Five-axis finishing tool path generation for a mesh blade based on linear morphing cone

  • Blisk is an essential component in aero engines. To maintain good aero-dynamic performance, one critical machining requirement for blades on blisk is that the generated five-axis tool path should be boundary-conformed. For a blade discretely modeled as a point cloud or mesh, most existing popular tool path generation methods are unable to meet this requirement. To address this issue, a novel five-axis tool path generation method for a discretized blade on blisk is presented in this paper. An idea called Linear Morphing Cone (LMC) is first proposed, which sets the boundary of the blade as the constraint. Based on this LMC, a CC curve generation and expansion method is then proposed with the specified machining accuracy upheld. Using the proposed tool path generation method, experiments on discretized blades are carried out, whose results show that the generated tool paths are both uniform and boundary-conformed.

삼각함수 단원의 수행평가 도구 개발 및 적용 (The Development of a Tool and Its Application to High Schools for the Assessment in Trigonometry)

  • 고등학교 수학내용에서 학생들이 가장 어려워하는 삼각함수단원을 중심으로 수행평가 도구를 개발하고 이를 현장에 적용하여 효과를 파악하고자 하였다. 평가도구는 Bloom의 인지적 영역을 중심으로 총 12개의 문항으로 구성되었으며 이에 대한 채점 기준표가 구성되었다. 개발된 도구의 적용성을 알기위해 문항에 대한 양호도검사와 다양한 영역에서 성취도 검사가 고등학생, 208명을 대상으로 2003학년 11월 중에 조사되었다. 양호도 검사에서는 본 평가도구가 우수한 것으로 나타났으며, 성취도 검사에서는 남학생이 여학생보다, 과학고 학생이 일반고 학생보다 우수하게 나타났으며, 지역별의 차이는 나타나지 않았다.

  • SKD11(ASTM D2) tool steel is a versatile high-carbon, high-chromium, air-hardening tool steel that is characterized by a relatively high attainable hardness and numerous, large, chromium rich alloy carbide in the microstructure. SKD11 tool steel provides an effective combination of wear resistance and toughness, tool performance, price, and a wide variety of product forms. Adding of CNTs increased the performance of mechanical properties more. 1, 3 vol.% CNTs was dispersed in SKD11 matrix by mechanical alloying. SKD11 carbon nanocomposite powder was sintered by spark plasma sintering process. FE-SEM, HR-TEM and Raman analysis were carried out SKD11 carbon nanocomposites.

100,000 RPM급으로 회전하는 에어공구에서의 저토오크 측정에 관한연구 (Study on measuring the low torque on an air tool operating at 100,000 RPM class)

  • An experiment is conducted for measuring the performance of an air tool, which is operated at 100,000 RPM at the unloaded state with the low torque. An experimental apparatus is developed as the power absorption type dynamometer. Inlet static pressure, flow rate, RPM and force are measured simultaneously. Torque, output power and specific output power are obtained. Those experimental results are compared with the experimental results obtained on a commercial dynamometer. However, no commercial dynamometers are available for measuring the torque above 30,000RPM. In order to use the commercial dynamometer, a reduction gear is applied to the shaft of dynamometer. Torque and power obtained on the commercial dynamometer show 50% lower than those obtained on a power absorption type dynamometer, because the inertia force is added to the air tool rotor for the braking system. Moreover, the starting RPM on the commercial dynamometer is less than 40,000RPM. From the compared results, they show that the power absorption type dynamometer should be applied for measuring the performance of an air tool operating at low torque and high RPM.

Cutting Performance of Si$_3$N$_4$ Based SiC Ceramic Cutting Tools

  • Composites of Si$_3$N$_4$-SiC containing up to 30 wt% of dispersed SiC particles were fabricated via hot-pressing with an oxynitride glass. To determine the effect of sintering time and SiC content on the mechanical properties and the cutting performance, the composites with fixed 8hr-sintering time and 20 wt% SiC content were fabricated and tested. Fracture toughness of the composites increased with increasing sintering time, while the hardness increased as the SiC content increased up to 20 wt%. The hardness of the composites was relatively independent of the grain size and the sintered density. For machining heat-treated AISI4140, the insert with 20 wt% SiC sintered for 8hr showed the longest tool life while the insert with 20 wt% SiC sintered for 12hr showed the longest tool life for machining gray cast iron. An effort was made to relate the mechanical properties, such as hardness, fracture toughness and wear resistance coefficient with the tool life. However, no apparent relationship was found between them. It may be stated that tool life is affected by not only the mechanical properties but also other properties such as surface roughness, density, grian size and the number of the inherent defects in the inserts.

