Important-Satisfaction Analysis as a Management Strategy of Suncheon Bay Ecological Park (순천만 자연생태공원 관리를 위한 중요도.만족도 분석)

  • The coastal area is the place where two conflicting values provide opportunities for recreation, tourism and conservation of the natural environment. Most of these coastal areas have been disregarded in terms of tourism because of the high value placed on natural resources. Management strategy has usually been first on the priority list of natural. resources. However, due to the significant number of visitors, the Important-Satisfaction Analysis(ISA) was applied as a mean of complement since the 1970s. This study analyzed the difference between visitor satisfaction and the importance of the main management strategy targeting visitors to Sun-cheon Bay Ecological Park on weekdays and weekends. Results show that Sun-cheon Bay Ecological Park and the city government have paid a lot of attention and invested a lot of money, but efficiency of publicity didn't come up to their afford. Therefore, we should prepare information facilities, public education facilities and human power. Also needed are visitors' temporal-spacial control to set specific programs and a guide for information education control. It means visitors' company forms change depends on weekday and weekend. In addition, a breeding space for birds should be built for observation, education and exhibition to help meet visitor expectations. Visitors' positive satisfaction might be provided in establishing strategy as a very important measure in limited area. In conclusion, this study might be provided as preliminary data when the management strategy and related guidelines are established through the management priority of coastal regions where importance and satisfaction conflict.

A Study on TQM Strategy in Tourist Hetels (관광호텔 TQM전략에 관한 연구)

  • TQM is a whole process of systemizing, documenting and measuring of service quality scientifically to achieve zero defects in product quality and to continue to improve the body of the product quality by itself. To have this process be improved continuously, first of all it needs to prepare an ideal environment to understand and to conform to its internal and external customers', that is every guests' and employees' expectations and demands. Then it has to be followed by the next step removing some negative aspects that could be derived from the first mentioned process The third step is to cut the cost be suitable compensation rather than an attitude trying to solve the problems in an easy way. The last essential factor for setting up TQM system is to make good use of the outstanding feature or process as it is reviewed against the superior benchmark. The purpose of this study is meet the customers' expectations and to maximize the hotel's profits by searching TQM(total quality management) strategy in hotels. To attain this research's objective, it follows these three details. Firstly, it defines TQM and its contents. Secondly, it provides the standard of hotel TQM throughout some case studies. Thirdly, it suggests TQM strategic plan in tourism hotel as one of professional management strategies. Two useful methods are used together to achieve the goal of this study. To confirm its theoretical consideration, descriptive studies by the research documents its theoretical consideration, descriptive studies by the research documents published in and out of the country is used. The other is case studies of TQM execution in real hospitality industry, which present the cases of the airline, Jefferson Memorial and the hotel. This research is targeting to demonstrate the successful TQM's exercise in a hotel industry by completing the theoretical studies and case studies on service product quality with an understanding of its importance. As it is said earlier, to lead to the successful TQM's practice, it is necessary to maintain a constant training of the employees. Secondly, it also must identify where it has to focus on to deliver a professional quality management. Thirdly, effective quality management organization needs to be build up. The manager's strong will to accomplish and the employee' active participations are the last condition to be succeed. Once again this study places an emphasis on the fact that TQM is critical to maximize the customers' satisfaction and the hotel's profitability. It is also very worthwhile to have every people working on front line recognize why the TQM is important and further more how they can contribute to improve their service quality by a positive participation and a careful observation of TQM's operating in their property.

