Object Contour Extraction Algorithm Combined Snake with Level Set (스네이크와 레벨 셋 방법을 결합한 개체 윤곽 추출 알고리즘)

  • Typical methods of active contour model for object contour extraction are snake and level. Snake is usually faster than level set, but has limitation to compute topology of objects. Level set on the other hand is slower but good at it. In this paper, a new object contour extraction algorithm to use advantage of each is proposed. The algorithm is composed of two main steps. In the first step, snake is used to extract the rough contour and then in the second step, level set is applied to extract the complex contour exactly. 5 binary images and 2 natural images with different contours are simulated by a proposed algorithm. It is shown that speed is reduced and contour is better extracted.

Optimum Design of Rail in Semiconductor Processing (반도체 공정에 이용되는 레일의 최적설계)

  • There is an over head hoist transporter(OHT) by the system for delivering the wafer in semiconductor processing. The transfer system consist of carrier, vehicle, rail and support. The Tail supporting the wafer and the transfer system should maintain enough strength and stiffness. To achieve lightness and enough strength and stiffness, optimization algorithm should be introduced in design process. In this study, two kinds of section shapes as L-type, C-type is carried out the structure analysis and optimization. Total weight of rail is to be minimized while displacement should not exceed limit. To improve the initial model, topology optimization is done by the plain problem. Size optimization is done with 3D solid element and PLBA algorithm, the RQP algorithm. The weight of optimum model as L-type, C-type is decreased by 2.3%, 10% respectively. It is improved better than the initial model in the strength and stiffness of the structure.

  • In this paper we discuss the elements which must be considered for collaboration- aware application design and their effcets on user interfaces. Collaboration-aware applications have inter-user and user/system interaction features besides generic real-time distribution system features and this restricts the design freedom with the requirement of consistent user interfaces. Programmers, therefore, must provide uniform and logically consistent user interfaces to user and, for this end, they should consider main design features such as concurrency control algorithms, system topology and object replication scheme. Among the design factors concurrency control algorithms have relatively significant impact on user interfaces and we consider the impact of concurrency control agorithms along with that of thesystem to pologyand the objectreplication scheme. Coshed/SAS, a groupeditor, is given as an example of application of the factors.

Design and Implementation of Smart Self-Learning Aid: Micro Dot Pattern Recognition based Information Embedding Solution (스마트 학습지: 미세 격자 패턴 인식 기반의 지능형 학습 도우미 시스템의 설계와 구현)

  • In this paper, we design a perceptually invisible dot pattern layout and its recognition scheme, and we apply the recognition scheme into a smart self learning aid for interactive learning aid. To increase maximum information capacity and also increase robustness to the noises, we design a ECC (error correcting code) based dot pattern with directional vector indicator. To make a smart self-learning aid, we embed the micro dot pattern (20 information bit + 15 ECC bits + 9 layout information bit) using K ink (CMYK) and extract the dot pattern using IR (infrared) LED and IR filter based camera, which is embedded in the smart pen. The reason we use K ink is that K ink is a carbon based ink in nature, and carbon is easily recognized with IR even without light. After acquiring IR camera images for the dot patterns, we perform layout adjustment using the 9 layout information bit, and extract 20 information bits from 35 data bits which is composed of 20 information bits and 15 ECC bits. To embed and extract information bits, we use topology based dot pattern recognition scheme which is robust to geometric distortion which is very usual in camera based recognition scheme. Topology based pattern recognition traces next information bit symbols using topological distance measurement from the pivot information bit. We implemented and experimented with sample patterns, and it shows that we can achieve almost 99% recognition for our embedding patterns.

  • To achieve high-speed communication and to improve QoS characteristics, ATM is now being used as underlying transfer mechanism of Internet protocols, or TCP/IP. When TCP uses the ABR service in ATM networks, the ABR service control is important to improve the performance of TCP/IP traffic as long as there is no interaction between ABR rate control and TCP flow control. In such environment, the interoperability of EFCI and ER switches becomes unavoidable in order to more effectively control ABR traffic in ATM network. In this paper, we use the model of mixed EFCI-ER environment and discuss the performance issues, e.g., the fairness of bandwidth allocation, drop rate, throughput by using various ER switch algorithms. Among various ERSwitch algorithms, we present one algorithm that have a less network topology and allocate the fair share of VC bandwidth by simulation results.

