간정격 시술 및 생간건비탕 투여가 간기능 및 비만도 변화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ganjeonggyeok Acupuncture and Saengkankunbi-tang Treatment in the Changes of LFT and Lipid-obesity Index Values)

  • Objectives : This study was aimed to figure out how effectively acupuncture treatment and herb-medicine work on patients with elevation of LFT value and lipid-obesity index. Methods : The subject were 23 patients visited to Dept. of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Kwangdong Oriental Medicine Hospital, who complained chronic fatigue and wandering pain from Oct. 2007. to Oct. 2008. Before treatments, they were tested for LFT, total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. They were treated with Ganjeonggyeok acupuncture weekly for 1 month. During acupuncture treatments, we applied Sangkankunbi-tang to all patients twice a day. After 1 month, they were retested for LFT, total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. Results : 1. After treatments, we could get the result of dropping means of AST, ALT and $\gamma$-GTP value. Statistical significance of ALT and $\gamma$-GTP were recognized before and after treatments, but AST was not recognized. 2. After treatments, we also could get the result of dropping means of total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. Statistical significance of all values were recognized before and after treatments. 3. Among 23 patients, 10 cases were reported that they were not within normal limits at least one in AST, ALT and $\gamma$-GTP. After treatments of those patients, we could get the result of dropping means of AST, ALT and $\gamma$-GTP value. Statistical significance of all values were recognized before and after treatments. 4. Among 23 patients, 19 cases were reported that they were not within normal limits at least one in total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. After treatments of those patients, we could get the result of dropping means of total cholesterol, triglyceride, body fat ratio and obesity index. Statistical significance of all values were recognized before and after treatments. Conclusions : Though further study is necessary, our finding suggest that the conduction of Ganjeonggyeok acupuncture and Sangkankunbi-tang treatments have helped to decrease the figures of LFT and lipid-obesity index in patients.

새송이버섯이 고지방 식이를 급여한 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Pleurotus eryngii on Lipid Metabolism in Rats Fed High Fat Diet)

  • 새송이버섯이 고지방식이를 섭취한 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향을 조사하고자, 성숙한(생후 21주령) 숫쥐에 표준식 이에 $20\%$ 돈지를 첨가한 식이를 급여한 대조군, 대조식이에 새송이 버섯 분말을 $3\%$$5\%$씩 첨가한 식이를 급여한 군($3\%$$5\%$ 새송이버섯군) 등 3군으로 나누어 10주간 사육한 결과는 다음과 같다. 실험동물의 체중증가량 및 식이효율은 대조군에 비하여 $3\%$$5\%$ 새송이버섯군이 유의하게 감소되었다. 간과 신장 및 부고환지방의 무게는 대조군과 새송이버섯군들이 비슷하였다. 간의 총 지질 및 중성지질 농도는 대조군에 비하여 새송이버섯군들이 유의하게 감소 되었다. 혈청의 총 콜레스테롤과 LDL-콜레스테롤 농도 및 동맥경화지수는 대조군에 비해 새송이 버섯군들이 유의하게 감소되었다. 총 콜레스테롤에 대한 HDL-콜레스테롤의 비율은 대조군에 비해 새송이버섯군들이 유의하게 증가되었다. 변의 g당 총 지질배설량은 새송이버섯군이 대조군보다 유의하게 증가된 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과로 보아 고지방식이에 새송이버섯 분말 첨가 급여시 흰쥐 간의 중성지질 농도, 혈청의 총 콜레스테롤과 LDL-콜레스테롤 농도 및 동맥경화지수를 낮추고, 총 콜레스테롤에 대한 HDL-콜레스테롤의 비율을 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다.