The Effects of Emotional Intelligence on the Customer Orientation and Customer Relationship Management Performance of Hotel Employees (호텔기업 종업원의 감성지능이 고객지향성과 CRM성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - This study aimed to (a) investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on customer orientation, (b) examine the impact of customer orientation on customer relationship management (CRM) performance (including CRM-related variables such as 'relationship commitment,' 'image of corporation,' and 'customer loyalty'), and (c) identify the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected using a questionnaire given to a sample of employees of luxury hotels in the metropolitan area. To test the hypotheses, AMOS were conducted for the 271 respondents of the sample using the SPSS Win 17.0 software. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar of many leaders and managers over the past few decades. Emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thoughts, and interactions with others. Emotional intelligence consists of four factors: understanding the self's emotion, understanding other people's emotions, emotion utilization, and emotion control. Understanding the self's emotion means to understand of my own emotions. Understanding other people's emotions is to understand of the emotions of the people around me and to know how my friends feel based on their behavior. The concept of emotion utilization means to set goals for myself and then try to achieve them, encouraging myself to do my best. The concept of emotion control means I can control my temper, handle difficult situations rationally, and calm down quickly when I am very angry. Results - As a result of the analysis, three factors (understanding the self's emotion, understanding of other people's emotions, and emotion utilization) were shown to have a significant effect on customer orientation. Emotion control had an insignificant effect on customer orientation. Only emotion control makes it difficult to solve customers' problems because it is a passive behavior. In order to solve the customers' problems, hotel employees have to show a positive attitude. Second, customer orientation had a significant effect on customer relationship management performance (customer relationship commitment, corporate image, and customer loyalty). In other words, customer orientation increases commitment to customer relationships. For example, employees who have a customer-orientated perspective provide good service to their customers, while employees who don't have a customer-orientated perspective can't satisfy their customers. Customer orientation can also generate a good image among customers, because they evaluate the image of a hotel through the behavior of hotel employees. So it is very important for employees to show excellent customer orientation. Conclusions - It is very important for hotel CEOs to manage their employees' emotional intelligence. In order to increase their employees' emotional intelligence abilities, CEOs have to manage the overall corporate culture and reward programs to achieve what they want. This is because the system can lead to a customer-orientated mind-set and CRM performance among employees. As a result, the hotel CEO has to pay attention to the emotional intelligence of employees to achieve strong CRM performance. The sentence as originally written was a bit unclear.   • This study reviews the scientific management theories and discusses those theories within the food service industry. By providing the principles and the practical implications of the theories on the food service industry, this study tries to identify their philosophies and usefulness to the industry so that the managers in the industry use them in their dylmanic operations. In the fastly changing modern globalized world, we now face a situation where it's becoming more and more difficult to mange a restaurant business. In order to build a food industry business that can maintain a continuous development in today's business environment, one will have to apply the professional management theory in a cost-reduce strategy. It is more important though to have managers, organization members, in short, any person who can work to be motivated in accomplishing these two major issues-income increase and cost reduction. In this erawhere it's getting so difficult for researches on possible strategies for these business managers to overcome their difficulties. It is for certain that in the upcoming second millenium the travel and tourism industry will be one of the world's biggest industry worldwide. Korea's hotel industry has developed since the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games and has shown great amount of competition within the same business. Thus managers have become acquainted with the "know-how" strategy and the practical and scientific managemnet theories were introduced. This helped not only to increase income but also to maximize profit. However, rather than concentration on the "Hard-ware" aspect "Soft-ware" related professional management strategies were developed along with professionalism and human service were emphazied. As such, the actual cost of food and beverages are for the hotel industry business managers the biggest shortterm expense item. Due to the natural state of food items, there is a great chance of "Loss" in preservance, and this is the reason it is complicated to effectively maintain food. As a consequence, very often, the failure to managea hotel or restaurant depends on the capability of the food and beverage preservance mangement: on how they are able to manage effectively the original price of food and beverage. Finally, the main problem of the original price management of food and beverage in Korean hotels are: a) No fixation of set price b) The difficulty to calculate the price difference between a set price and an original price. c) Lack of professinalism in managing the food and beverage original price. d) Lack of perception of the highest ranking management personnels. So as to reform these matters it is necessary to : a) Reform on the management accounting system b) Emphasize to the people in charge on the idea of original price management c) Reinforce original price mangement prevention and assurance of indepedent inspection rights d) Reat manpower

