TQM is a whole process of systemizing, documenting and measuring of service quality scientifically to achieve zero defects in product quality and to continue to improve the body of the product quality by itself. To have this process be improved continuously, first of all it needs to prepare an ideal environment to understand and to conform to its internal and external customers', that is every guests' and employees' expectations and demands. Then it has to be followed by the next step removing some negative aspects that could be derived from the first mentioned process The third step is to cut the cost be suitable compensation rather than an attitude trying to solve the problems in an easy way. The last essential factor for setting up TQM system is to make good use of the outstanding feature or process as it is reviewed against the superior benchmark. The purpose of this study is meet the customers' expectations and to maximize the hotel's profits by searching TQM(total quality management) strategy in hotels. To attain this research's objective, it follows these three details. Firstly, it defines TQM and its contents. Secondly, it provides the standard of hotel TQM throughout some case studies. Thirdly, it suggests TQM strategic plan in tourism hotel as one of professional management strategies. Two useful methods are used together to achieve the goal of this study. To confirm its theoretical consideration, descriptive studies by the research documents its theoretical consideration, descriptive studies by the research documents published in and out of the country is used. The other is case studies of TQM execution in real hospitality industry, which present the cases of the airline, Jefferson Memorial and the hotel. This research is targeting to demonstrate the successful TQM's exercise in a hotel industry by completing the theoretical studies and case studies on service product quality with an understanding of its importance. As it is said earlier, to lead to the successful TQM's practice, it is necessary to maintain a constant training of the employees. Secondly, it also must identify where it has to focus on to deliver a professional quality management. Thirdly, effective quality management organization needs to be build up. The manager's strong will to accomplish and the employee' active participations are the last condition to be succeed. Once again this study places an emphasis on the fact that TQM is critical to maximize the customers' satisfaction and the hotel's profitability. It is also very worthwhile to have every people working on front line recognize why the TQM is important and further more how they can contribute to improve their service quality by a positive participation and a careful observation of TQM's operating in their property.
The introduction of Smart technologies such as Artificial Intelligence(AI) systems are have a powerful impact in a variety of industry fields. Some experts predict that smart technology will completely change people's daily life and work styles, causing technological innovation, productivity improvement, and discovery and emergence of new fields. On the one hand, this vision cannot ignore negative views and concerns. Despite many social debates about employment, such as job loss and rising unemployment, there have not been many studies based on employee experience that provide a fundamental solution to the conflict between AI and employment. Therefore, this study finds out the effects and related factors of AI concierge robots for hotel employees, focusing on the hotel industry, and how employees' perceptions of AI concierge robots affect user resistance and turnover intention. This study, conducted a questionnaire survey of 322 hotel employees who had experience working with AI concierge robots in China, and used SPSS and SmartPLS statistical analysis programs to draw conclusions. We found that hotel employees' perceptions of AI concierge robots were significantly related to user resistance and turnover intention, and this association was related to employee self-efficacy, perceived organizational support, quality of AI services and new tasks. In addition, it was found that the quality of AI concierge robots directly or indirectly had the greatest influence on user resistance and turnover intention. The findings of this study provide theoretical implications for academia and practical implications for industry practitioners.
As a result of growth of digital music market in Korea, Creator's rights and interests have been at the heart of the debate in terms of legal system. In the music industry, digital music revenue has now overtaken records sales and compared to download service it is now clear that music streaming and subscription is mainstream model in the rise of the worldwide market of digital music. This trend is also indentical to the domestic and withholding regulations for music service and creator's rights and interests have become an ever growing issue. Ministry of Culture, Sports ad Tourism decided the revision of withholding regulations for the digital music service in 2013. The amendment is to change its policy of charging music service from the flat rate pricing to a usage-based system. This paper brought forward some disputable points such as fair division of profit, reasonable pricing for consumers etc. about the revision. Therefore, improvement of system and change in the perception of such copyrights are still required for both the encouragement of creator's activities and the high consumer satisfaction.
Thanks to the rapid development of information technologies, the data available on Internet have grown rapidly. In this era of big data, many studies have attempted to offer insights and express the effects of data analysis. In the tourism and hospitality industry, many firms and studies in the era of big data have paid attention to online reviews on social media because of their large influence over customers. As tourism is an information-intensive industry, the effect of these information networks on social media platforms is more remarkable compared to any other types of media. However, there are some limitations to the improvements in service quality that can be made based on opinions on social media platforms. Users on social media platforms represent their opinions as text, images, and so on. Raw data sets from these reviews are unstructured. Moreover, these data sets are too big to extract new information and hidden knowledge by human competences. To use them for business intelligence and analytics applications, proper big data techniques like Natural Language Processing and data mining techniques are needed. This study suggests an analytical approach to directly yield insights from these reviews to improve the service quality of hotels. Our proposed approach consists of topic mining to extract topics contained in the reviews and the decision tree modeling to explain the relationship between topics and ratings. Topic mining refers to a method for finding a group of words from a collection of documents that represents a document. Among several topic mining methods, we adopted the Latent Dirichlet Allocation algorithm, which is considered as the most universal algorithm. However, LDA is not enough to find insights that can improve service quality because it cannot find the relationship between topics and ratings. To overcome this limitation, we also use the Classification and Regression Tree method, which is a kind of decision tree technique. Through the CART method, we can find what topics are related to positive or negative ratings of a hotel and visualize the results. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the representation of an analytical approach for the improvement of hotel service quality from unstructured review data sets. Through experiments for four hotels in Hong Kong, we can find the strengths and weaknesses of services for each hotel and suggest improvements to aid in customer satisfaction. Especially from positive reviews, we find what these hotels should maintain for service quality. For example, compared with the other hotels, a hotel has a good location and room condition which are extracted from positive reviews for it. In contrast, we also find what they should modify in their services from negative reviews. For example, a hotel should improve room condition related to soundproof. These results mean that our approach is useful in finding some insights for the service quality of hotels. That is, from the enormous size of review data, our approach can provide practical suggestions for hotel managers to improve their service quality. In the past, studies for improving service quality relied on surveys or interviews of customers. However, these methods are often costly and time consuming and the results may be biased by biased sampling or untrustworthy answers. The proposed approach directly obtains honest feedback from customers' online reviews and draws some insights through a type of big data analysis. So it will be a more useful tool to overcome the limitations of surveys or interviews. Moreover, our approach easily obtains the service quality information of other hotels or services in the tourism industry because it needs only open online reviews and ratings as input data. Furthermore, the performance of our approach will be better if other structured and unstructured data sources are added.
