It is not a rare occasion that certain dental procedures involving tooth reduction being peformed under inadequate water cooling due to a variety of reasons. This situation could possibly inflict the critical insult to the pulpal tissue of indicated tooth. The purpose of this experiment was to study the pattern of diffusion of external heat produced during routine dental procedures into the pulpal tissue. 30 stone blocks containing three lower second primary molars were used for certain restorative procedures and the temperature of the indicated tooth surface was measured by thermography(Inframetrics 600) and further used as a baseline data for the finite element analysis model fabrication designed in order to evaluate the pattern of thermal diffusion. The ranges of highest surface temperature measured from several dental procedures under water cooling and non-water cooling were $30.8^{\circ}C{\sim}43.6^{\circ}C$ and $51.2^{\circ}C{\sim}103.4^{\circ}C$ respectively. Among procedures studied, crown preparation showed the highest value and amalgam removal showed the lowest. Comparisons between data measured under water cooling and non-water cooling conditions have shown the statistically significant difference(p<0.05). All the non-cooling conditions have shown the relatively larger increment of temperature change at the pulp horn area than the cooling conditions. The results of this study strongly indicate that the water coolant is the essential element in restorative procedures for the maintenance of healthy pulp. Further related studies involving more procedures and conditions are recommended.
Objective: This study was performed to investigate the labio/buccal clinical crown curvatures of Korean permanent teeth and to obtain the curve-ratio data in an attempt to fabricate bracket bases fit for each individual Korean permanent tooth. Methods: Three-dimensional digital models were made from 30 sets of dental casts with normal anatomic structures. According to the FA points, horizontal and vertical reference planes were established and lines were drawn on the tooth surfaces in reference to these planes. The curvature was expressed as the coefficient of a quadratic equation. Lines mesial, distal, gingival and occlusal to the horizontal, vertical reference planes and the FA point were drawn. Results: The curvature measured for each line revealed that there are no significant differences between male and female, except for maxillary canines and maxillary second bicuspids (p > 0.05). There were notable differences in the mesio-distal or gingivo-occlusal curvatures among the mandibular lateral incisors, maxillary canines, maxillary and mandibular first and second bicuspids and first molars (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The labial & buccal crown curvatures of teeth in Korean normal occlusion were measured on the mesial and distal, gingival and occlusal sides respectively in this study. Based on these data, a SWA can be developed to fit the individual features of Korean tooth crowns.
Purpose: To analyze the ridge profile of the anterior maxilla using cone-beam computed tomography and to assess the clinical significance of the ridge profile by performing virtual implant placement. Methods: Thirty-two cone-beam computed tomography scans of anterior maxillae were included. For each tooth, a vertical line was made along the longitudinal axis, and 3 horizontal lines at 1-, 3-, and 5-mm levels below the labial bone crest were drawn perpendicularly to the vertical reference. At these levels, the thickness of the alveolar ridge (RT), and the labial (LT) and palatal bone plate (PT) were measured. Then, virtual implant placement using standard and tapered implants was performed. A generalized linear mixed model was used for statistical analysis. Results: The teeth were located labially based on the proportion of LT and PT with respect to RT. At the 1-mm level, the value of LT was between $1.0{\pm}0.4mm$ for central incisors and $1.3{\pm}0.6mm$ for canines. A large number of teeth had area(s) with less than 1-mm-thick labial bone between the 1- and 5-mm levels below the crest. The mean PT was generally thicker than the LT in all tooth types. The greatest mean value of labial concavity was observed for canines, compared to other tooth types. Men had a greater RT than did women, but had a comparable LT. Less apical fenestration was observed when tapered implants were used. Conclusions: Most teeth in the anterior maxilla had a thin labial bone plate, with no significant difference between sexes. Tapered implants may be advantageous for the anterior maxilla.