The Status of Contact Lens Wearing, Management and Eye Health Awareness Among Female University Students in Jeju Area (제주지역 여대생들의 콘택트렌즈 착용 및 관리 실태와 눈건강 인식)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the status of contact lens wearing, management and awareness of eye health knowledge among female university students in Jeju area and to utilize the basic data for education and management of contact lens. Methods: Data for this study were collected from the 236 female university students in Jeju area who have a contact lens experience from May 1, 2016 to June 11, 2016. Results: We found the status of contact lens wearing and management of subjects and there were different correlations between discomfort and awareness of eye health knowledge among the subjects who have different characteristics. There were also correlations in discomfort, the average days of contact lens wear per week, initial wearing day and action when they have any discomfort in some contact lens wearers. Conclusions: We realized the status of contact lens wearing and management of female university students and it suggests appropriate contact care education and sustainable management system are need to be established for considering daily average wearing time, the type and material of contact lens wear and main discomfort and so on.

The Intention of Repurchase on e-Service Quality by Online Travel Agency Site (온라인 여행사 사이트 e-서비스품질이 지각된 가치, 만족도, 재구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this research is reflected on the rapid development of online tourism industries. The study was to establish the strategy for Korean tourism enterprises to develop tourist commodities suitable for Chinese tourists and attract them to visit Korea by the empirical analysis of the relation between repurchase intention of tourists and its premise variables (e-service quality, perceived value and satisfaction). Research design, data, and methodology - This research carried out a questionnaire survey on Chinese tourists who visited Korea with experience of using the online travel agency web sites. A total 398 answers were recovered, 41 of them were excluded due to the dishonest answers and 357 of them were finally analyzed. The data was analyzed with IBM SPSS AMOS 22.0. Results - The research results show that in the online travel agency web site e-service quality, convenience, interactivity, information validity, credibility had a positive impacts on perceived value and satisfaction. The perceived value of online travel agency website users has positive impart on satisfaction and repurchase intention. Satisfaction of online travel agency web site users have positive impacts on repurchase intention. But safety has no impact on perceived value while positive impacts on satisfaction was affected. Conclusions - First, in the online travel agency web site e-service quality, safety has no impact on perceived value while it was shown to have positive impacts on satisfaction because the users of online travel agency web sites believe that the protection of personal information, the defense of cracker and the safeguard of payment security are the basic premises of website operation. Although safety does not have impacts on perceived value, users benefits will suffer damage when hacker intrusion and other accidents occur so that online travel agency web sites should not ignore the security concerns. Second, credibility is a major concern for online travel agency web site users. At this time, it is necessary for the web site to establish a system to display both the commodity information and the using experience published on the user's SNS, thus improving the credibility of the website information.

  • The study, based on existing studies, explored influencing relationship, suggesting app service quality and user reviews as previous elements to affect use satisfaction about users' comments based on big data and reuse intention. The study includes a comparative analysis of existing studies. Based on such analysis results, the authors looked into app service quality elements perceived by gourmet restaurant app users and the role of user reviews, and suggested practical implications that can help the development and operation of gourmet restaurant app contents. The study subjects were male and female consumers who over 20 years old throughout Korea who had not a searched smartphone gourmet restaurant app in the three months preceding the survey. The subjects were selected from consumers who search the restaurantsby using restaurant apps like Mango plate, Dining code, Hot place, and selecting restaurants. Among them, consumers with experience using restaurants were finally selected for the survey. According to the results, reliability, informativity, and system capability, among service quality, had positive influences on app use satisfaction, while design and mobility had no effect. App use satisfaction had positive influences on app reuse intention. User comment informativity played a controlling role. The study explored the importance of app service quality and user review informativity as elements that affect continued use of gourmet restaurant apps by dining-out consumers.

A Study on the Hotel Employees' Perception on Tips (호텔 종사원의 팁에 대한 인식 연구)

  • Tipping takes significant part in hospitality industry, especially in hotels and restaurants. According to the recent studies, over US$26.4B were given to the service personnel in the restaurant industry from the customers as tips in 2003 in the US alone. As a result of these developments, tipping has been a legitimate area of academic inquiry in many foreign countries but here in Korea this custom has not drawn much attention due to service charge being placed by the government since 1979. The purpose of this study is to analyse the perception and attitude of tip recipients and compare it with the results of previous studies carried out by Shamir and Parrett. Statistical analyses were carried out to compare the differences of perception between tip recipients and non recipients on the staff role conflict, job satisfaction, pay satisfaction and attitude toward the guests. It is suggested from the finding that the current service charge system needs to be taken into consideration for possible revision or alteration as the management environment and customer needs in the hospitality industry in Korea are changing at an enormous pace. As this study focused on the perception of employees, further study on the perception of customers to tipping is highly recommended.

