  • Change detection using difference picture has been used to detect the location of moving targets and to track them. This method needs the assumption of static camera, and the global motion compensation is required in case of a moving camera. This paper suggests a method for finding a minimum bounding rectangles(MBR) of moving targets in the image sequences using moving region detection, especially with a moving camera. If the global motion parameter is inaccurately estimated, the estimated locations of targets will be accurate either To alleviate this problem, we introduce the concept of the confidence measure and achieve more accurate estimation of global motion. Experimental results show that the proposed method successfully removes background region and extracts MBRs of the targets. Even with a moving camera, the new global motion estimation algorithm performs more precise]y and it reduces the background compensation errors of change detection.

  • Eye-typing is one kind of human-computer interactive input system which is implemented by location data of gaze. It is widely used as an input system for paralytics because it does not require physical motions other than the eye movement. However, eye-typing interface based on Korean character has not been suggested yet. Thus, this research aims to implement the eye-typing interface optimized for Korean. To begin with, design objectives were established based on the features of eye-typing: significant noise and Midas touch problem. Multilevel input system was introduced to deal with noise, and an area free from input button was applied to solve Midas touch problem. Then, two types of eye-typing interfaces were suggested on phonological consideration of Korean where each syllable is generated from combination of several phonemes. Named as consonant-vowel integrated interface and separated interface, the two interfaces are designed to input Korean in phases through grouped phonemes. Finally, evaluation procedures composed of comparative experiments against the conventional Double-Korean keyboard interface, and analysis on flow of gaze were conducted. As a result, newly designed interfaces showed potential to be applied as practical tools for eye-typing.

  • An algorithm for tracking the trace of structured light is proposed to obtain depth information accurately. The technique is based on the fact that the pixel location of light in an image has a unique association with the object depth. However, sometimes the projected light is dim or invisible due to the absorption and reflection on the surface of the object. A dynamic programming approach is proposed to solve such a problem. In this paper, necessary mathematics for implementing the algorithm is presented and the projected laser light is tracked utilizing a dynamic programming technique. Advantage is that the trace remains integrity while many parts of the laser beam are dim or invisible. Experimental results as well as the 3-D restoration are reported.

Abstract Wireless mobile communications is developed from the only single voice traffic sevice to multimedia sevices. And mobile communications will evolve IMT-2000, which is provide users with high quality multimedia services. A radius of cell is gradually reduced to accept many service users and transport the multimedia traffics. Therefore, a overhead of location tracking and handover processing are increased. Then to guarantee high QoS to service users in wireless mobile communications, efficient handover algorithm is very important issue. In this study, we propose a H-PS(Hybrid-Priority Scheme) handover scheme considering mobility and traffic characteristics in IMT-2000 networks. And performance evaluate using simulation.

  • This paper presents a multiple face detector based on a robust pupil detection technique. The pupil detector uses active illumination that exploits the retro-reflectivity property of eyes to facilitate detection. The detection range of this method is appropriate for interactive desktop and kiosk applications. Once the location of the pupil candidates are computed, the candidates are filtered and grouped into pairs that correspond to faces using heuristic rules. To demonstrate the robustness of the face detection technique, a dual mode face tracker was developed, which is initialized with the most salient detected face. Recursive estimators are used to guarantee the stability of the process and combine the measurements from the multi-face detector and a feature correlation tracker. The estimated position of the face is used to control a pan-tilt servo mechanism in real-time, that moves the camera to keep the tracked face always centered in the image.

  • In this study, numerical analyses for slamming impact phenomena have been carried out using a 2-dimensional wedge shaped structure having finite deadrise angles. Fluid is assumed incompressible and entry speed of the structure is kept constant. Geo-reconstruct(or PLIC-VOF) scheme is used for the tracking of the deforming free surface. Numerical analyses are carried out for the deadrise angles of $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}$. For each deadrise angle, variations are made for the grid size on the wedge bottom and for the entry speed. The magnitude and the location of impact pressure and the total drag force, which is the summation of pressure distributed at the bottom of the structure, are analyzed. Results of the analyses are compared with the results of the Dobrovol'skaya similarity solutions, the asymptotic solution based on the Wagner method and the solution of Boundary Element Method(BEM).

  • The trajectory of a tag in RFID system is represented as a interval that connects two spatiotemporal locations captured when the tag enters and leaves the vicinity of a reader. Whole trajectories of a tag are represented as a set of unconnected interval because the location of the tag which left the vicinity of a reader is unknown until it enters the vicinity of another reader. The problems are that trajectories of a tag are not connected. It takes a long time to find trajectories of a tag because it leads to searching the whole index. To solve this problem, we propose a technique that links two intervals of the tag and an index scheme called SLR-tree. We also propose a sharing technique of link information between two intervals which enhances space utilization of nodes, and propose a split policy that preserves shared-link information. And finally, we evaluate the performance of the proposed index and prove that the index processes history queries efficiently.

  • In this study, travel time data collection of mine equipments was conducted in an underground mine using a reverse Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) system. In the reverse RFID system, RFID readers and antennas are mounted on mine equipments, and RFID tags are attached to the underground mine gallery. Indoor experiments were performed to analyze how RFID reader transmission power levels affect tag readable area and tag recognition rates. The results showed that travel time measurement become precise when the reader transmission power was reduced, however tag recognition rates were reduced. The field experiments indicated that setting the reader transmission power to 28 dBm maintained the tag recognition rate while minimizing the tracking location error. In addition, the results revealed that the reverse RFID system can be used successfully in an underground mine to collect the travel time data of haulage trucks.
