Development of Green-Tourism Potential Evaluation Method for Rural Villages Considering Amenity and Human Resources (어메니티자원과 인적자원을 고려한 농촌마을의 관광잠재력 평가기법 개발)

  • This study aims to develop an evaluation method of green-tourism potential in village level with amenity resources of rural villages, considering human resources of the village. The amenity resources evaluation system was classified into three sub-classes with social, industrial, and natural resources. The system consisted of a relationship diagram between three classes resources and tourists' behavior. The new methodology considers human resources as a key factor for green-tourism potential evaluation of villages, including the amenity resources of three sub-classes. In quantitative method for the criteria, this study adopted a new method of continuous linear score method, which is applying fuzzy theory, not to give score with the existing discrete scoring method with several steps. The weighting values of the evaluation criteria were calculated from the step wise pair-comparision results by AHP(Analytic Hierachy Process) method, which industrial, natural, and social resources have relative weighting values of 523/1000, 319/1000, and 158/1000, respectively. In evaluation of another weighting value by the same methodology, the results showed that the amenity and the human resources have weighting values of 627/100 and 373/1000, respectively. The new evaluation method was applied to make the potential evaluation for rural villages of the study area, which located on Narial-myun, Keumsan-gun, Chungnam province. The development priority among the villages could be suggested reasonably by the new findings of this study, according to the evaluation results showing that the village with high possibility for development in green-tourism has high score in the potential evaluation.

National Brand, Tourism and Human Development: Analysis of the Relationship and Distribution

  • Purpose: This paper aims to determine features of the relationship between human development, tourism and national brand. Research design, data and methodology: ranking indicators, cluster analysis, K means method, correlation analysis. Results: The analysis covers data for 95 countries for 2019. The number of countries is justified by the availability of comparable data for calculations. A direct relationship between the indicators for the entire sample has been revealed in the result of the correlation analysis. However, this relationship has not been confirmed for the groups of countries that were formed through the cluster analysis. Spearman Rank Order and Kendall Tau Correlations have been calculated for the five obtained clusters. In two of the five clusters, the relationship between the indicators has not been found. A strong negative link between all the indicators has been detected in the cluster with average index values. A strong positive link between TTCI and BSI has been revealed in the group of countries with the best index values. A strong positive link between TTCI and HDI has been found in the group of countries with the worst index values. Conclusions: The analysis demonstrates that there is a relationship between BSI, TTCI and HDI, and while this link is observed for the sample as a whole, it is not homogeneous for groups of countries.

  • Recently, increases of leisure activities and 5-day workweek system enforce government employ rural tourism policy and projects. Operating projects are Green Rural Experience Village, Rural Tradition Theme Village, etc. In this study under investigation of Green Rural Experience Village site, Green-Tourism performance indicators were developed. Green-Tourism performance indicators of rural village were developed by BSC(balanced scorecard) and AHP(Analytic hierarchy process). Four perspective of BSC are divided into financial perspective, customer, internal-business process, and teaming and growth perspectives. To develop green-tourism performance indicators of rural village, low perspectives of BSC are converted into investment effect, visitor, internal process, and village inhabitants perspectives. By these perspectives, green-tourism performance indicators of rural village were developed. Weighting values on importance were calculated by AHP. Performance indicators developed in this study applied in 12 villages. With the result, generally well-known villages gained high score, and in accord with survey content.

Measuring the Economic Value of Smart Tourism Content Using Contingent Valuation Method: Focus on Augmented Reality (가상가치평가법을 적용한 스마트관광 콘텐츠의 경제적 가치 평가: 증강현실을 중심으로)

  • In an ever-changing tourism environment, we need to think about how to successfully attract tourists and provide them with memorable experiences. Smart tourism content is considered as a useful tourism resource for converting into an attractive tourist destination by providing new values in various tourist destinations as well as the changed tourism patterns due to COVID-19. However, there are still few successful cases of smart tourism contents that have secured economic sustainability. Accordingly, this study applied the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) to estimate the economic value perceived by tourists for smart tourism contents based on augmented reality to develop a smart tourism content development plan that can secure economic sustainability. As a results, it was confirmed that the lower the offered amount, the higher the awareness of the new value, the higher the likelihood of willingness to pay. Based on these research results, this study presented academic and practical implications for the development of smart tourism content that secured economic sustainability.

A Comparative analysis of the Pre- and Post-Construction Image Analysis of the Nakdong Estuary as Coastal Tourism Resource

  • The purpose of this study is the comparative analysis of Susan citizens' images of Eulsook-do as a coastal tourism destination before and after the construction of a road bridge across the Nakdong estuary in order to analyze local people's changes in leisure patterns. Analysis of the images of a pre-construction Eulsook-do that people aged both 40 and less and 50 and more had on five dimensions showed values higher than zero(0) that suggests neutral image, while their images of a post-construction Eulsook-do showed the shrinking size of pentagon on all five dimensions: ET(Entertainment), CA(Culture & Art), EE(Environment & Ecology), RC(Recreation) and LP(Leports) dimensions. Its pre- and post- construction image analysis conducted 20 years after it came to be built finds that the road bridge construction has led to the ecological, environmental disruption of the coast and the lower Nakdong river, having negative influence on the images of Eulsook-so.

