  • This paper proposes a grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) system, consisting of Voltage-fed dual-active-bridge (DAB) dc-dc converter with single phase inverter. The proposed converter allows a small dc-link capacitor, so that system reliability can be improved by replacing electrolytic capacitors with film capacitors. The double line frequency free maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is also realized in the proposed converter by using Ripple Correlation method. First of all, to eliminate the double line frequency ripple which influence the reduction of DC source capacitance, control is developed. Then, a designing of Current control in DQ frame is analyzed and to fulfill the international harmonics standards such as IEEE 519 and P1547, $3^{rd}$ harmonic in the grid is directly compensated by the feedforward terms generated by the PR controller with the grid current in stationary frame to achieve desire Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). 5-kW PV converter and inverter module with a small dc-link film capacitor was built in the laboratory with the proposed control and MPPT algorithm. Experimental results are given to validate the converter performance.

  • In this paper, a continuous-time filter for low voltage and high frequency applications using fully-balanced current integrators is presented. As the balanced structure of integrator circuits, the designed filter has improved noise characteristics and wide dynamic range since even-order harmonics are cancelled and the input signal range is doubled. Using complementary current mirrors, bias circuits are simplified and the cutoff frequency of filters can be controlled easily by a single DC bias current. As a design example, the 3rd-order lowpass Butterworth filter with a leapfrog realization is designed. The designed fully-balanced current-mode filter is simulated and examined by SPICE using 0.65${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS n-well process parameters. The simulation results show 50MHz cutoff frequency, 69㏈ dynamic range with 1% total harmonic distortion(THD), and 4㎽ power dissipation with a 3V supply voltage.

  • AC electric railroad system receives its power from 3-phase transmission system, Since, trainloads are changing continuously, the voltages for the single-phase load fluctuate in the train garage, and moreover, the fluctuating voltages generate high-order harmonics. This means that there is the difficulty in maintaining power quality in the power system. Therefore, a Static Var Compensator(SVC), which in general compensates the reactive power, is used in order to balance the trainload. In this paper, PSCAD/EMTDC is used for the analysis of harmonic generation in the train garage using SVC. The Total Harmonic Distortion(THD) of voltages is calculated using PSCAD/EMTDC dynamic simulation. As a result, the train garage using SVC improves power quality.

  • The field of power system harmonics has been receiving a great deal of attention recently. This is primarily due to the fact that non-linear (or harmonic-producing) loads comprise an ever-increasing portion of what is handled at a typical industrial plant. The incidence rate of harmonic-related problems is low, but awareness of harmonic issues can still help increase offshore power plant system reliability. On the rare occasion that harmonics become a problem, this is either due to the magnitude of harmonics produced or power system resonance. This harmonic study used an electrical configuration for the offloading scenario of a Floating LNG (FLNG) unit, considering power load. This electrical network configuration is visible in the electrical network load flow study part of the project. This study has been carried out to evaluate the performance of an electric power system, focusing on the harmonic efficiency of an electrically driven motor system to ensure offshore plant safety. In addition, the design part of this study analyzed the electric power system of an FLNG unit to improve the safety of operation and maintenance.

  • Many studies have been conducted to reduce environmental pollution by ships and reduce fuel consumption. As part of this effort, research on power conversion systems through DC distribution systems that link renewable energy with conventional power grids has been pursued as well. The diode rectifiers currently used include many lower harmonics in the input current of the load and distort supply voltage to lower the power quality of the whole system. This distortion of voltage waveforms causes the malfunctions of generators, load devices and inverter pole switching elements, resulting in a large number of switching losses. In this paper, a controller is presented to improve DC output waveforms, the input Power Factor and the THD of an AFE type PWM rectifier used for PLL. DC output voltage waveforms have been improved, and the input Power Factor can now be matched to the unit power factor. In addition, the THD of the input power supply has been proven by simulation to comply with the requirements of IEEE Std514-2014.

  • Cycloconverter used as a power conversion device in the speed and torque control system of AC machines has the advantage of a simple control and a large torque at low speed. In addition, because a rectifier, a DC link, and an inverter are not installed, this system is simple and suitable for large power system. If a power conversion device, which is currently used as a propulsion motor of large vessel, is changed into cycloconverter, the system is simplified and then the installation costs can be significantly reduced. However, conventional cycloconverter has the increased harmonics because the power loss is large and the waveform of output voltage is distorted, due to the high-speed switching of power semiconductor devices. In order to improve these shortcomings, this paper describes a phase shifting filter which is composed of two inputs with different phases in the primary side and one output in the secondary one. As the voltage waveforms with two different phases are added and transformed into the secondary side, these outputs are close to sinusoidal waves. Thereby the voltage waveforms, which are applied to the propulsion motors, are improved and total harmonic distortions (THDs) are significantly reduced.

  • Photovoltaic power generation is the most familiar power generation facility among new and renewable energies, and its supply began to expand about 10 years ago, and at this point, interest in solutions and technologies for system maintenance management is increasing. In particular, it is necessary to take measures to maximize the overall efficiency of the solar power generation system, whether or not there is an abnormality in the solar power generation system, and when to replace parts. The PV inverter, one element of the photovoltaic power generation system, is a power conversion system that relies on power switching devices, and DC-Link capacitors are used according to the configuration of DC/DC converters and DC-AC inverters. These DC capacitors also affect system safety (Safety) through renewable energy facilities due to the decrease in power generation of PV inverters, power loss, and increase in harmonics (THD, total distortion of AC output current) due to aging and deterioration due to long-term use. factors can be analyzed. Therefore, in this paper, the PV inverter operating characteristics according to the DC capacitor capacity state currently operating in the photovoltaic power generation system were considered, and research contents were proposed to secure the safety and reliability of renewable energy facilities.
