The phased array antenna has the ability to perform adaptive sampling by directing the radar beam without inertia in any direction. The adaptive sampling capability of the phased array antenna allows each sampling time interval to be varied for each target, depending on the acceleration of each target at any time. In this paper we design a three-dimensional adaptive tracking algorithm for the phased array radar system with a given set of measurement parameters. The tracking algorithm avoids taking unnecessarily frequent samples, while keeping the angular prediction error within a fraction of antenna beamwidth so that the probability of detection will not be degraded during a track update illuminations. In our algorithm, the target model and the sampling rate are selected depending on the target range and the target maneuver status which is determined by a maneuver detector. A detailed simulation is conducted to test the validity of our tracking algorithm for encounter geometries under various conditions of maneuver.
In this paper, we have implemented a low-cost mobile robot supporting the person tracking by detection using RGB-D cameras and ROS(Robot Operating System) framework. The mobile robot was developed based on the Kobuki mobile base equipped with 2's Kinect devices and a high performance controller. One kinect device was used to detect and track the single person among people in the constrained working area by combining point cloud data filtering & clustering, HOG classifier and Kalman Filter-based estimation successively, and the other to perform the SLAM-based navigation supported in ROS framework. In performance evaluation, the person tracking by detection was proved to be robustly executed in real-time, and the navigation function showed the accuracy with the mean distance error being lower than 50mm. The mobile robot implemented has a significance in using the open-source based, general-purpose and low-cost approach.
An investigation of the TMR(Track Misregistration) requirements to achieve the capacity of 80GBytes/Platter in 7200rpm disk drive system is reported. This paper also gives an overview of the PES(Position Error Signal) characteristics in the 57,500TPI disk drive to estimate the required 95,000TPI-system PES. The TMR measured by PES are presented and decomposed in order to identify the portions and their contributions of the spindle-disk system vibration and HSA(Head-Stack-Assembly) system vibration respectively. A comprehensive review on the servo system is also presented to provide the practical limits of the modem servo architecture into TMR budget design. The decomposed PES energy distribution shows that the spindle-disk pack vibration is one of the top-ranking sources of the total TMR budget and its percentage contribution is about 50% considering all the other TMR sources.
This paper presents a beat gesture recognition method to synchronize the tempo of a robot playing a piano with the desired tempo of the user. To detect an unstructured beat gesture expressed by any part of a body, we apply an optical flow method, and obtain the trajectories of the center of gravity and normalized central moments of moving objects in images. The period of a beat gesture is estimated from the results of the fast Fourier transform. In addition, we also apply a motion control method by which robotic fingers are trained to follow a set of trajectories, Since the ability to track the trajectories influences the sound a piano generates, we adopt an iterative learning control method to reduce the tracking error.
A Monte Carlo computer simulation study was conducted to determine the most efficient sampling design for the blue crab dredge capture efficiency experiment performed in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, U. S. A. The input values were the number of dredge tracks in each experimental area, the number of tows per experiment, the number of experiments, the mean density of crabs per unit area, the negative binomial coefficient, the gear capture efficiency, and the tow error. As a result of the study, a four-track experiment with twenty to twenty-eight tows was estimated to be the best in terms of precision and accuracy of the gear capture efficiency.

A realization for moving object detecting and tracking system in two dimensional plane using stereo line CCDs and lighting source is presented in this paper. Instead of processing camera images directly, two line CCD sensor and input line image is used to measure two dimensional distance by comparing the brightness on line CCDs. The algorithms are used the moving object tracking and coordinate converting method. To ensure the effective detection of moving path, a detection algorithm to evaluate the reliability of each measured distance is developed. The realized system results are that the performance of moving object recognizing shows 5mm resolution and mean error is 1.89%, and enables to track a moving path of object per 100ms period.
The objective of this paper is to compare the site-to-site variability of ISO 10844 pass-by-noise test sites. In order to investigate the site-to-site variance of test surfaces, European commercial tires are tested at seven different test sites. Three Korea test sites and four Europe test sites are selected.. The pass by noise test is executed according to a 2001/43/EC regulation. A]though the ISO surface has a very specific track composition, it does not reduce the variation of pass-by-noise measurements over the surface of test sites. This paper shows that the test results of pass-by-noise level are different depending on the test sites. The correlation obtained in this work is able to predict the pass by noise level for certain test site using the data measured from another test site. 17he prediction value is range with an error within 1dB(A).
A new multi-beam optical system is presented on the grounds of tri-positioning systems in this paper. The system has been developed to improve the data transfer rate for the optical disk system. The actuating system is composed of a tracking and focusing actuating system basically and a newly developed beam rotating actuator. The beam rotating actuator is employed in a multi-beam optical system to trace more than one track simultaneously. The multi-beam optics is established through the optical simulation and several experimental trials. The differential phase tracking method is used in the tracking error signal detection based on the only one beam spot. We also analyze the characteristics of multi-beam optical system. The experimental result shows that the multi-beam positioning system has performance adequate to the multi-beam optical disk system.

In this paper, we propose a new servo system design strategy to reduce the position error signal(PES) and track mis-registration(TMR) in magnetic disk drive systems. The proposed method provides a systematic design procedure based on the plant model and an optimal solution via an optimization with a 'Robust Random Neighborhood Search(RRNS)' algorithm. In addition, it guarantees the minimum PES level as well as stability to parametric uncertainties. Furthermore, the proposed method can be used to estimate the performance at the design stage and thus can reduce the cost and time for the design of the next generation product. The reduction of PES as well as robust stability is demonstrated by simulation and experiments.
A vehicle longitudinal control strategy with guaranteed string stability for vehicle stop-and-go(SG) cruise control is presented in this paper. The SG cruise control systems should be designed such that string stability can be guaranteed in addition to that every vehicle in a string of SG cruise control vehicles must track any bounded acceleration and velocity profile of its preceding vehicle with a bounded spacing and velocity error. An optimal vehicle following control law based on the information of the 1311owing distance (clearance) and its velocity relative to the vehicle ahead (relative velocity) has been used and string stability analysis has been done based on the control law and constant time gap spacing policy, A validated multi-vehicle simulation package has been shown that the string stability analysis using the approximate model of the vehicle servo-loop which includes vehicle powertrain and brake control system dynamics is valid in the design of the SG cruise control law with guaranteed string stability.
