A Study on the Influence of Tourism Experience Factors on the Memory, Satisfaction and Loyalty of Tourist Attractions (관광체험요소가 관광지의 기억, 만족 충성도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The tourism experience factor is an essential source of competitive advantage in the tourism industry and is an important factor for predicting future tourism behavior. Tourism experience elements can be composed of areas of education, entertainment, aesthetics and deviance (Pine and Gilmore, 1998). This study examines the effect of tourist experience factors on tourist loyalty and it is meaningful to see if the experiential economic theory of Pine and Gilmore (1999) is applicable. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey on tourists using experiential tourism factors. As a result, it was found that recreational experiential factors had a significant effect on memory. Memory has a significant effect on both visitor satisfaction and tourist loyalty. This study has academic significance because it focuses on the tourism experience factor which is the core of experiential economic theory. Practical significance is that a lot of experiential contents should be found in order to better match the tourist experience factor to the requirements of visitors to the tourist site. As a result, it is expected to generate revenue and improve its competitiveness.

A Study on Determinants of the Ecotourist's Satisfaction with Geumgang Birdwatching Destination (금강 철새도래지 생태관광객의 만족에 영향을 미치는 결정요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this research is to suggest appropriate directions for the desirable ecotourist attraction management through the investigation of the tourist's satisfaction with ecotourism in case of Geumgang birdwatching destination. This research focus on the identification of the determinants of the ecotourist's satisfaction and the estimated regression model. The results of this study for the tourist's satisfaction with the ecotourism are summarized as follows. First, as a result of the factor analysis of the tourist's satisfaction variables, five factors like 'knowledge information', 'experience', 'ecological value', 'guide service', 'facilities environment' are deduced. Second, as a result of the test of significance, the difference of the satisfaction with ecotourism in aspect of the tourist's demographic characteristics like age and academic background is confirmed to be statistically significant except sex. Third, the tourist's satisfaction with ecotourism appears to be positively correlative with the tourist's overall satisfaction.

Exploring the Movements of Chinese Free Independent Travelers in the U.S.: A Social Network Analysis Approach

  • In a new age of smart tourism, free independent travelers (FITs) choose their travel routes in a more diversified and less predictable way with the aid of smart services. This paper focuses on the movements of Chinese outbound FITs in the U.S. in the year of 2018. 110 places to visit (destinations) extracted from 122 travel routes recommendations on Qyer.com, a major online travel community in China, are analyzed with social network analysis (SNA). Based on the results of SNA, employing degree centrality, eigenvector centrality, betweenness centrality, network visualization, and cluster diagram methods, some preferred cities and natural attractions outside city centers (i.e., New York City (NYC), Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and Niagara Falls) are identified. Moreover, it is found that NYC in the East and Los Angeles in the West play a major role in the movements of Chinese FITs. This study contributes to the body of knowledge on tourist destination movements and provides valuable implications for smart service development in the tourism and hospitality industry.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between service quality, service value, customer satisfaction and destination association. Based on previous studies, hypotheses and research models were derived and surveyed. The analysis was conducted using 406 valid questionnaires. The study results are as follows. The physical environment and the food quality of the tourist restaurant service quality affected service value. Employee service and food quality affected satisfaction. Service value affected satisfaction. The value of service affected the association of sightseeing destination. Nevertheless satisfaction did not affect the association of sightseeing spots. Based on these study results, the following implications are suggested. Restaurant management should prioritize food quality control. Local governments need support the improvement of the physical environment. A local menu that is reminiscent of tourist attractions should be developed.

The Effect of the Place Marketing Image in the Insadong Cultural District as a Tourism Destination on the Foreign Tourists' Satisfaction and Intention to Revisit (관광목적지로서 인사동 문화지구의 장소마케팅 이미지가 외래관광객의 만족도 및 재방문 의도에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • This research examines the effect of the place marketing image in the Insadong Cultural District as a tourism destination on the foreign tourists' satisfaction and intention to revisit. The result of the factor analysis revealed thirty attributes of the place that are important to tourist and that could be clustered into four major factors: 'identity', 'attractive things and quality of life', 'cultural sights and economy', and 'city improvements'. 'Attractive things and quality of life', 'cultural sights and economy' and 'city improvements' are the three factors that are significant in the relationship between the place marketing image and type of visit. On the relationship between place marketing image and tourist nationality the only significant factor was 'attractive things and quality of life'. In the relationship between place marketing image and satisfaction, the significant factors were: 'identity', 'cultural sights and economy', and 'city improvements', while the relationship between place marketing image and intention to revisit have 'attractive things and quality of life', 'cultural sights and economy', and 'city improvements' as significant factors.