Purpose - Based on complexity theory, this study develops a configurational model to predict the profitability of Halal cosmetics firms in the Indonesian and Malaysian markets. The proposed research model involves two level configurations-industry context and selling strategies-to predict high and low scores of a firm's profitability. The industry context configuration model comprises industry stability, product homogeneity, price sensitivity, and switching cost. Selling strategies include customer-focused, competitor-focused, and margin-focused approaches. Design/methodology - This is the first empirical study that calculates causal models using a combination of industry context and selling strategy factors to predict profitability. Data obtained from the marketing managers of cosmetics firms are used to test the proposed configurational model using fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). It contributes to the current knowledge of business marketing by identifying the factors necessary to achieve profitability using analysis of condition (ANC). Findings - The results revealed that unique and distinct models explain the conditions for high and low profitability in the Indonesian and Malaysian halal cosmetic markets. While customer-focused selling strategy is necessary to attain a higher profit in both the markets, margin-focused selling strategy appears to be an essential factor only in Malaysia. Complexity of the interactions of selling strategies with industry factors and differences between across two study markets confirmed that complexity theory can support the research configurational model. The theoretical and practical implications are also illustrated. Originality/value - Despite the rapid growth of the global halal industry, there is little knowledge about the halal cosmetic market. This study contributes to the current literature of the halal market by performing a set of asymmetric analytical approaches using a complex theoretical model. It also deepens our understating of how the Korean firms can approach the Muslim consumer's needs to generate more beneficial turnover/revenue.
To adapt to the constant change in the foodservice industry, dietary life is not only evolving variously and complicatedly, but eating-out styles are also changing fast. In this reality, this study is intended to examine the effects of marketing mix strategies on perceived value and loyalty in Korean restaurants. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to total 300 customers of Korean restaurants in Seoul from June 11 to June 30, 2013. The results were as follows. First, service experience, price and store image in Korean restaurants had a positive effect on the perceived value. Second, price, advertisement and store image in Korean restaurants had a positive effect on the loyalty. Third, the perceived value had a significant positive effect on the loyalty. As stated above, service experience, price and store image, and price, advertisement and store image in Korean restaurants had an effect on the perceived value and the loyalty, respectively. Also, the perceived value had an effect on the loyalty. Consequently, these factors are very useful as marketing mix strategies in Korean restaurants.
This paper describes to experiments on the estimation of tourist images in Busan. Preliminary tasks were performed to find out the condition of tourism souvenir and products proper to ocean city with situation in Busan. This survey analyzed by factor analysis taken in local residents, foreigners and other city. Result of factor analysis shows that the local residents and others think of Busan as similar image both. Outsider recognized Busan to tourist attractions of seaside environment and tourist facilities, and have good image of sightseeing and shopping in city. The local people remind Busan as progressive, feels sweet, activity, friendly image beside that foreign tourist remind as clean, modern, abundant, and others think as stable, changing, novelty, friendly. To abstract 8 factors among the images, take out of relevance to condition of tourist and image factors. Important factors for development of tourist industry in Busan are a feeling safe, clean, novelty in priority. And find way that enhancing image to abundant, friendly, activity were proper to tourist industry.
Internal marketing has been considered as a way of achieving higher service quality and customer satisfaction in the service industry. However, the definitions and implementation of internal marketing varies by researcher. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore an explanatory internal marketing mix that can be utilized in the foodservice industry. Using a web-based survey method, a total of 405 usable samples were collected and used in the data analysis. Five internal marketing components (i.e., vision, development, reward, employee motivation, and internal communication) were adopted from previous literature, and the results indicated significant impacts of the internal marketing mix on employee job satisfaction.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships of core-self evaluation, service recovery performance, job satisfaction and turnover intention among frontline staff in the Korean hotel industry. In order to examine the proposed hypotheses, descriptive statistics analysis, frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and covariance structure analysis were undertaken using SPSS(10.0) and AMOS(4.0) to explore the relationships among variables. The results showed that core-self evaluation had a significantly positive effect on service recovery performance. In addition, service recovery performance had a significantly positive effect on job satisfaction, while there was no evidence of relationship between service recovery performance and turnover intention. Job satisfaction was explored to have a significant negative effect on turnover intention.
First, generally the more business employ the financial and non financial outcome analysis for evaluation process, the higher the success rate of new product development becomes in the domestic restaurant market. Second, the study shows that the financial outcome tends to be considered more than non financial outcome on deciding success of the new product development. Third, it is indicated that although detailed plans have a large impact on the outcome of new product development, communication between departments within a company is not a considerably important factor for deciding success of the new product. Fourth, 'market environment' has significant influence on deciding adoption level of financial and non financial outcome analysis, organizational resources and culture.