Dementia is an umbrella term that describes the loss of thinking, memory, attention, logical reasoning, and other mental abilities to the extent that it interferes with the activities of daily living. More than 50 million individuals worldwide live with dementia, which is expected to increase to 131 million by 2050. Recent research has shown that poor oral health increases the risk of dementia, while oral health declines with cognitive decline. In this narrative review, the literature was based on the "hypothesis" that dementia and oral health have a close relationship, and appropriate oral health and occlusal rehabilitation treatment can improve the quality of life of patients with dementia and prevent progression. We conducted a literature search in PubMed and Google Scholar databases, using the search terms "dementia," "major neurocognitive disorder," "dentition," "occlusion," "tooth loss," "dental prosthesis," "dental implant," and "occlusal rehabilitation" in the title field over the past 30 years. A total of 131 studies that scientifically addressed dementia, oral health, and/or oral rehabilitation were included. In a meta-analysis, the random effect model demonstrated significant tooth loss increasing the dementia risk 3.64-fold (pooled odds ratio=3.64, 95% confidence interval [2.50~5.32], P-value=0.0348). Tooth loss can be an important indicator of cognitive function decline. As the number of missing teeth increases, the risk of dementia increases. Loss of teeth can lead to a decrease in the ascending information to the brain and reduced masticatory ability, cerebral blood flow, and psychological atrophy. Oral microbiome dysbiosis and migration of key bacterial species to the brain can also cause dementia. Additionally, inflammation in the oral cavity affects the inflammatory response of the brain and the complete body. Conversely, proper oral hygiene management, the placement of dental implants or prostheses to replace lost teeth, and the restoration of masticatory function can inhibit symptom progression in patients with dementia. Therefore, improving oral health can prevent dementia progression and improve the quality of life of patients.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine how the mesio-distal angulation and the length of each tooth changes on panoramic radiograph at different bucco-lingual inclinations. Methods: After constructing an acrylic model based on the mean arch of 30 adults with normal occlusion, the wire was placed in the center of the teeth on the acrylic model. First, the wire was implanted in normal angulation and inclination and a panoramic radiograph taken. After changing the inclination from $I-5^{\circ}\;to\;I+15^{\circ}\;by\;5^{\circ}$, a panoramic radiograph was taken again and the mesio-distal angle and wire length on the panoramic radiograph were assessed. Results: When the wire was implanted at the normal angulation and inclination, the length measured in the panoramic radiograph was magnified $111{\sim}117%$ from the original length in the anterior region and $121{\sim}125%$ in the posterior region. Only the central and lateral incisors showed significant length differences when the inclination was changed from $l-15^{\circ}\;to\;I+15^{\circ}$ at fixed angulation. When the inclination was changed from $l-15^{\circ}\;to\;I+15^{\circ}$, the angulation of most teeth on panoramic radiograph appeared to be more disto-angulated than in reality, and the lateral incisor and canine showed the largest difference. Only $l-15^{\circ}\;to\;I+15^{\circ}$ groups of premolars and $I+15^{\circ}$ group of molars showed more mesio-angulation than in reality. As the labio(bucco)lingual inclination of all teeth were decreased, tooth angulation in the panoramic radiograph appeared to be more disto-angulated. Conclusion: The labio-liugual inclination of teeth should be considered because it affects panoramic image of teeth, such as length of incisors and angulation of other teeth.

The purpose of this study was to estimate the morphology and the size of permanent maxillary molar in Korean Adult. The 100 dental college students with a normal dentition and without any dental prosthesis and severe caries were selected for this study. The subjects were taken impression to make study model. On the study model, authour three times measured those sizes and estimated morphological structures with a calipers, a Boley gauge and a protractor. The results were as follows; 1. In the maxilary first molar's clinical crown height, mesiolingual cusp height was 6.34mm, mesiobuccal cusp height was 6.05mm, distobuccal cusp height was 5.20mm. And in the maxillary second molar's clinical crown height, mesiobuccal cusp height was 5.85mm, mesiolingual cusp height was 5.71mm, distobuccal cusp height was 5.51mm, distolingual cusp height was 3.53mm. This result considered that the maxillary first molar inclined to distobuccal, and the maxillary second molar more upright than the maxillary first molar. 2. In the width of clinical crown, the maxillary first molar was 10.43mm, the maxillary second molar was 10.20mm, and the difference between the first molar's width and the second molar's width was 0.23mm. 3. The crown thickness was measured divided into mesial buccolingual half and distal buccolingual half. The mesial buccolingual half was 11.14mm, and distal buccolingual half was 10.35mm in the maxillary first molar, and in the maxilary second molar, mesial buccolingual half was 11.25mm, and distal buccolingual half was 9.72mm. This result considered that height of convergency located in mesial half of crown. 4. In the buccal groove length, total length and ratio, the maxillary first molar was 52.5%, the maxillary second molar was 50%. And the development of buccal groove in the maxillary first molar was 59% in case of the well developed buccal groove and 41% in case of the weak developed one. And frequency of buccal pit of the maxillary first molar was 12.5%. Whereas, the frequency of buccal of the well developed buccal groove in the maxillary second molar was 37% and that of the weak developed one was 63%. And frequency of buccal pit of the maxillary second molar was not seen. 5. The 3 cusp type tooth cannot be found in the maxillary first molar and the frequency of 3 cusp type tooth in the maxillary second molar was as small as 6% 6. In the case of 4 cusp type tooth, the size of distal lingual cusp molar was difference between in the maxillary first molar and in the maxillary second molar by about 1mm. 7. The intercuspal distance was similar in the maxillary first premolar and second molar. And intercuspal distanc of mesial half of the maxillary first molar and the maxillary second molar was silmillar, too. 8. The an measurement of occlusal surface in 4 cusp type tooth showed that the angle of occlusal surface between the distobuccal and mesiolingual was an obtuse angle, and the angle of occlusal surface between mesiobuccal and distolingual was an acute angle in the both cases of maxillary first and second molar. 9. The measurements of the development of Carabelli cusp showed that the frequency of the well developed one was 7% and that of the weak developed one was 56% in the maxillary first molar. And there cannot be found the well developed one and can be found 2.5% only in the case of the weak developed one in the maxillary second molar. 10. The well developed oblique ridge in the maxillary first molar showed the 100% frequency and that in the maxillary second molar showed the 85.5% frequency. The frequency of mesiomarginal ridge tubercle in the maxillary first molar was 82% and that in the maxillary second molar was 30.5%. And the frequency of distal accessory tubercle in the maxillary first molar can be seen about 19% and that in the maxillary second molar can be seen about 12%.