  • Competitiveness has been associated in the tourism literature as a crucial factor for the success of tourist destinations. This study is to develop indicators that measure destination competitiveness of rural tourism townships in Korea. It was conducted via a Delphi technique and the analytical hierarchy process method. After four rounds of discussions, the panel members reached consensus on a set of 27 indicators with three dimensions which are attractor (resource, infrastructure, and tourism products), assistance (tourism business assistance and value-added processing assistance), and planning and management (planning for development, capacity for management). This set of destination competitiveness indicators can serve as a starting point for devising a set of indicators at the local level in order to be useful rural tourism sector manager and administrators. The selected indicators are measurable, demand driven and practical to show the real performance in rural destination.

A Study on Tourist Satisfaction of Rural Tourism Products in Southern Jiangsu Area of China

  • Purpose: Rural tourism, as a green and sustainable new development method, has become a new economic growth point in China's rural revitalization. The current research on rural tourism has not formed a complete and mature theoretical system, especially the study of tourist satisfaction. This paper is based on the perspective of tourist satisfaction and takes rural tourism in southern Jiangsu, China as the research object. Starting from the current situation of rural tourism development in southern Jiangsu, it elaborates on the current situation of rural tourism development in southern Jiangsu. Research design, data and methodology: Through literature analysis, it is concluded that the factors that affect tourist satisfaction are divided into four major aspects: personal factors, perceived effect factors, destination experience factors, and social factors. Design a survey questionnaire from four aspects: diversity, safety, convenience, agreeableness, and draw conclusions through data analysis. Results: From the four dimensions of the survey, tourists pay more attention to the diversity, agreeableness, and convenience of rural tourism products. This requires increasing the development of tourism products and improving the richness and diversity of rural tourism products. Conclusions: Therefore, optimization measures such as continuously implementing local rural cultural construction, establishing brand effects, and increasing policy support have been proposed.

Study on Sense of Perceived Risk, Involvement, Satisfaction, and Loyalty of a Tourist Family for a Local Food Restaurant (가족 관광객의 향토음식에 대한 지각된 위험, 관여도, 만족과 충성도에 관한 연구)

  • This study aimed to determine a tourist family's perceptions of dining at a holiday destination. A key assumption of this study was that dining at an unfamiliar locale at a tourist resort is engaging in risk-taking behavior by the tourist family. In this unfamiliar setting, participation in the local food market takes on a significant role in the tourist family's sense of satisfaction and loyalty. For the purpose of this study, involvement pertains to the family's perceived relevance of the objective of this study based on inherent needs, values, and interests. For this study, 151 subjects vacationing with his/her family on Jeju Island participated. To perform research on perceived risk and involvement in terms of the decision maker's capacity, only one member of each family responded to the survey, which examined the impact on sense of satisfaction of perceived risk and involvement in the local food scene. Perceived risks were divided according to financial, performance, physical, social-psychological, and time-risk factors. Perceived risk and involvement were found to be significant predictors of the overall satisfaction of the tourist family's local food consumption. Furthermore, performance risk was determined to be significantly linked to the tourist family's dining sense of satisfaction and loyalty. These findings provide some meaningful marketing implications for Jeju Island's tourism industry. Reducing the performance risk and increasing the local food involvement may activate rural tourism and local food consumption. Theoretical and practical contributions to local food marketing are discussed.

  • The Influences of the Ecotourism Motive, on the Attitude, Resource Interpretation and Satisfaction of Tourist Ecotourism has been recently introduced to maintain the relation of mutual dependence between the tourism and the natural environment. However it is adversely used and creates the destruction of ecosystem. It is Important that the ecotourism is a tourism which tourists can experience and enjoy themselves on site rather than a tourism which they only see and hear, understand. It is assumed that a method should be found to maximize toursist' satisfaction and that the presentation of interpretation of the tourism resource may satisfy the tourist's satisfaction. The results offer the suggestion points as follows. 1. By providing the interpretation of tourism resource as well as the recreational object, the ecotourism can be activated with a sound recognition of nature and the reservation of environment, and furthermore, the development policy may be based on not only the area of ecotourism but also all of the tour area. 2. By providing the interpretation service of tourism resource for tourists, the satisfaction can be maximized by the high cognition of tourist. 3. By providing the information about the tourism destination and resource, it will contribute to the side of education, it will contribute the preservation of resource and the reservation of environment.
