The Applications of On-line English Newspapers into Classroom Instruction

  • The purposes of this paper are to show that learning English via on-line English newspapers is very effective and to suggest several applications of an English newspaper on the web in English education to improve Korean speakers' English proficiency. Firstly, this paper overviews about Newspapers In Education (NIE). Secondly, a comparison between an on-line English newspaper and a traditional one is made, focusing on their advantages and characteristics. Thirdly, some ways to use various articles of a digital English newspaper in classroom instruction are explored. Lastly, the suggestions of this study are integrated into English learning instruction of an extracurricular English learning club of Business English Department. This club includes free utilization of an Internet surfing center, Internet Cafe, in a College Library. And then, a survey among the club members is conducted and its statistical results are analyzed.

영어교과서 개발의 최근 동향 (The Revision of the English Curriculum and Recent Trends on the Development of the English Textbook in Korea)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the recent trends of the development of the English textbooks in EFL situation. The 7th National English Curriculum(NEC) in 2001 which emphasized the curriculum-centered school education have had much influence on the traditional textbook-centered school education in Korea. According to the paradigmatic change of school education, the contents of the English textbooks were changed into the new types of students-centered classroom activities. For students' communicative activities, the English textbooks were developed by two types of syllabuses: process-oriented syllabus and product-oriented syllabus. The 7th NEC includes procedural syllabus and task-based syllabus as well as grammatical- structural syllabus and notional-functional syllabus. In short, unlike the English textbooks in former curriculums, learners' classroom activities and tasks have been emphasized in those to foster their communicative competence.

초등학교 6학년 수학수업에서의 수업인터넷 기반 협력학습 수업방법 탐색 (A Study of Instruction of Internet(IoI)-based Collaborative Learning Method in Elementary School Sixth Grade Mathematics Class)

  • 본 연구는 초등학교 6학년 수학수업에서 수업인터넷을 기반으로 한 협력학습의 다양한 수업사례를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 수업인터넷 기반을 위한 수업환경의 설계 방법을 안내하고 다양한 수업방법에 대한 사례를 제시하였다. 본 연구는 D 광역시의 초등학교 6학년 한 개 반을 대상으로 2016년 3월부터 11월까지 약 9개월간 수업인터넷 기반으로 한 협력학습을 실시하여 대표적인 수업사례 유형을 정리하였다. 그 유형으로는 수업인터넷을 기반으로 한 교실 내 협력학습, 교실-교실 간 원격협력학습, 실시간 참여수업, 프로젝트 협력학습, 가상현실을 이용한 협력학습 등으로 구분할 수 있었으며, 다른 지역의 학생들과 동시간대에 협력학습을 실시할 수 있거나 Youtube를 이용한 학부모 및 교사 참관수업이 가능하다는 점이 기존의 협력학습과 차이가 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 수업사례는 교실 안에서 이루어지는 전통적인 수학수업을 벗어날 수 있는 사례로 제시할 수 있다는 점에서 미래교실에서의 스마트 기기와 인터넷을 활용한 수업방법에 대한 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 진통 인지심리학과 달리 상황인지이론은 학습의 구성주의 본성을 강하게 반영하는 교육학 이론으로 이해된다. 학교에서 상황학습을 하기 위해서는 교실상황은 교수와 학습이 진정으로 일어나는 장소로 매우 중요하다. 인간의 정신활동인 학습은 그것이 일어나는 상황과 맥락에 의존하면서 학습 결과보다는 과정에, 그리고 실제 상황에서의 학습의 경험을 강조하고 있다. 수학교육에서는 주어진 정형화된 수학문제를 해결하는 것을 넘어서는 능력을 요구하고 있다. 본 논문의 목적은, 수학함이 잘 일어나도록 하기 위해 상황인지이론과 그에 토대한 상황학습이 수학 교실수업에 어떤 시사점을 주고, 어떤 방향으로 나아가야 하는지를 밝히고자 한다. 이를 위하여 상황인지와 상황학습을 간단하게 설명하고, 수학자들이 행하는 수학과 교실에서의 수학을 비교하여 보고, 상황인지론의 3가지 관점에 따른 수학교육과 관련성을 검토하고, 수학교육에서의 적용할 방안을 검토, 제시하고자 한다.

간호학생의 문제중심학습에 관한 인식유형 : Q-방법론 적용 (The Perception of Student Nurse For Problem Based Learning)

  • PBL can be defined as an active, self-directed and student-centered learning, and an opposite way of classroom teacher-centered learning which has been traditional role learning. PBL enables students think more efficiently and effectively when puzzling through the patient problems. The purpose of this study is to find out the perception of student nurse about PBL, the characteristics and the structure of the type for PBL. The research process is as follow : First, the researcher selected 35 statements for PBL with the content analysis of in depth interview and the literature review. Second, the researcher asks 38 student nurse to classify the statement cards. The result of the research is that the type of student nurse's PBL perception is divided into 4 types(Affirmative type, Negative type, Suspicious type, and Preferable type), and the explanative total variance is 44 percent. In relation to this, if PBL well combined and adapted in our traditional curriculum will change our nursing education in better direction.