리니어 모터를 이용한 척킹 컴플라이언스 보상 (Chucking Compliance Compensation by Using Linear Motor)

  • This paper introduces a compensating system for machining error, which is resulted from chucking with separated jaws. In machining the chucked cylindrical workpiece, the deterioration of machining accuracy, such as out-of-roundness is inevitable due to the variation of the radial compliance of the chuck workpiece system which is caused by the position of jaws with respect to the direction of the applied force. To compensate the chucking compliance induced error, firstly roundness profile of workpiece due to chucking compliance after machining needs to be predicted. Then using this predicted profile, the compensated tool feed trajectory can be generated. And by synchronizing the cutting tool feed system with workpiece rotation, the chucking compliance induced error can be compensated. To satisfy the condition that the cutting tool feed system must provide high speed and high position accuracy, brushless linear DC motor is used. In this study, firstly through the force-deflection experiment in workpiece chucked lathe, the variation of radial compliance of chuck workpiece system is obtained. Secondly using the mathematical equation and cutting experiment result, the predicted profile of workpiece and its compensation tool trajectory are generated. Thirdly the configuration of compensation system using linear motor is introduced, and to improve the system performance, PID controller is designed. Finally the tracking performance of system is examined by experiment. Through the real cutting experiment, roundness is significantly improved.

LCD 패널 압착장비의 고온압착성능 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of High Temperature Bonding Performance of LCD Panel Bonding Equipment)

  • The bonding process of LCD panel is attaching an inner lead to an outer lead in the production line of LCD panel module. It is composed of an OLB process and a PCB bonding process. Since bonding tool assembly is one of the core parts of the bonding equipment that determines the durability and performance of the final product, much design efforts to enhance uniformity and efficiency of the process have been made. In this paper, FE analyses have been employed to determine the bonding tool size. Bonding tool of long bar shape has been simplified as a piece with same heater pitch, and appropriate boundary conditions such as convection and radiation are considered. Thermal analysis results by the FEM have been validated by the experiments. With the use of FE analysis varies design parameters and the corresponding effects have been evaluated. It was observed that the approach presented in this paper could be employed for the design of LCD module bonding tool.

병원 위탁급식 품질관리를 위한 품질평가도구 개발 (The Development of a Quality Measurement Tool for a Contract-Managed Hospital Foodservice)

  • The purposes of this study were: a) to develop the a quality measurement tool for the contract-managed hospital foodservice, and b) to evaluate their performance with the developed quality measurement tool, and c) to verify the reliability and validity of the quality measurement tool. The developed quality measurement tool comprised two parts, which were foodservice management and medical nutrition care service. The foodservice management part was classified into six functional categories which were Menu, Procurement and Storage, Production and Distribution, Facility and Utility, Sanitation and Safety, and Management and Evaluation. The medical nutrition care service part indicated the medical nutrition care provided. Quality measurement tool had 91 standards and 324 indicators. The quality measurement tools were distributed to the hospital foodservice manager employed by the foodservice company. The 324 indicators were measured by foodservice manager on the 5-Likert-type scales, and then adapted to a 100 point scale. The SPSS Ver. 11.0 was used for statistical analysis. The categories whose scores were evaluated as being high were Procurement', General Sanitation', Personal sanitation' and Waste' and the categories whose scores were evaluated as being low were Diet Order Manual', Standard Recipe', Appropriateness (Facility and Utility)', Check (Facility and Utility)'and Information Management'. All the categories of medical nutrition service were evaluated as having seriously low scores. Therefore, it was necessary for the contract-managed hospital foodservice to improve its performance in the area of medical nutrition care service. For the verification of the developed quality measurement tool, the reliability obtained by calculating Cronbach's α was 0.8747, and the content validity was also proved by scrutiny of the modification of the Professional group's techniques. PSCAD/EMTDC를 이용한 MW급 ESS용 성능평가설비 모델링 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Modeling Method of Performance Evaluation System for MW Scaled Energy Storage System Using the PSCAD/EMTDC)

  • The energy storage system(ESS) is a core component for exchanging the power system structure of the unidirectional power flow into a bidirectional structure. Its important role has been increasing because it has multiple functions such as output stabilization of new renewable energy, demand management, frequency regulation, etc. However, the performance evaluation technology of ESS in korea is lower than one of advanced countries and the recognition of standardization is also lack compared to advanced countries. Furthermore, in order to more accurately and reliably validate the performance of the ESS in advanced countries, it has been required to perform not only performance testing by H/W devices but also performance verification by S/W tool. Therefore, in order to verify the performance testing of ESS by S/W tool, this paper proposes the modeling method of performance testing devices for MW scaled ESS by using the PSCAD/EMTDC S/W, based on real testing devices in domestic institute. From the simulation results of proposed modeling method, it is confirmed that the proposed modeling method is a useful tool for performance validation of ESS.

FMS에서 공구 상태를 고려한 부품투입 방법 (A Part Release considering Status of Tool in FMS)

  • A recent trend in flexible manufacturing systems(FMS) is to compose of the identical versatile-machines and to use dynamic tool allocation strategy, sharing tools between machines with fast tool delivery system. Unlike a conventional FMS where parts are fed to the machines with the required tools, tools are acquired from other machines using a tool delivery system and parts can be finished on the same machine in these FMS. Therefore it is more important problem to plan tool flow using tool delivery system in these FMS rather than part flow in conventional FMS. According to existing study, in FMS 20~30 percent of the total management cost is the cost related with tools and it is possible to reduce the tool inventory by 40 percent using efficient tool allocation. In this study, in FMS under dynamic tool allocation strategy, a new method of part release considering tool flow at the stage of part release is proposed. In order to prove the efficiency of the proposed part release it is compared with other part release through simulation experiments. Performance measures in these experiments are the throughput and the number of tardy parts.
