Design of an Algorithm to Simulate Surface Roughness in a Turning for an Integrated Machining Simulation System (통합절삭 시뮬레이션 시스템용 선삭표면조도 시뮬레이션 알고리즘의 설계)

  • The fundamental issues to evaluate machine tools performance through simulation pertain to the physical models of the machine tool itself and of process while the practical problems are related to the development of the modular software structure. It allows the composition of arbitrary machine/process models along with the development of programs to evaluate each state of machining process. Surface roughness is one of the fundamental factors to evaluate machining process and performance of machine tool, but it is not easy to evaluate surface roughness due to its tribological complexity. This paper presents an algorithm to calculate surface roughness considering cutting geometry, cutting parameters, and contact dynamics of cutting between tool and workpiece as well as tool wear in turning process. This proposed algorithm could be used in the designed virtual machining system. The system can be used to evaluate the surface integrity of a turned surface during the design and process planning phase for the design for manufacturability analysis of the concurrent engineering.

  • The urban transit system is operated by driverless and automatic.In driverless and automatic system, the system function is accomplished exactly to obtain the safety and reliability of system and the system is designed to minimize risk. In order to design the system, the functional analysis is performed. Recently functional analysis is performed by design toolwhich is used and verified by aerospace, military, etc. Generally, the design tool is used to perform functional analysis in urban transit system development project. The design toolassist the system engineer to analysis the function of system in basic design. Therefore, In this paper, it is performed the functional analysis to satisfy the system requirement of urban transit system and to confirm the operation of system using design tool.

  • The characteristics of the track are important concerning the mobility of tracked vehicles. It can be represented in terms of the track tension and maintaining the track tension adequately guarantees the stable and improved driving of the tracked vehicles. The track tension must be known in order to be controlled and it needs to be estimated in real-time because it is difficult to be measured. The tension around idler and sprocket can be controlled by the frizzy logic control system base on the estimated values. Dynamic Track Tensioning System(DTTS) which is estimating and controlling the track tension. In this paper, simulation tool is developed in order to apply the DTTS to real battle tanks. To construct the simulation tool, the Modeling the tracked vehicle, constructing estimation system, and designing controller should be achieved first and then all subsystem should be organized in one. The simulation tool make the RecurDyn model of tracked vehicle, which is plant model, and the control system exchange their data simultaneously. Simulation with many kinds of driving conditions and road conditions is carried out and the results are interpreted. The interpretation provides necessary information to apply the DTTS to real battle tanks.

  • The reduction of tool vibration has been a serious issue for both employers and workers because of the risks of vibration transmitted to the workers. In this study a hand-arm vibration measurement and evaluation system was developed based on ISO 5349:2001 and used for analyzing relation of vibration level and components of tools. This system consists of a notebook PC installed a LabVIEW program and the data acquisition system including two 3-axial accelerometers and a NI-DAQ card. Vibration measurement tests were conducted for eight angle grinders and four impact wrenches where 3 subjects were used for each of the tools. The relation between different components of each tool and its vibration total value made it possible to set-up a guideline of tool design. In the past engineers developed tools by using their experience and intuition, but by using this system it became possible to design tool components so as to minimize the risks of hand-transmitted vibration.

  • In highly automated machining centers, intelligent sensor fddeback systems are indispensable on order to monitor their operations, to ensure efficient metal removal, and to initate remedial action in the event of accident. In this study, an on-line tool wear detection system for thrning operations is developed, and experimentally evaluated. The system employs multiple sensors and the signals from these sensors are processed using a multichannel autoegressive (AR) series model. The resulting output from the signal processing block is then fed to a previously tranied artificial neural network (multiayered perceptron) to make a final decision on the state of the cutting tool. To learn the necessary input/output mapping for tool wear detection, the weithts and thresholds of the network are adjusted according to the back propagation (BP) method during off-line training. The results of experimental evaluation show that the system works well over a wide range of cutting conditions, and the ability of the system to detect tool wear is improved due to the generalization, fault-tolearant and self-ofganizing properties of the neural network.

  • Diverse researches are working moving objects. The most important activities in a moving object database system are query and analysis of spatio -temporal data providing decision-making and problem solving support. Traditional spatial database query language and tools are inappropriate of the real world entities. This paper presents a spatio-temporal query and analysis tool with visual environment. It provides effective, interactive and user-friendly as well as statistic analysis. The moving objects database system stores plentiful moving objects data and performs spatio-temporal and nonspatio-temporal queries.

  • In FMS where tool movement policy is adopted, a mathematical model has been developed which determines the selection of a tool type for each operation and tool loading-part assignment simultaneouly. The objective is to minimize the total cost of operation including machining time cost, tool cost, tool replacement and loading time cost, and tool change time cost. Due to the complexity of the problem, an approximate solution procedure has been developed utilizing the special structure of the model. Tool selection was determined first to allocate one tool type to each operation considering more than one tool type alternatives for each operation. Tool loading-part assignment was determined to minimize tile total number of tool changes due to part mix based on the tool selection.

  • It is the concept of this paper to build up the convergence type of the total class service system, and the goal is to develop the education services, which are differentiated from existing digital textbooks and development tools. We establish developmental programs and convergence strategies from market analyses related to apps and digital education. Then this paper proposes 'E-Class Author Service System (ECA)' as an education service system based on the tablet PC. It is the convergence system of the app type of textbook development tool and class management system. Teachers can produce and develop class materials and textbooks using the app type of textbook development tool in ECA service system. They can also add necessary functions from the class management system for efficient class progress. ECA improves the interaction and communication between a teacher, student and parents in the sever-based network. This study expects that ECA will achieve prior occupation of the app market as an educational app development tool and reduce private education expenses.

  • In this paper, finite element method was used for flow and strength analysis of AZ31 magnesium alloy under friction stir welding. The simulations were carried out by SYSWELD s/w, and the modeling of sheet was doned by unigraphics NX3 s/w. Welding variables for analysis were rotating speed and welding speed of tool. Also two-way factorial design method was applied to confirm the effect of welding variables on maximum temperature and stress of material used. From these results, the increaser welding speed of tool the decreaser maximum temperature, but the increaser maximum stress. Also the increaser rotating speed of tool the increaser maximum temperature, but the decreaser maximum stress. In addition the increaser welding speed of tool and the decreaser rotating speed of tool, the narrower heat effect zone. Finally rotating speed of tool influenced on maximum temperature more than welding speed of tool, and welding speed of tool influenced on maximum stress more than rotating speed of tool from the variance analysis.