A Study on the Creation Rural Experience Village Reflecting the Travel trends of the Post-Corona - A Case of Wi-bong Village in Jeollabuk-do - (포스트 코로나 시대 관광 트렌드를 반영한 농촌체험마을 조성방안 연구 - 전라북도 완주군 소양면 위봉마을을 사례로 -)

  • With the COVID-19 pandemic, the global economy has stagnated and our daily lives have changed. The rural economy is also experiencing damage, such as an average of 65% or more decrease in the number of visitors to rural experience resort villages due to the spread of COVID-19. In order to minimize the damage arising from the prolonged coronavirus, a hospitality system in response to changes in rural tourism behavior and consumer demand is needed to revitalize rural areas and maintain continuous economic independence. Therefore, this study attempted to find ways to utilize landscape resources such as education, culture, history, and ecology in order to complement the existing experience programs in connection with local resources and local environment. Wibong Village, which is the subject of the study, attempted to revitalize the village using the resources through the "Creative village creation" project in 2015. Due to poor management of historical resources, difficulty in operating experience programs, and response to changes in the natural environment, the rate of implementation of the project plan was very low. Currently, the demand for experience is also decreasing due to the COVID-19 effect, so it was judged that it was necessary to develop an experience village program suitable for the needs of experienced visitors by discovering additional local resources for the continuous operation of the experience village. In order to solve the problem of the use of landscape resources and the spatial composition of the study site, additional investigations of local resources were made, and an experience program course that could be operated by theme was proposed by configuring a space suitable for the use of landscape resources. By dividing the additionally investigated landscape resources into history, ecology, and region, an experiential course was created to separate the traffic lines, and the space composition for large-scale experienced visitors that had been previously operated was constructed in a form suitable for the post-corona era. In addition, at least two experiential tour courses that can be operated by period were proposed to maintain economic effects. Starting with this study, if further research on the creation and spatial composition of a rural experience village centered on the connection with the region, it will be used as research results that can be referenced in projects such as village creation, rural space planning, and living area analysis. It is expected that it will be able to effectively cope with the construction of a rural area suitable for the post-corona era, where demand is expected to increase in the future.

The Effect of Changes in Airbnb Host's Marketing Strategy on Listing Performance in the COVID-19 Pandemic (COVID-19 팬데믹에서 Airbnb 호스트의 마케팅 전략의 변화가 공유성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The entire tourism industry is being hit hard by the COVID-19 as a global pandemic. Accommodation sharing services such as Airbnb, which have recently expanded due to the spread of the sharing economy, are particularly affected by the pandemic because transactions are made based on trust and communication between consumer and supplier. As the pandemic situation changes individuals' perceptions and behavior of travel, strategies for the recovery of the tourism industry have been discussed. However, since most studies present macro strategies in terms of traditional lodging providers and the government, there is a significant lack of discussion on differentiated pandemic response strategies considering the peculiarity of the sharing economy centered on peer-to-peer transactions. This study discusses the marketing strategy for individual hosts of Airbnb during COVID-19. We empirically analyze the effect of changes in listing descriptions posted by the Airbnb hosts on listing performance after COVID-19 was outbroken. We extract nine aspects described in the listing descriptions using the Attention-Based Aspect Extraction model, which is a deep learning-based aspect extraction method. We model the effect of aspect changes on listing performance after the COVID-19 by observing the frequency of each aspect appeared in the text. In addition, we compare those effects across the types of Airbnb listing. Through this, this study presents an idea for a pandemic crisis response strategy that individual service providers of accommodation sharing services can take depending on the listing type.
