  • Recently high dynamic range imaging technique is hot issue in computer graphic area. We present a progressive tone mapping algorithm, which is based on weighted least squares optimization framework. Our approach combines weighted least squares filtering with iCAM06 model. To show more perceptual high dynamic range images in conventional display, we decompose high dynamic range image into base layers and detail layers. The base layers are obtained by using weighted least squares filter. Then, we adopt chromatic adaption function and non-linear compression function to deal with base layers. Only the base layers reduce contrast, and preserving detail. The image quality assessment shows that our tone mapped image is more similar to original high dynamic range image. Moreover, the subjective result shows our algorithm produces more reliable and pleasing image.

  • In order to measure the parameters of consumers' preferred image quality, this research suggests image quality assessment factors; dynamic range, color, and contrast. They have both physical image quality factors and psychological characteristics from the previous researches. We found out the specific ranges of preferred image quality metrics. As a result, Digital Zone System meant for dynamic range generally shows 6~10 stop ranges in portrait, nightscape, and landscape. Total RGB mean values represent in portrait (67.2~215.2), nightscape (46~142), and landscape (52~185). Portrait total RGB averages have the widest range, landscape, and nightscape, respectively. Total scene contrast ranges show in portrait (196~589), nightscape (131~575), and landscape (104~767). Especially in portrait, skin tone RGB mean values are in ZONE V as the exposure standard, but practically image consumers' preferred skin tone level is in ZONE IV. Also, total scene versus main subject contrast ratio represents 1:1.2; therefore, we conclude that image consumers prefer the out-of-focus effect in portrait. Throughout this research, we can measure the preferred image quality metrics ranges. Also, we expect the practical and specific dynamic range, color, and contrast information of preferred image quality to positively influence product development.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the functional (mobility, self-care, social ability) and health-related quality of life in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Methods: A cross- sectional survey of 202 children with CP, mean age $5.91{\pm}1.57$ years, was carried out using the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM), Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI), and Child Health Questionnaire (CHQ). Results: The functional assessment of children with CP showed that a more severe GMFCS level was associated with lower functional abilities (p<0.05). The health-related quality of life assessment showed that psychosocial well-being was less impaired than physical well-being. The internal consistency of the three instruments was satisfactory (cronbach's ${\alpha}$>0.80). The three different scales were correlated from moderate to strong (r=0.44 to 0.92). It was also found that mobility, tone distribution, and the parents' education level exerted a significant effect on the quality of life of children with CP (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that children with CP have reduced function and quality of life and these are influenced by various factors. However, planning and application of various task-oriented functional interventions to childhood CP may be useful.

  • The purpose of this study is on the dance costume of ancient Egypt. First, after the present study looked onto a specialty of Egyptian dance, and then the present study classified Egyptian dress into type and form, quality of material and color tone, hair and headdress and other ornaments. Fundamentally, this study was intended to understand the traditional culture and to grasp the peculiarity of Egyptian dancing dress. This study was progressed as a theoretical research by using documents, photographs, literatures of museum, etc. The results of the study could be summarized as follows. Egyptian dancing featured the earliest form of stage dance in the world and improved religion dancing and sideshow dancing getting out of the form of primitive dance, and also there were professional dancers who developed highly skillful dancing technique. They played a role in disseminating it to many countries of the Mediterranean sea. Dancers of Egypt wore a variety of cloths like the general people. Accordingly, there were no big differences in qualify of material, color tone and other ornaments as well. Yet in accordance with improvement of dance, there was a show-up of clothing of professional dancers and changing of detail parts. So dancing dress was formed while distinguished from general clothing. Therefore, dancing dress of Egypt represents racial characteristics, activity, originality and pursues not authority, but respect of physical beauty or natural beauty.

  • Backgrounds & Objectives : Prolonged hearing loss was considered as one of the factors which have the potential to cause vocal changes. However, the analysis of quality of phonation in hearing loss patients has not been achieved enough. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the difference in objective acoustic parameters between long-term hearing impaired patients and normal control group. Material & Methods : The material of this investigation comprised a group of 20 patients (M : F=10 : 10) with moderate or profound hearing loss(over 50dB). The duration of all hearing loss was over 1 year. All of them underwent the acoustic examinations comprising electroglottography, multidimensional voice program and formant analysis during phonation of the bowels /a/ with free confortable tone and /i/ with voluntary high tone. The results of the acoustic examinations were compared with those of a control group, composed of 20 sex- and age-matched normal hearing subjects. Results : In the male hearing loss subjects, the significant increase was detected in pitch and shimmer during phonation of /a/ and in pitch during phonation of /i/. In addition, this group was characterized by decreased fundamental frequency during phonation of /i/. In female, there was no difference between hearing loss group and normal control group except a decreased formant 1 frequency. Conclusion : Long-term moderate and profound sensorineural hearing loss could affect the objective voice parameters.

