Research on the Performance of Total Heat Exchanger in a Solar Air-Conditioning System (태양열 이용 냉난방 공조시스템 중 전열교환기 성능에 관한 연구)

  • This report Introduces a total heat exchanger in a solar air-conditioning system using Lithium Chloride(LiCl) solution. The hot and humid outside air is cooled and dehumidified by LiCl solution that is sprayed on the packed layer of the total heat exchanger. LiCl solution once diluted is concentrated again in a regenerator using solar energy. Three types as the packed materials were used in this experiment and the dehumidification performance was evaluated by the value of $k_xa(kg/h{\cdot}m^3{\cdot}{\Delta}x)$, overall mass transfer coefficient based on a humidity ratio potential difference, the influence of inlet LiCl solution flow rate, air flow rate, packed layer height on $k_xa$ was investigated. It was found that air flow rate, LiCl solution flow rate, packed layer height for all types had a great influnce on the value of $k_xa$.

An Analytical Study on the Heat Transfer Characteristics of MF Evaporation Tubes Attached with a Fin (핀이 부착된 MF증발관의 열전달 특성에 대한 해석적 연구)

  • In this study, the heat transfer process around the finned channel tubes is numerically examined. Serially arranged tubes of an evaporator were used for heat exchange. The numerical analysis results confirmed that the vortex generated at the rear of the channel pipe was caused by the fin. Furthermore, it was also confirmed that the temperature difference was large between the inlet and outlet ends of the fin. The temperature of the location where the fin was attached to the channel pipe was found to be close to the surface temperature of the channel wall. However, the temperature rose rapidly closer to the ambient air temperature of 350 K towards the fin end, located at a distance of 0.035 m; it was found to have a significant influence on the heat transfer around the fin-attached channel tube. The wider the vertical flow path, the lower the total heat transfer coefficient. However, the overall heat transfer coefficient increased as the horizontal flow path narrowed. The increment is attributed to an increase in the heat transfer amount due to increased heat transfer surface.

Experimental Investigation of the Combined Effects of Heat Exchanger Geometries on Nucleate Pool Boiling Heat Transfer in a Scaled IRWST (열교환기 형상이 축소한 IRWST 내부의 풀핵비등에 미치는 복합적인 영향에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In an effort to determine the combined effects of major parameters of heat exchanger tubes on the nucleate pool boiling heat transfer in the scaled in-containment refueling water storage tank (IRWST), a total of 1,966 data for q'quot; versus ${\Delta}T$ has been obtained using various combinations of tube diameters, surface roughness, and tube orientations. The experimental results show that (1) increased surface roughness enhances heat transfer for both horizontal and vertical tubes, (2) the two heat transfer mechanisms, i.e.,enhanced heat transfer for both horizontal and vertical tubes, (2) the two heat transfer mechanisms, i.e., enhanced heat transfer due to liquid agitation by bubbles generated and reduced heat transfer by the formation of large vapor slugs and bubble coalescence are different in two regions of low heat fluxes (q'quot; $\leq$50kW/$m^2)$ and high heat fluxes (q'quot; $\geq$50kW/$m^2)$ depending on the orientation of tubes and the degree of surface roughness, and (3) the heat transfer rate decreases as the tube diameter is increased for both horizontal and vertical tubes, but the effect of tube diameter on the nucleate pool boiling heat transfer for vertical tubes is greater than that for horizontal tubes. Two empirical heat transfer correlations for q'quot;, one for horizontal tubes and the other for vertical tubes, are obtained in terms of surface roughness $({\varepsilon})$ and tube diameter (D). In addition, a simple empirical correlation for nucleate pool boiling heat transfer coefficient $(h_b)$ is obtained as a function of heat flux (q'quot;) only.ucleate pool boiling heat transfer coefficient $(h_b)$ is obtained as a function of heat flux (q'quot;) only.

  • In this paper, the operating thermal characterictics of liquid-ice was expeimentally investigated in an adiabatic and a non-adiabatic direct contact liquid-ice heat exchanger. Experiments were carried out varing inlet temperature, Ice Packing Factor, and the flow rate of heat transfer fluid. The higher inlet temperature and the more much inlet flow rate, thermal stratification in liquid-ice heat exchanger was established faster. In the case of adiabatic ice storage tank, temperature distribution was a little higher at all conditions than that of non-adiabatic one. The ratio of latent energy to total discharge energy($E_{\lambda}/E_[tot}$) was about 80%, and the discharge of latent heat energy was appeared rapidly as inlet temperature and flow rate were higher.

  • Total lengths of domestic pipe network for district heating system are above about 2,500Km. A lots of pumping power for heat transportation through long pipe are required by the flow friction of pipe surface. Until now there have been considered about various methods to reduce the flow friction for district heating system such as using surfactants and turbulence promoters by swirl flow and baffles etc. At this study, swirl flow generator was tested about the possibility to increase the heat transfer ratio at the heat exchanger in the case which the suppling water temperature increased from $50^{\circ}C$ until $120^{\circ}C$. Experimental results showed that the heat transfer ratio increased and also pressure increase ratio increased simultaneously in the case which swirl flow generator installed. The amount of the increasing ratio for heat transfer and pressure were reached until 4.33% and 11% at the case of $120^{\circ}C$ suppling temperature which domestic district heating system were using.

  • As automotive diesel engines adopt the direct injection method for a lower level of the exhaust emission and a higher fuel efficiency, the maximum temperature of engine coolant decreases. Consequently, the total available heat source from the engine coolant decreases over 35%. However, the heating source of air-conditioning system in automobiles depends on the hot engine coolant completely, so that it is nearly impossible to control air conditioning in heating season. Therefore, the present study has been carried out to develop the air conditioning system for the high efficient heat pump type using the HFC-134a. Especially, the air conditioning system of heating has been developed at a beginning stage, when it has low heat source from small and medium sized diesel recreation vehicles. To develop a control logic system for air conditioning system which is a heat pump type with a heat recovery exchanger, its cycle characteristics has been investigated according to the opening of LEV at a bench system.