서울지역 일부 고등학생의 지방산 섭취 패턴과 혈청 지질 및 혈청 지방산 조성에 관한 연구 (Studies on Fatty Acid Intake Patterns, Serum Lipids and Serum Fatty Acid Compositions of High School Students in Seoul)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the pattern of individual fatty acid intake and to compare serum lipid levels and total serum fatty acid composition of high school students in Seoul (total : 234 ; male : 91 ; female : 143) In serum lipid levels, total cholesterol (Chol.), HDL-Chol. and LDL-Chol. levels of female students were significantly higher than those of male students and there was no significant difference between High Fish & Low Meat intake (HFLM) and Low Fish & High Meat intake (LFHM) groups. The average fat intake was 22-25 energy % of total subjects and especially, that of LFHM group was 29%, which were over the recommendation level. Although the average P/M/S ratio of dietary fat was 1.1/1.2/1.0, the average range of $\omega6/\omega3$ fatty acid ratio of dietary fat was found to be 17.9-20.7, which was far beyond the suggested range, 4-10. The average intake of cholesterol of total subjects was 360mg. LFHM group had more meats and beverages such as carbonated drinks and tended to have less beans, vegetables and mushrooms. In addition, LFHM group had more energy and fat intake than those of HFLM group, the P/S ratio of dietary fat (0.73) was lower than the recommended ratio. Serum C16 : 0 composition of LFHM group was significantly higher than that of HFLM group, and EPA and DHA composition of HFLM was significantly lower than that of LFHM. Therefore, in HFLM group, the P/S ratio of serum fatty acids was significantly higher and the $\omega6/\omega3$ ratio was lower. Dietary C18 : 0 was negatively correlated with serum EPA and DHA composition. Individual PUFA intake was negatively correlated with serum C16 : 0 and sum of SFA, and positively correlated with serum C18 : $2\omega6(LA)\;,\;sum\;o;\omega6$ and sum of PUFA. Serum C18 : 1, C18 : $3\omega3\; and\; C20\;:\;4\omega6$ (AA) compositions were not correlated with dietary fatty acid. Only serum triglyceride (TG) levels were significantly correlated with serum fatty acid compositions. Sum of SFA, C14 : 0, C16 : 0, sum of MUFA and C18 : 1 compositions were positively correlated with serum TG levels, but LA, AA, sum of PUFA and P/S ratio were negatively correlated with it.

전산화 단층촬영을 이용한 성인여성의 복부비만과 지질대사지표와의 연관성 (The Relationship of Abdominal Obesity and Lipid Profiles by Computed Tomography in Adult Women)

  • 복부비만은 2형 당뇨병과 고지혈증, 고혈압, 관상동맥질환 등의 심혈관계 질환의 주요 위험인자이며 특히 내장형 복부 비만인 경우 위험도가 더 크다고 알려져 있다. 이 연구에서는 2006년 4월부터 2007년 9월까지 일개 대학병원 비만 클리닉을 방문한 BMI 23 이상의 성인 여성 25명을 대상으로 하여 복부지방 CT를 실시하여 지질대사지표와의 상관성 및 내장지방 분포에 영향을 주는 요인을 분석하였다. 8시간 공복 후 채취한 정맥혈액을 이용하여 Glucose, TC, TG, HDL의 농도를 분석하였고, 안정시의 이완기 혈압과 수축기 혈압을 측정하였다. 연구결과 내장지방량은 TC와 TC/HDL과 음의 상관관계를 보였다. 통계적으로는 BMI, TAF, VSR이 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다(p < .001). 내장지방량을 가장 잘 반영하는 지질대사지표는 TC와 TG, HDL인 것으로 나타났으며, 이 회기분석모델은 47%의 설명도를 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

서울지역 여고생의 국소지방 침착의 양상과 변증과의 연관성 (The Relationships between Type of Localized Fat and Traditional Diagnostic Method in Korean High-school girls)

  • Background : There are many korean women who have localized fat despite of they have normal or slightly over weight. The relationships of traditional diagnostic method with total body fat and body mass index had been reviewed in other study, but there is no study regarding the relationship of traditional diagnostic method and localized fat. So we designed this study to find out the relationships between localized fat and traditional diagnostic method among Korean high-school girls. Methods : This research was performed in 21 high-school girls with localized fat during April 2007. We measured body mass index, percent of body fat, waist circumference, hip circumference and means of both thigh circumference. Phlegm questionnaire, blood stasis questionnaire, cold-heat questionnaire, Korean eating attitude test-26 and questionnaire of Sasang constitution classification Ⅱ+ have been administered. Results : There were significant correlations between body mass index, percent of body fat and body size. Regardless of body mass index, they had high phlegm and heat pattern. Most of them are classified as Tae-um type person. Conclusions : High-school girls with localized fat had pattern of high phlegm, heat and characteristics of Tae-um person.

