Simplified PV Cell and MPPT Modeling based on PSCAD/EMTDC (PSCAD/EMTDC를 이용한 PV Cell 및 MPPT 모델링에 관한 연구)

  • The power generated by a Photovoltaic(PV) cell depends on the operating voltage of the array, its voltage-current and voltage-power characteristic curves specify a unique operating point at which maximum possible power is delivered and the array is operated at its highest efficiency. PSCAD/EMTDC, which is a simulation tool for the transient analysis of an electric power system, was used to simulate the PV Cell system. So, in this paper, the PV cell components of the PSCAD/EMTDC were developed, and the Maximum Power Point Tracking(MPPT) modeling was used for the developed PV power system to find the maximum power.

  • In order to verify the validity of the exhibition moethod in a science museum, this study undertakes a visitor follow-up survey, and clarifies the influence an exhibition method affect visitor's behavior, and its feature. The tracking research performed the visitor follow-up survey to family company children. The characteristic of the visitor's behavior by the exhibition method; Use frequency becomes low in order of 'Experience type' 'Participation type' 'Fixed type'. Experience type has tendencies, such as repetitive and continuing use, and use time was long. Otherwise use time of Fixed type was short. As a result, although the use frequency of Hands-on is high and its use time is longer than Hands-off, it turns out that is influenced according to factors, such as the exhibition method, presentation and the contents of exhibition.

  • Grid-connected photovoltaic generator system requires high performance PCS(Power Conditioning System) according to the standard of 'Distributed Generation Grid-Connected Technology Standards'. This paper presents the MPPT control method which improves output efficiency through fast tracking to the maximum power point of PV and a reduced self-excited vibration. Secondly, in this paper DVR function was applied to PCS to compensate the voltage sag frequently happening for a power system. The proposed PCS control is analyzed and compared to conventional PCS operating characteristic, the various insolation and loads, and voltage sag condition through PSIM tool. It proves the utility.

  • This paper deals with the operation of a flywheel energy storage UPS. The ups has good features such as long life-time, improved efficiency, no environment problems, reduced size and space, and low maintenance cost compared with the conventional UPS using battery. The operating principle of the UPS is analysed in each mode including charging, voltage compensation, discharging, and voltage unbalance compensation. Especially, the tracking characteristic of the disturbed phase of the source voltage after outage is analysed. The usefulness of the operation is proved through simulations.

  • In this paper, we proposed a novel control method which uses the internal impedance angles as a control parameter to drive traveling wave type ultrasonic motor. An impedance characteristic of the ultrasonic motor is obtained by analysis of the equivalent circuits including the external inductor used to generate the coupled resonance. The phase angle of internal impedance to achieve optimal control performance is derived. For the tracking of impedance angle, an information of phase difference is obtained from the applied voltage and current. The high speed phase difference detector is designed to monitor the phases of ultrasonic motor. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is clarified by experiments.

  • A new control algorithm using the VSS theory is developed for accurate trajectory control of robot manipulators. This paper focuses on the implementation of VSS controller with smoothing laws in the design of effective tracking control for robotic arms. The VSS controller for multi-linkage robot arm is realized using balance condition and its simplification which possesses powerful smoothing capability to reduce or even remove undesirable chattering and meanwhile keep the robust characteristic to reject system uncertainties. The design principle of selecting different smoothing methods, which aims at achieving trade-off between smoothing and robust behaviors while considering the actual system constraints, is also given and further confirmed through experimental results.

  • General microstrip patch antenna has small bandwidth. If corner of a patch antenna is properly cutted to be triangular shape, then input impedance of patch antenna should be varied. Using this characteristic wideband patch antenna can be implemented. In this paper, wideband microstrip patch antenna operating in 2.4GHz ISM band is investigated through tracking variation of input impedance corresponding to cutting shape of patch antenna.

  • Bilateral teleoperation systems, connected to computer networks such as Internet have to deal with the time delay varying depending on factors such as congestion, bandwidth or distance. And the entire system is easy to become unstable due to irregular time delay. Passivity concept has been using as a framework to solve the stability problem in bilateral control of teleoperation. Acontrol scheme for teleoperation systems with varying time delay is proposed based on a passivity concept is proposed in this paper. One approach makinguse of the characteristic impedances is proposed to achieve a passive control. Since passive control does not mean that the system performance will be acceptable, another transmission scheme which focuses on both the passive feature and the acceptable performance is configured for varying time delay in this paper. The tracking performance has been proved through the computer simulation for varying time delay bilateral teleoperation system using Matlab Simulink.

  • Uncertain time delay happens when the process reads the sensor data and sends the control input to the plant located at a remote site in distributed control system. As in the case of data network using TCP/IP, VDN that integrates both device network and data network has uncertain tim e delay. Uncertain time delay can cause degradation in stability of distributed control system based on VDN. This paper investigates the transmission characteristic of VDN and suggests a control scheme based on the Smith's predictor to minimize the effect of uncertain time delay. The validity of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated with tracking position control of experiments.

  • The MPC (Model Predictive Control) is one of the techniques that can be used to control an unmanned vehicle. It predicts the future vehicle trajectory using the dynamic characteristic of the vehicle and generate the control value to track the reference path. If some obstacles are detected on the reference paths, the MPC can generate control value to avoid the obstacles imposing the inequality constraints on the MPC cost function. In this paper, we propose an obstacle modeling algorithm for MPC with inequality constraints for obstacle avoidance and a method to set selective constraint on the MPC for stable obstacle avoidance. Simulations with the field test data show successful obstacle avoidance and way point tracking performance.