  • Conclusion: The results of this study are encouraging for the development of a set of interpretable diagnostic criteria for a reasonably reliable identification of some species. The present study has been limited in the characteristics studied and was made on relatively poor photography. Further study on high quality photography, over wider areas and including such additional characteristics as crown texture and shadow intensity should prove useful. A preliminary examination has been made of some photo-image characteristics of a number of important tree species on large scale (1:9,000) contact prints of panchromatic mm. The characteristics studied were crown image tone, and shape. Image tone was estimated against a standard grey-scale and shows within-species consistency and a range between species. Crown shapes were subjectively assessed but there appears to be a within-species consistency and interpretable between-species differences. The results of this trial suggest that it should be practicable to make a number of important species distinctions by photo-interpretation with a useful degree of reliability. Other characteristics beside those studied might be usefully examined. Photography: Hand-printed glossy contact prints of vertical 1:9,000 scale panchromatic photography of Kwangnung Experimental Forest flown May 1964. The filter used is unknown (probably minus-blue). The camera is unknown but was probably a military type K-17 or K-22 with 6"(apostfophy) lens. The photography shows notably poor resolution. Species: 143 individual trees ranging through 11 species (7 softwood, 4 hardwood) were included in the study. A range of size classes were included for each species.

  • Background and Objectives : The complex physiologic structure of the larynx can vibrate in three or more different ways that yield acuostically and perceptually distinct vocal quality. The purpose of this study is to examine the normal range of voice parameters in Multi-Channel Phonatory Function Analyzer and investigate the difference of voice parameters according to the phonatory patterns. Materials and Methods : Forty normal adult speakers (20 men and 20 women) with age ranging from third to forth decades pronounce low, comfortable, and high tone /a/ ; comfortable tone /${\ae}$/, /i/, /o/, and /u/ : fry, falsetto. Voice was analyzed by Newly developed multi-channel phonatory function analyzer. Results : The normal range of voice parameters in this system was similar to the existing data. Fry shows high jitter and falsetto low SQ. Fry and falsetto show low OQ in men but no difference in women. Jitter, OQ and SQ were different between men and women in modal register, whereas there was no gender difference in fry and falsetto. In frequency magnitude spectrum and EGG, modal register, fry and falsetto have distinguishing pattern. Conclusions : Modal register, fry and falsetto are distinguishable in voice parameters and show different vibratory patterns.

  • A technique that uses linear prediction to achieve noise reduction in a voice signal which has been mixed with an ambient noise (Signal to Noise (S-N) ratio = about 0dB) is proposed. This noise reduction method which is based on the linear prediction estimates the voice spectrum while ignoring the spectrum of the noise. The performance of the noise reduction method is first examined using the transversal linear predictor filter. However, with this method there is deterioration in the tone quality of the predicted voice due to the low level of the S-N ratio. An additional processing circuit is then proposed so as to adjust the noise reduction circuit with an aim of improving the problem of tone deterioration. Next, we consider a practical application where the effects of round on errors arising from fixed-point computation has to be minimized. This minimization is achieved by using the lattice predictor filter which in comparison to the transversal type, is Down to be less sensitive to the round-off error associated with finite word length operations. Finally, we consider a practical application where noise reduction is necessary. In this noise reduction method, both the voice spectrum and the actual noise spectrum are estimated. Noise reduction is achieved by using the linear predictor filter which includes the control of the predictor filter coefficient’s update.

  • This paper presents a locally adaptive HDR algorithm using the integral image and MSRCR for LDR images with inadequate exposure. There are two categories in controlling the dynamic range, which are global and local tone mappings. Since the global ones are relatively simple but have some limitations at considering regional characteristics, the local ones are often utilized and MSRCR is a representative method. MSRCR gives moderate results, but it requires lots of computations for multi-scale surround Gaussian functions and produces the Halo effect around the edges. Therefore, in order to resolve these main problems, the proposed algorithm remarkably reduces the computation of the surrounds due to the use of the integral image. And a set of variable-sized windows is adopted to decrease the Halo effect, according to the type of pixel's region. In addition, an offset controlling function is presented, which is mainly affected to the subjective image quality and based on the global input and the desired output means. As the results, the proposed algorithm no more use Gaussian functions and can reduce the computation amount and the Halo effect.