  • 본 연구는 전통적인 지필평가의 단점을 보완하기 위한 대안평가의 방법 중 하나인 면접평가의 현장 적용에 대한 실천적 방안을 제시하기 위하여 실행된 연구이다. 면접평가에 대한 다양한 이론들을 분석하고, 이를 토대로 수학학습 평가에서 면접평가 현장 적용을 위한 평가도구로서 면접평가 점검목록표 및 채점기준표를 개발하였다. 개발한 면접평가 점검목록표 및 채점기준표를 평가 목적에 따라 학생특성 면접평가와 사고과정 면접평가로 나누어 학교현장에 적용하고 결과를 분석함으로써 현장 적용의 실제적 활용가능성을 모색하고 논의사항을 제시하였다.

원격로봇학습과 원격화상학습에 대한 아동 반응 비교 (Is a Robot better than Video for Initiating Remote Social Connections among Children?)

  • Videoconferencing technology is increasingly used in classrooms to introduce children to people from other countries and cultures in order to provide a wider learning experience. However, with traditional screen-based video conferencing technology, research has shown that it is easy for students to miss non-verbal cues that play a key role in developing human relationships. To investigate how children interact differently when their interactions are mediated through screen-based video communication versus robot-mediated communication, we conducted a study with elementary students in Korea, comparing the use of both technologies to introduce classroom students with peer-aged individuals in America. Our findings show that the children displayed more positive emotions during certain tasks and exhibited more interest and intimacy to remote participants in the context of robot-mediated communication than with video-mediated communication.

로봇은 살아 있을까? : 우리 반 교사보조로봇에 대한 유아의 인식 (Is Robot Alive? : Young Children's Perception of a Teacher Assistant Robot in a Classroom)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate young children's perceptions of a teacher assistant robot, IrobiQ. in a kindergarten classroom. The subjects of this study were 23 6-year-olds attending to G kindergarten located in E city, Korea, where the teacher assistant robot had been in operation since Oct. 2008. Each child responded to questions assessing the child's perceptions of IrobiQ's identity regarding four domains : it's biological, intellectual, emotional and social identity. Some questions asked the child to affirm or deny some characteristics pertaining to the robot and the other questions asked the reasons for the answer given. The results indicated that while majority of children considered an IrobiQ not as a biological entity, but as a machine, they thought it could have an emotion and be their playmate. The implications of these results are two folds : firstly, they force us to reconsider the traditional ontological categories regarding intelligent service robots to understand human-robot interaction and secondly, they open up an ecological perspective on the design of teacher assistant robots for use with young children in early childhood education settings.

Constructivistic Learning Method with Simulation to Increase Classroom Engagement

  • It is reported that the constructivistic learning method (CLM) enhances the understanding of the students in the learning process, especially in engineering classes. In CLM-based classes, the students can take the initiative in the learning process, which is called the student-centered model of the learning process. This is different from the traditional learning method based on the teacher-centered model, where a teacher plays the central role in the learning process of students. The authors have applied the method of CLM to one of the Engineering classes, namely production planning and inventory control (PPIC) class for undergraduate students. The PPIC class provides multimedia-based study materials and factory visits as well as regular lecture sections to cover the whole subject of inventory control theory and practice. In the review sessions, students are divided into several groups, and question-and-answer discussions were actively carried out among these groups under the support of the teacher as a facilitator. It was observed that the student engagement in the class was very active compared to the conventional lecture-based classes. As for further support of students understanding on the subject, simulation-based materials are also under study for the class. This paper presents the review of case study of CLM-based PPIC class and discusses the feasibility of simulation-based study materials for further improvement of the class.

면대면 강의실 환경에서 전자교과서를 이용한 기초 통계학 수업 (Introductory statistics class using e-textbook in face-to-face classroom environment)

  • 최근에는 기술의 도움 없이 통계를 가르친다는 것은 상상조차 하기 어렵다. 기술의 발전은 기초 통계학을 가르치는 방식과 교과서의 형태를 바꾸고 있다. 거의 모든 학생들이 항상 모바일 기기를 가지고 다니기 때문에 통계학 교과서를 디지털 형태로 제공한다면 학습자는 언제 어디서든 배울 수 있을 것이다. 또한 스마트폰은 학생들이 강의에 더 집중할 수 있도록 수업시간에 질의응답에 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문은 면대면 강의실에서 전자교과서를 이용할 때 발생하는 데이터를 분석하고 향후 전자교과서의 연구 방향을 제안한다.