고지방 식이로 유도된 비만 백서에서 뽕잎 추출물의 항비만 효과 (Anti-obesity Effect of Mulberry Leaves Extraction in Obese Rats High-fat Diet)

  • The aims of this investigation was to examine the anti-obesity effects of oral administration with Mulberry leaves extraction in the high-fat diet induced obesity rats. We investigated the anti-obesity effects of the extract from Mulberry leaves on the progress of high fat diet for 8 weeks. Experimental rats were divided into 5 different experimental groups including an normal group (normal dieat; n=10), control group (high fat diet; n=10), I (Mulberry leaves extraction 100 mg/kg oral administration induced obesity; n=10), II (Mulberry leaves extraction 300 mg/kg oral administration; n=10), and III (Mulberry leaves extraction 500 mg/kg oral administration; n=10). It is to analysis changes in body weight, epididymal fat weight, blood lipid profiles, and fat histological findings. Body weights were significantly increase in control group than normal groups(p<0.05). The level of total cholesterol, LDL-C and TG were significantly lower in experimental groups than control group (p<0.05). In histopathologic finding of fat-tissue around testicle experimental group I and II were more decreased than high fat diet-induced control group in fat cell size. These results suggested that the Mulberry leaves extraction oral administration made the increase of anti-obesity effect in high-fat diet induced obesity rats.

Facial Soft Tissue Augmentation using Autologous Fat Mixed with Stromal Vascular Fraction

  • Background Autologous fat grafting evolved over the twentieth century to become a quick, safe, and reliable method for restoring volume. However, autologous fat grafts have some problems including uncertain viability of the grafted fat and a low rate of graft survival. To overcome the problems associated with autologous fat grafts, we used uncultured adipose tissue-derived stromal cell (stromal vascular fraction, SVF) assisted autologous fat grafting. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of SVF in a clinical trial. Methods SVF cells were freshly isolated from half of the aspirated fat and were used in combination with the other half of the aspirated fat during the procedure. Between March 2007 and February 2008, a total of 9 SVF-assisted fat grafts were performed in 9 patients. The patients were followed for 12 weeks after treatment. Data collected at each follow-up visit included clinical examination of the graft site(s), photographs for historical comparison, and information from a patient questionnaire that measured the outcomes from the patient perspective. The photographs were evaluated by medical professionals. Results Scores of the left facial area grafted with adipose tissue mixed with SVF cells were significantly higher compared with those of the right facial area grafted with adipose tissue without SVF cells. There was no significant adverse effect. Conclusions The subjective patient satisfaction survey and surgeon survey showed that SVF-assisted fat grafting was a surgical procedure with superior results.

임신부의 체위와 체조성 및 임신의 결과 (Anthropometric and Body Compositional Measurements and Pregnancy Outcomes)

