  • In general, we use a Parallel processing computer manufactured specially for the purpose of parallel processing to do high performance computings. But we can depoly and use a PC cluster composed of several common PCs instead of the very expensive parallel processing computer. A common way to get a PC cluster is to adopt the star topology network connected by a switch hub. But in this paper, we grope efficient implementations of hypercube networks based on TCP/IP to connect 8 PCs directly for more useful parallel processing environment, and make evaluations on functionality and efficiency of them using ping, netperf, MPICH. The two proposed methods of implementation are IP configuration based on link and IP configuration based on node. The results of comparison between them show that there is not obvious difference in performance but the latter is more efficient in simplicity of routing table. For verification of functionality, we compare the parallel processing results of an application in them with the same in a star network based PC cluster. These results also show that the proposed hypercube networks support a perfect parallel processing environment respectively.

  • Information-Centric Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (IC-VANET) is a promising network architecture for the future intelligent transport system. Video streaming applications over IC-VANET not only enrich infotainment services, but also provide the drivers and pedestrians real-time visual information to make proper decisions. However, due to the characteristics of wireless link and frequent change of the network topology, the packet loss seriously affects the quality of video streaming applications. In this paper, we propose a REceiver-Driven loss reCOvery Mechanism (REDCOM) to enhance video dissemination over IC-VANET. A Markov chain based estimation model is introduced to capture the real-time network condition. Based on the estimation result, the proposed REDCOM recovers the lost packets by requesting additional forward error correction packets. The REDCOM follows the receiver-driven model of IC-VANET and does not require the infrastructure support to efficiently overcome packet losses. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed REDCOM improves video quality under various network conditions.

  • In simple topology in network system, query should be delivered to all linked peers for query processing. This causes waste of transmission band width and throughput of each peer. To overcome this, as well as query processing strategy, efficient routing technique to deliver query to proper peer is needed. For efficient routing, clustering of peers in P2P networks is important. Clustering of P2P network bases on that combines peers that have similar characteristics in same cluster reduces quantity of message in network than assign peer for cluster randomly. In this paper, we propose clustering techniques for ontology based P2P query processing. Similarity measure point, cluster index structure, and query processing steps in ontology based P2P cluster environment are proposed.

  • In this study GIS based pre- and post-processing tool for the Visual MODFLOW that is specific software to model groundwater flow is developed. This tool not only makes input data scientifically but also manages input and output data in terms of the groundwater flow analysis. In addition it can storage project products systematically into Oracle database. The most characteristic figure of this processing tool is to provide the module, which automatically or semi automatically develops various grid cell sizes using GIS ArcView and also produces DXF files reflecting various boundary conditions in the modeling zone. In particular, eminences of this research are to create 3 dimensional hydrogeological structures with 2 dimensional GIS ArcView and to conduct pre- and post- processing along with same topology and data format of the MODFLOW.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the difference and inter-connectivity between the definition of continuity in school mathematics and the definition of academic mathematics in four perspectives. These difference and inter-connectivity have not analyzed in previous papers. According to this study, the definition of 'continuity and discontinuity at one point' in school mathematics depends on the limit processing but in academic mathematics it depends on the topology of the domain. The target function of the continuous function in school mathematics is a function whose domain is limited to an interval or a union of intervals, but the target function of the continuous function in academic mathematics is all functions. Based on these results, the following two opinions are given in relation to the concept of continuity in school mathematics. First, since the notion of local continuity in school mathematics is based on limit processing, the contents of 2009-revised textbooks that deal with discontinuity at special point not belonging to the domain is appropriate. Here the discontinuity appears as types of infinite discontinuity, removable discontinuity, and step discontinuity. Second, the definition of a general continuous function is proposed to "if there is no discontinuity point in the domain of a function y = f(x), we call the function f a continuous function." This definition allows the discontinuity at special point in non-domain, but is consistent with the definition in academic mathematics.

  • This paper proposes new single stage power factor correction (PFC) full bridge converter. The proposed converter is combined previous ZVS full bridge DC/DC converter with two inductors, two diodes, two magnetic coupling transformer for PFC. This process of power is isolated from the source and also regulate stable DC output voltage in a category. In this topology, the voltage stress of main switches is reduced by zero voltage switching. Moreover, the proposed converter doesn't need active PFC switch and auxiliarly circuits, like control and gating board, so it could decrease the size and cost and increase the efficiency.

  • KBANN (knowledge-based artificial neural network) combining the symbolic approach and the numerical approach has been shown to be more effective than other machine learning models. However KBANN doesn't have the theory refinement ability because the topology of network can't be altered dynamically. Although TopGen was proposed to extend the ability of KABNN in this respect, it also had some defects due to the link-ing of hidden nodes to input nodes and the use of beam search. The algorithm which could solve this TopGen's defects, by adding the hidden nodes linked to next layer nodes and using hill-climbing search with backtracking, is designed.

  • Manufacturing of complex surface plates in stern and stem is a major factor in cost of a preliminary ship design by computing process. If these hull plate parts are effectively classified, it helps to compute the processing cost and find the way to cut-down the processing cost. This paper presents a new method to classify surface plates effectively in the preliminary ship design using neural network. A neural-network-based ship hull plate classification program was developed and tested for the automatic classification of ship design. The input variables are regarded as Gaussian curvature distributions on the plate. Various applicable rules of network topology are applied in the ship design. In automation of hull plate classification, two different numbers of input variables are used. By observing the results of the proposed method, the effectiveness of the proposed method is discussed. As a result, high prediction rate was achieved in the ship design. Accordingly, to the initial design stage, the ship hull plate classification program can be used to predict the ship production cost. And the proposed method will contribute to reduce the production cost of ship.

  • Sensor networks have been widely applied for data collection. Due to the energy limitation of the sensor nodes and the most energy consuming data transmission, we should allocate as much work as possible to the sensors, such as data compression and aggregation, to reduce data transmission and save energy. Querying extreme values is a general query type in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a novel querying method called Two-Level Filter (TLF) for querying extreme values in wireless sensor networks. We first divide the whole sensor network into domains using the Distributed Data Aggregation Model (DDAM). The sensor nodes report their data to the cluster heads using push method. The advantages of two-level filter lie in two aspects. When querying extreme values, the number of pull operations has the lower boundary. And the query results are less affected by the topology changes of the wireless sensor network. Through this method, the sensors preprocess the data to share the burden of the base station and it combines push and pull to be more energy efficient.

  • The marine environment is under considerable threat from intentional or accidental oil spills, ballast water discharged, dredging and infilling for coastal development, and uncontrolled sewage and industrial wastewater discharges. Monitoring spills and illegal oil discharges is an important component in ensuring compliance with marine protection legislation and general protection of the coastal environments. For the monitoring task an image processing system is needed that can efficiently perform the detection and the tracking of oil spills and in this direction a significant amount of research work has taken place mainly with the use of radar (SAR) remote sensing data. In this paper the level set image segmentation technique was tested for the detection of oil spills. Level set allow the evolving curve to change topology (break and merge) and therefore boundaries of particularly intricate shapes can be extracted. Experimental results demonstrated that the level set segmentation can be used for the efficient detection and monitoring of oil spills, since the method coped with abrupt shape’s deformations and splits.
