Knowledge-based synthesis system for injection molding (사출성형 제품의 지식형 설계시스템 연구)

  • The design and manufacture of injection molded polymeic parts with desired mechanical properties is a costly process dominated by empiricism, including the modification of actual tooling. This paper presents an interactive computer-based design system for injection molded plastic parts. This knowledge-based synthesis system provides a rational design strategy for injection molding and molded parts. It synergistically combines a rule-based expert system for hurestic knowledge with analytical process simulation programs. The theremomechanical properties of a molded part such as the effect of molecular orientation and weldline strength are predicted by the analysis programs; while the expert system interprets the analytical results from the process simulation, evaluates the design, and generates recommendations for optimal design alternatives. The heuristic knowledge of injection molding is formalized as production rules of the expert consultation system.

Study of a Forging Process for the Application of Boron Steel for Automotive Wheel Nut Material (차량용 Wheel Nut 소재의 보론강적용을 위한 단조공정에 관한 연구)

  • Boron steel (51B20) was cold forged using by new designed dies to apply for automotive aluminum wheel nut. The formability and mechanical properties of boron steel were compared with carbon steel(S45C) which has been used up to date for the wheel nut material. The formability was investigated on the dies designed with various types of punch nose using by FEM. The metal flow and compressive stress on the dies during cold forging were investigated and compared each other. The forging process with a new designed die showed the improved metal flow with a reduced forging load which resulted in the significant increase of the die life. It was recommended that the carbon steel for automotive wheel nut material could be substituted by the boron steel.

화학기계적 연마 가공에서의 윤활 특성 해석

  • Chemical-Mechanical Polishing (CMP) refers to a material removal process done by rubbing a work piece against a polishing pad under load in the presence of chemically active, abrasive containing slurry. CMP process is a combination of chemical dissolution and mechanical action. The mechanical action of CMP involves tribology. The liquid slurry is trapped between the wafer(work piece) and pad(tooling) forming a lubricating film. For the first step to understand material removal rate of the CMP process, the lubricational analyses were done with commercial 100mm diameter silicon wafers to get nominal clearance of the slurry film, roll and pitch angle at the steady state. For this purpose, we calculate slurry pressure, resultant forces and moments at the steady state in the range of typical industrial polishing conditions.

  • This paper presents a preform design method that combines the analytic method and inference of known knowledge with neural network. The analytic method is a finite element method that is used to simulate backward extrusion with pre-defined process parameters. The multi-layer network and back-propagation algorithm are utilized to learn the training examples from the simulation results. The design procedures are utilized to learn the training examples from the simulation results. The design procedures are two methods the first the neural network infer the deformed shape from the pre-defined processes parameters. The other the network infer the processes parameters from deformed shape. Especially the latest method is very useful to design the preform From the desired feature it is possible to determine the processes parameters such as friction stroke and tooling geometry. The proposed method is useful for shop floor to decide the processes parameters and preform shapes for producing sound product.

  • Milling fixture is one kind of machining device according to the industrial demands for multi manufacturing products on the growing at alarming rate. In the field of design and making for machine tool working, welding, assembling with fixture for mass production is a specific division. In order to prevent the production defects, occurring, the optimum design of product, fixture putting in the field is very significant manufacturing method. They require analysis of many kinds of important factors, theory and practice of machine tool operating process and its situations, fixture and its structure, machining condition for tool making tool materials, heat treatment of fixture components, know-how and so on. In this study we designed and constructed a milling fixture of mass production and performed tryout under the AUTO CAD, database, I-DEAS and WINDOW environment. Especially part 1 of this study is reveals with the analysis of part drawing, fixture planning, fixture design etc.

  • A neural network method is applied for recognizing the orientation o f individual parts being fed from a bowl feeder. The system is designed in such a way that a part can be discriminated and sorting according to every possible stable orientation without implementing any a mechanical tooling. The operation of the bowl feeder is based on a 2D image obtained from an array of fiber optic sensor located on the feeder track. The acquired binary image of a moving and vibrating part is used as input to a neural network which, in turn, determines t he orientation of the part. The main task of the neural network, here is to synthesize the appropriate internal discriminant functions for the part orientation using the part features. A series of the experiments reveals several promising points on performance. Since the operation of the feeder is highly programmable, it is well suited for feeding and sorting small parts prior to small batch assembly work.

  • W3C has developed the RDF standard for utilizing ontology in Web applications. This paper presents extracting, storing, and applying ontology on product data. The design and tooling information included in STEP-NC files is focused as an example. By analyzing the relationship among the product data, the RDF schema is designed first. Based on the schema ontology if extracted and stored in XML files. As an application of the stored ontology, we can reconfigure the sitemap of product data repositories. In this example, the users can select the view that he or she is interested in (e.g. product, tool, person). With such various views of an product data repository, the users can access the specific data more effectively.

  • Authors had analyzed the Press machine's vibrational characteristics by Substructure Synthesis Method. This paper discribes the structural Dynamic Optimization for the machine using Sensitive Analysis Method. The substructure synthesis method and sensitive analysis methods are used for the vibration analysis and structural modification. The results obtained are as follows ; 1. The tooling precision of the press machine is ruled by the bending vibration of the slide. 2. The structural Modification Method for minimizing impact responses is proposed, and modal analysis and sensitive analysis method are introduced to solve it. 3. The impact responses of running machine were reduced to 40% of the unmodified machine by using the proposed method.

  • This paper is discussing the Optimum Structural Modification by the Sensitive Analysis Method. The mokificxation for the first Mouth Open Mode of the C type structure was done by using coordinate sensitivities and thickness sensitivities. The results obtained are as follows; 1. the vibration could be minimized by reducing multiples of mode components of impact point and response point. 2. the tooling precision of the Press machine could be minimized by reducing relative vibration amplititutes between the tool and the object to be tooled. 3. the mode componets of 2 points could be identified by using the coordinate sensitivites for the C type structure. 4. the mode components of 2 points could be iodentified by using the thickness sensitivities for the C type structure.