Tourists' Re-Participation Intention in Wellness Tourism: Differences by Health Status and Health Consciousness

  • Purpose: This study analyses the key variables that influence tourists' intention to re-participate in wellness tourism. To this end, a theoretical model is developed that is grounded in the theories of perceived value and perceived risk. Additionally, this study segments the market based on tourists' health consciousness and health status, examining the differences in the process of forming re-participation intentions. Research Design, Data, and Methodology: An online survey of 305 Japanese respondents was conducted, and the research model and hypotheses were validated using SmartPLS 4 and SPSS. Results: The findings illustrate that perceived functional, social, emotional, and epistemic values from previous wellness tourism experiences positively influence tourists' attitudes, whereas time risk negatively affects them. Furthermore, functional value and attitudes enhance re-participation intentions, whereas financial risk decrease them. Cluster analysis identified three groups: 'Health-Conscious but Unwell'; 'Not Health-Conscious and Unwell'; and 'Health-Conscious and Well'. Those who are 'Health-Conscious and Well' are more likely to re-participate if they are satisfied with the functional value of their wellness tourism experience. Conclusions: The findings of this study offer destination marketers and service providers valuable insights into how tourists form behavioural intentions and how to strategically allocate resources to maximise the potential of wellness tourism.

  • Recently, tourism industry is on the trend of expanding its activity arena, boosted by revitalization of regional economy and reorganization of urban environment, undertaken for the purpose of place marketing. However, Korea has not been able to develop a variety of tourism itineraries that can attract the interest of tourists because most tourism resources are isolated with single function. This constraint has prevented tourism industry in Korea from attaining competitiveness. In attempting to overcome this constraint, this study seeks to develop tourism itineraries by constructing and utilizing database on historical and cultural tourism resources based on the case of Kangneung City. Through the construction of information system on historical and cultural resources and tourism support facilities, optimal tourism itineraries that take into account maintenance conditions, types, values, lodging availabilities and accessibility of tourism resource areas can be developed. Moreover, it is expected that this information system will have a high level of usage in the future, for it can provide a wide range of tourism services on the internet and education materials as well as facilitate resources management.

  • Many researcher contended that the tourism types of modern society has changed to 'experience tourism' from 'seeing tourism' recently. Therefore attempts to add edutainment factors in the original tour program has been introduced in cases of tourism cave. As we can see the Hwaam-cave in Jungsun-gun, by preparing with various pavilions which are well-matched with tourism cave. So, the purpose of this study is to the presentations of the activation programs that having on characteristics of edutainment tourism resources for tourism cave. Thus, first of all for establishing of this study, we examined the characteristics and values as tourism resources of cave and then observed the roles and examples of edutainment tourism cave, finally suggested.

  • The scientific paper studies the impact of tourism and traveling on the economic level of development of countries at the macro level and its relationship with other sectors of the economy. Tourism is one of the budget-forming factors of every economy. This work describes the main trends in the development of tourism. It is determined that about one third of tourism revenues are generated by the food sector, i.e., the culinary niche of tourism. Culinary tourism is a new direction of tourism, but it is developing quite dynamically in the EU. Culinary is an important part of rural tourism in the EU and culinary tourism is actively promoted at fairs and festivals. In recent years rural tourism has been developing both at the international level and in Ukraine, primarily due to its features, which include the implementation of the principles of sustainable community development, preservation of local traditions and cultural values, gastronomic events to promote them. The aim of the article is to study the theoretical aspects of the development of gastronomic tourism in the world, to analyze the actual condition of gastronomic tourism in the EU and Ukraine, identifying prospects and ways to develop regional gastronomic tourism. The methodological and informational basis of the work is analytical reports and researches related to the development of event tourism and statistics. Systematic and logistical approaches to the studied problems were used to achieve this goal. Various general scientific and special research methods were also used. Based on PESTLE analysis, key aspects of the external environment of gastronomic tourism in Ukraine are identified. We took into account the principles of sustainable development: political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental. The main trends in the development of gastronomic tourism in the world are studied and it is found that the greatest development in the coming years will be the trend of combining gastronomic and event tourism on the basis of sustainable development. The main preconditions and possibilities of introduction of this holistic approach to the strategy of development of the tourist branch of Ukraine are determined. A model of sustainable value chain of gastronomic tourism in the region is formed and the main advantages of its implementation are identified: formation of a regional brand, preservation of culinary traditions, development of green farming, minimization of negative impact on the environment, sustainable development of communities.

Cross-Cultural Study of Tourism Shopping Behavior Based on Escaping-Seeking Theory - Focused on Korean, Chinese, and Japanese fashion consumers - (탈출-추구이론을 중심으로 본 관광쇼핑행동에 대한 비교문화연구 - 한국, 중국, 일본 소비자의 패션쇼핑을 중심으로 -)

  • This study sought to verify the shopping values that tourists pursue by purchasing at travel destinations based on tourists' motivation and identify the effects of these values on the types of fashion items preferred by tourists. Furthermore, this study verified the tourist shopping behavior of three Asian countries-Korea, China, and Japan-from a cross-cultural perspective. To obtain a sample that represents tourist shoppers in each country, a survey was conducted on adult men and women in their 20s to 60s, and 986 subjects were collected: 300 Koreans, 385 Chinese, and 301 Japanese. Factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and multigroup SEM were performed on the collected data using SPSS Statistics and AMOS. Based on escaping-seeking theory, tourist intentions were divided into escaping and seeking motivations, and tourist shopping values were divided into functional, emotional, and social. The shopping items were divided into materials and experiential goods to understand the difference between the types preferred by tourists according to the perceived value. In addition, differences in tourist shopping behaviors according to the three nationalities were identified. The findings illustrate that the escaping motive affects emotional and social values, whereas the seeking motive affects all three. Moreover, it was confirmed that functional and emotional values affect preference for material and experiential goods, but social value only affects preference for material goods. For the cross-cultural study, differences in tourist shopping behavior according to nationality were identified.