  • 이 논문에서는 네트워크 모니터링을 위해 기존의 기법들과는 달리 네트워크 토폴로지를 기반으로 한 접근 방법을 통해 보다 효율적으로 폴링 트래픽에 대한 오버헤드를 제어하는 동적 폴링 기법을 제시하였다. 제안된 기법에서는 폴링트래픽에 대한 오버헤드를 제어하기 위해 관리 도메인의 네트워크 토폴로지 정보를 이용한다. 네트워크 토폴로지 정보를 이용하여 폴링을 위한 노드 리스트에서 각 노드들 간의 연결 관계를 표현한다면 토폴로지 순서에 의해 빠르고 정확하게 실시간 네트워크 정보를 파악할 수 있다. 따라서 이러한 방법을 통해 기존의 제안된 기법들 보다 폴링 처리율을 높임으로써 보다 효율적인 동적 폴링 기법을 제안하였으며, 다른 기법들과의 비교를 통해 제안된 기법의 효율성을 증명하였다.

Buffer and Rate Control Based Congestion Avoidance in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Due to dense deployment and innumerable amount of traffic flow in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), congestion becomes more common phenomenon from simple periodic traffic to unpredictable bursts of messages triggered by external events. Even for simple network topology and periodic traffic, congestion is a likely event due to dynamically time varying wireless channel condition and contention caused due to interference by concurrent transmissions. In this paper, we have proposed three mechanisms: upstream source count and buffer based rate control and snoop based MAC level ACK scheme to avoid congestion. The simulation results show that our proposed mechanism achieves around 80% delivery ratio even under bursty traffic condition

  • 본 논문에서는 네트워크 장비를 사용하지 않고 hypercube topology를 기반으로 PC 들을 직접 연결하여 PC 클러스터를 구현하고 그 실용성을 검증한다. Hypercube 방식의 네트워크는 통신 장비를 사용하지 않기 때문에 저렴하고 보다 안정적이며, 네트워크 부하가 적어 높은 성능의 클러스터 시스템을 구축할 수 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. Hypercube 네트워크의 성능을 알아보기 위하여 다양한 성능 분석 툴 및 병렬 프로그램을 통하여 Gigabit 스위치를 사용한 네트워크와 비교/분석 한다.

  • In this paper, we propose signaling procedures amon network elements for a connection rerouting method which can reduce inter-switch handoff processing delay reduces the delay in the connection re-routing by reserving VPI/VCIs for possible inter-switch handoff calls in advance. Additionally, we mathematically analyze the signaling procedures and then suggest solutions to the relations with cluser size, network topoloty, handoff-request rete and handoff delay. With simulation, the solutions are validated. From numerical examples, we concluded taht handoff delay, one of the handoff QoSs, can be satisfied by adjusting the cluster size and network topology according to the handoff -request rate of service area. With our proposed signaling and analytic methods, we concluded that the connection rerouting method using cluster-sectoring effectively reduces the delay of inter-switch handoff processing than dynamic connection rerouting method. Our solutions are useful in guaranteeing the requested handoff delay (especially, inter-switch handoff delay) when the connection rerouting method is applied to ATM-based wireless/wired integrated network.

  • Vehicular Adhoc Network는 accident warning, road condition message와 같은 도로상의 정보를 vehicle-to-vehicle 통신을 통해 주어진 목적지까지 얼마나 빠르고 정확하게 전송하는 것이 주요 이슈이다. 무선 센서 네트워크의 많은 타입들 중에서 VANET 환경에 적합한 source 기반의 라우팅 프로토콜은 불안정한 이동 네트워크의 역할을 충실히 수행할 수 있다. Source 라우팅 기법들을 연구하는데 road topology와 map 정보가 사용되며, 본문에서는 도로의 상황과, 라우팅이 직접 수행되는 영역을 부분으로 나누어 각 영역에 속한 이동 노드를 파악하여 다중 경로 라우팅 방안을 제시하여 error 발생과 link fail에 대한 신속한 대처를 수행한다.