The most scientific and reliable method for deciding the tooth color is the instrumental measurement. However, such color measuring instrument shows the difference of the measuring value according to the diversified measuring condition. This study was conducted to evaluate what effect of the labial surface irregularity of the tooth to the result of the color measured by spectrometer. 11 models of the teeth were made by injecting the A2 shade Luxatemp Automix Plus (DMG, Germany) into the impression acquired from 11 adults. Standard disk samples (15 mm diameter, 7 mm thickness) were made with same material. CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ value was measured at the incisal, central, and gingival area of the central incisor, lateral incisor, canine and first premolar using Specbos 2100 (JETI, Germany) spectrometer. Color difference was calculated between labial surface and standard samples. Among all models of the teeth, $L^*\;and\;b^*$ value showed the reducing tendency as they go toward the gingival area, but $a^*$ value showed the increasing tendency. Color difference between model teeth and standard samples showed the most difference at the incisal area, but the gingival area showed the least difference. And the canine showed the least color difference from the comparison of standard sample, and the central incisor showed the highest difference (p < 0.01). Although the visually detectable difference of the measuring value showed notably depending on the type and measured area (p < 0.05), $L^*\;and\;a^*$ value showed notable differences depending more on the measured areas than on the type of the teeth.

The purposes of this study were to investigate the factors affection the Oral Impacts on Daily Performances for Children (C-OIDP) in elementary and middle school students, and identify the association between oral health-related behaviors, oral health condition and C-OIDP. A cross-sectional study was conducted in three schools in Incheon, Asan, Korea. A total of 175 selected children were interviewed by a trained examiner using a questionnaire. Oral Health Related Quality of Life was assessed by the Korean version of C-OIDP. Socio-economic characteristics, oral health-related behaviors, oral health condition and C-OIDP were verified using the questionnaire. ANOVA analysis was performed to determine the oral health and C-OIDP, and multiple regression analysis was performed to determine the factors affecting the C-OIDP. The activities with the greatest effect were eating (28.0%), cleaning teeth (22.9%), and smiling (18.9%). In the logistic regression model, the high item score of C-OIDP was associated with experiencing dental caries and gum pain in the past month. The more the C-OIDP prevalence item, the more the fillng deciduous tooth surface (fs) (p=0.024), caries experienced deciduous tooth surface (dfs) (p=0.049), total caries tooth surface (ds+DS) (p=0.021), and total caries experienced tooth surface (dfs+DMFS) (p=0.047). It can be concluded that the factors affecting C-OIDP are fs, dfs, dfs+DMFS, and gingival pain. Based on these results, we can improve C-OIDP to advance preventive practice.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of rigidity of post core systems on stress distribution by the theoretical technique, finite element stress-analysis method. Three-dimensional finite element models simulating an endodontically treated maxillary central incisor restored with a zirconia ceramic crown were prepared and 1.5 mm ferrule height was provided. Each model contained cortical bone, trabecular bone, periodontal ligament, 4 mm apical root canal filling, and post-and-core. Six combinations of three parallel type post (zirconia ceramic, glass fiber, and stainless steel) and two core (Paracore and Tetric ceram) materials were evaluated, respectively. A 50 N static occlusal load was applied to the palatal surface of the crown with a $60^{\circ}$angle to the long axis of the tooth. The differences in stress transfer characteristics of the models were analyzed. von Mises stresses were chosen for presentation of results and maximum displacement and hydrostatic pressure were also calculated. An increase of the elastic modulus of the post material increased the stress, but shifted the maximum stress location from the dentin surface to the post material. Buccal side of cervical region (junction of core and crown) of the glass fiber post restored tooth was subjected to the highest stress concentration. Maximum von Mises stress in the remaining radicular tooth structure for low elastic modulus resin core (29.21 MPa) was slightly higher than that for high elastic modulus resin core (29.14 MPa) in case of glass fiber post. Maximum displacement of glass fiber post restored tooth was higher than that of zirconia ceramic or stainless steel post restored tooth.
