idea that stores in traditional markets will operate for a long time in one place. Next, we proposed the establishment of a management system, applying Citizen Generated Data, and circulation survey. Additionally, this study proposes to change the stratification variables at the regional level rather than the market unit. Conclusions - Therefore, in this study, it is suggested that a current population of traditional market is needed updating, and that a population survey should be updated at least four years. In addition, a system for investigating traditional markets and districts was established and a circulation survey was proposed for efficient use of budgets. Based on these research results and policy suggestions, the future research directions are suggested.

  • Changes in consumer purchasing patterns due to construction of large Western-style commercial buildings and introduction of new purchasing methods in South Korea in the 1990s led to a gradual decline in traditional markets. Under such a new environment, Yukgeori market, one of Korea's exemplary markets, has continued to develop and survive, while maintaining the traditional market form of Korea, both physically and operationally. Therefore, to find the characteristics of spatial configurations supporting the revitalization of traditional market, we deduced social attributes of spaces in street network of Cheongju city and the neighborhood including Yukgeori market by calculating the depths of nodes in the network using analysis models based on space syntax. The results illustrated that long street with the function to attract people and acts as a bridge of traffic and communication between highly modernized commercial area and traditional market can lead to continuous win-win development of both areas and the revitalization of traditional market through the promotion of social activities in the market. We expect that sound and sustainable development of contemporary cities, which lost tradition, will be achieved through the results of this study.

  • This study was undertaken to identify success factors of traditional market delivery apps and lead digital transformation of traditional markets. The success factors of traditional market delivery apps are represented by four variables: system characteristics of the app, delivery, products, and responsibility towards customer responses. These factors were analyzed to examine their impact on the operations performance. Data was collected by surveying 148 traditional market business owners. Results of the empirical analysis revealed that the app system characteristics, delivery characteristics, and product sales promotion, impart a significant effect on the operations performance. Conversely, the customer response characteristics showed no significant effects. This could be because some apps lack the function to check customer reviews and respond appropriately. Currently, where traditional market delivery apps are in the early stages of implementation and are gradually expanding, data obtained from this study helps to identify characteristics of traditional market delivery apps, and offers suggestions to create development indicators of the traditional market delivery apps by analyzing their effects on operational performance, thereby contributing to the revival of traditional markets through digital transformation.

  • Traditional market which is characterized by the folksy retailing market has lost its competitiveness rapidly due to the emergence of the Internet and the change of customer's purchasing behavior. The recession of the traditional market contracts the regional economy. We suggest a u-Market, a traditional market with ubiquitous computing capability, to revitalize traditional market. The suggested u-Market system applies ubiquitous computing technologies characterized by communications between customers and objects without limitations of time and location. The proposed u-Market system offers location information and specific contents of traditional market to customers. Furthermore, u-Market system recommends the store and product list that customers are likely to visit and purchase based on their contexts, so they can save their time and effort to search the products or contents.

Methods: Thirty and 20 at the end of career traditional market and Halal market ewes were slaughtered following the EC (European Council, 2009) animal welfare guidelines. Live weight of ewes was taken and dressing percentage of carcasses was calculated. On every carcass zoometric measurement and the evaluation trough the EU grid rules were performed. On the Musculus longissimus thoracis of 12 Traditional market carcasses and 11 Halal market carcasses the physical-chemical and nutritional analysis were performed. Consumer tests for liking meat ewe were performed in order to find consumer's preference level for Traditional and Halal markets ewe meat. Considering as fixed factor the ewe meat market (Traditional and Halal), results were submitted to oneway Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and to Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Results: The Halal market ewes have shown lower dressing percentages ($42.91{\pm}0.82$ vs $46.42{\pm}0.69$) and lower conformation score ($4.5{\pm}0.5$ vs $7.8{\pm}0.4$). The Halal market meat showed higher cooking loss in oven ($37.83{\pm}1.20$ vs $32.03{\pm}1.15%$), lesser Chroma value ($18.63{\pm}0.70$ vs $21.84{\pm}0.67$), and lesser Hue angle value ($0.26{\pm}0.02$ vs $0.34{\pm}0.02$). This product had also lower fat percentage ($4.2{\pm}0.4$ vs $7.09{\pm}0.4$). The traditional market meat had higher percentage in monounsatured fatty acids (MUFA) ($43.84{\pm}1.05$ vs $38.22{\pm}1.10$), while the Halal market meat had higher percentage in ${\omega}3$ poliunsatured fatty acids (PUFA) ($5.04{\pm}0.42$ vs $3.60{\pm}0.40$). The consumer test showed as the ewe meat was appreciate by the consumers. Conclusions: Both meat typologies have shown good nutritional characteristics. The traditional market meat had higher MUFA composition, and a better MUFA/satured fatty acids (SFA) ratio, while the Halal market meat had higher PUFA composition. These results were also supported by the PCA. The consumers preferred the traditional market meat.