  • Anthropometric and body compositional changes and the outcomes of the pregnancies of 90 healthy Korean women were investigated in a longitudinal study. Their weight increased from 51.3$\pm$5.9kg to 65.1$\pm$7.8kg during their pregnancies. The total weight gain was 13.8$\pm$4.5kg, and therefore, weekly weight gain was 340$\pm$110g during the entire period of the pregnancy. The weight gain was composed of approximately 50-60% fat mass and 40-50% fat-free mass. Skinfold thicknesses, both of triceps and subscapular, increased during the pregnancies. The fat mass calculated from skinfold thickness and that measured with bioelectrical impedance analysis went on increasing during the pregnancies. Although there was a considerable difference with respect to the fat mass observed using the three methods, fat mass gain was 5.0-6.1kg and fat-free mass gain was 4.0-5.3kg from the first trimester to the third trimester of pregnancies. There were significant correlations between maternal anthropometric parameters and indices of pregnancy outcomes. Especially, the infant's birth weight was associated with maternal pre-pregnancy weight and weight gains during the pregnancies. The infant's birth length was related to the maternal weight observed at term(p<0.05) and weight gain during the entire pregnancies (p<0.05) . Neither increase of fat mass nor fat-free mass affected the outcomes of pregnancy. These results show that maternal weight gain during pregnancy is led by increments of approximately above 50% fat mass. The fat mass increase seems to be larger in central areas than in subcutaneous areas. Maternal weight gain during pregnancy, especially during late pregnancy, is a factor affecting the birth weight and length of infant. On the basis of the body compositional changes, it can be predicted that the additional energy requirement for pregnancy in Korean women is more than 200-230 MJ (64,500-76,250kca1). Anti-Obesity and Hypolipidemic Effects of Dietary Levan in High Fat Diet-Induced Obese Rats

  • We found previously that dietary high fat caused obesity, and levan supplementation to the regular diet reduced adiposity and serum lipids. In the present study, we examined the effects of levan [high-molecular-mass $\beta$-(2,6)-linked fructose polymer] supplement on the development of obesity and lipid metabolism in rats fed with high-fat diet. Thus, to determine whether the dietary levan may have the anti-obesity and hypolipidemic effects, 4-wk-old Sprague Dawley male rats were fed with high-fat diet for 6 wk to induce obesity, and subsequently fed with 0, 1, 5, or 10% levan supplemented high-fat diets (w/w) for another 4 wk. For the comparison, a normal control group was fed with AIN-76A diet. Supplementation with levan resulted in a significant reduction of high-fat-induced body weight gain, white fat (i.e., epididymal, visceral, and peritoneal fat) development, adipocyte hypertrophy, and the development of hyperinsulinemia and hyperlipidemia in a dose-dependent manner. Serum triglyceride and free fatty acid levels were greatly reduced by levan supplementation. Serum total cholesterol level was reduced, whereas the HDL cholesterol level was increased by dietary levan. The expression of uncoupling protein (UCP) was increased by dietary high fat, and was further induced by levan supplementation. The mRNA level of UCP1, 2, and 3 in brown adipose tissue (BAT) and UCP3 in skeletal muscle was upregulated in rats fed with dietary levan. In conclusion, upregulated UCP mRNA expression may contribute to suppression of development of obesity through increased energy expenditure. The present results suggest that levan supplementation to the diet is beneficial in suppressing diet-induced obesity and hyperlipidemia.

Anti-obesity Effect of Monascus pilosus Mycelial Extract in High Fat Diet-induced Obese Rats

  • This study was carried out to investigate the dietary effects of Monascus pilosus mycelial extract on obesity in high-fat with cholesterol-induced obese rat models. It was observed that M. pilosus mycelial extract contains $25.85{\pm}1.98mg%$ of total monacolin K without citrinin by highperformance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The rats were randomly divided into 2 groups; normal control and a high-fat with cholesterol diet group. The high-fat with cholesterol diet group was fed a 5L79 diet with an added 15% lard and 1% cholesterol supplemented diet for 3 weeks for induction of obesity. After induction, obesity was confirmed by checking obesity indexes, the animals were divided into 4 groups (n=5); first, the normal control (NC), and then taken from the obese model of rats, a high-fat with cholesterol diet obesity control group (HF), 0.5% M. pilosus mycelial extract supplemented high-fat with cholesterol diet group (MPMs), 2% conjugated linoleic acid supplemented high-fat with cholesterol diet group (CLA) for 7 weeks. Body weight gains, obesity indexes, and body fat contents in the experimental groups (MPMs and CLA) were decreased compared with HF group. Feed Efficiency Ratio (FER) in MPMs was significantly lower than that of HF without change of feed intake. These results suggested that the anti-obesity effects of the M. pilosus mycelial extracts (MPMs) could prevent obesity induced by high-fat with cholesterol diet possibly via inhibition of lipid absorption.