The purpose of this study was to qunatatively analyze the stress patterns induced in the abutment, superstructure, supporting bone and to determine the deflection of abutment and superstructure by appling occlusal force to natural teeth supported fixed prostheses and implant-supported fixed prostheses. The analysis has been conducted by using the two dimensional finite element method. The implant and natural tooth-supported bridge has a first molar pontic supported by mandibular second bicuspid and implant posterior retainer, which were rigidly(Model A) or flexible(Model B). The natural teeth-supported bridge has a first molar pontic supported by mandibular second bicuspid and second molar, which were rigidly splinted together(Model C). 63.5kg(Load P1) of localized load on central fossa of first molar pontic and 24kg(Load P2) of distributed load on each occlusal surface were applied respectively. 1. The coronal portion of premolar pontic and posterior abutment in fixed partial denture deflected inferiorly in order of Model B, Model C and Model A under Load P1 and Load P2. 2. Mesial displacement of the coronal portion of premolar showed in Model A, Model B and Model C under Load P1, but mesial displacement of that in Model B and distal displacement of that in Model A and Model C showed under Load P2. 3. Mesial displacement of the coronal portion of the pontic and distal displacement of the coronal portion of posterior abutment showed in Model A, Model B and Model C under Load P1 and Load P2. Displacement in the case of Model B was greater than that of Model A and Model C. 4. In the case Model A under Load P1 and Load P2, high stress apically was concentrated in the mesiocervical portion of the posterior abutment than in the disto-cervical portion of the premolar. 5. In the case of Model B under Load P1 and Load P2 high stress was concentrated in the case of the premolar than in that of posterior abutment and high stress especially was concentrated in the connected portion of pontic and posterior abutment. 6. In the case of Model C under Load P1 and Load P2, high stress was concentrated in the distal area of the cornal portion of premolar and the mesial area of the coronal portion of posterior abutment, and stress pattern was anteroposterially symmetric around the pontic. 7. Load P1 and Load P2 compared, stress magnitude was different but stress pattern was similar in Model A, Model B and Model C. 8. Under Load P1 and P2, stress magnitude in the mesial distal portion and the portion of root apex of the posterior abutment was in order of Model B, Model A and Model C.

제 5 장 계약 해지 및 이용 제한
제 15 조 (계약 해지)
회원이 이용계약을 해지하고자 하는 때에는 [가입해지] 메뉴를 이용해 직접 해지해야 합니다.
제 16 조 (서비스 이용제한)
① 당 사이트는 회원이 서비스 이용내용에 있어서 본 약관 제 11조 내용을 위반하거나, 다음 각 호에 해당하는
경우 서비스 이용을 제한할 수 있습니다.
- 2년 이상 서비스를 이용한 적이 없는 경우
- 기타 정상적인 서비스 운영에 방해가 될 경우
② 상기 이용제한 규정에 따라 서비스를 이용하는 회원에게 서비스 이용에 대하여 별도 공지 없이 서비스 이용의
일시정지, 이용계약 해지 할 수 있습니다.
제 17 조 (전자우편주소 수집 금지)
회원은 전자우편주소 추출기 등을 이용하여 전자우편주소를 수집 또는 제3자에게 제공할 수 없습니다.
제 6 장 손해배상 및 기타사항
제 18 조 (손해배상)
당 사이트는 무료로 제공되는 서비스와 관련하여 회원에게 어떠한 손해가 발생하더라도 당 사이트가 고의 또는 과실로 인한 손해발생을 제외하고는 이에 대하여 책임을 부담하지 아니합니다.
제 19 조 (관할 법원)
서비스 이용으로 발생한 분쟁에 대해 소송이 제기되는 경우 민사 소송법상의 관할 법원에 제기합니다.
[부 칙]
1. (시행일) 이 약관은 2016년 9월 5일부터 적용되며, 종전 약관은 본 약관으로 대체되며, 개정된 약관의 적용일 이전 가입자도 개정된 약관의 적용을 받습니다.
