Tolerance Accumulation Analysis of ECV by Monte Carlo Simulation (몬테칼로 시뮬레이션을 이용한 ECV의 공차누적분석)

  • Tolerance accumulation has serious effect on the performance of an assembled body. This paper proposes the method which analyzes tolerance accumulation using Monte Carlo Simulation. This method can predict tolerance distribution of fully assembled body using the dimensional tolerance distribution of each part to be assembled. In this analysis, it is assumed that the tolerance of each part has the nominal distribution or uniform distribution. This analysis method is applied to ECV(External Control Valve), and the accumulated tolerance of the fully assembled ECV is obtained from the analysis. The results show that initial tolerance given to each part do not meet the design requirement of ECV. Hence, the tolerances of each part are modified and the additional analysis with the modified tolerances yields the results which satisfy the design requirements of ECV.

  • A general and efficient methodology has been developed to analyze dimensional variations of an assembly, taking into account of weld distortion. Weld distortion is generally probabilistic because of the random nature of welding parameters such as the welding speed, maximum welding temperature, ambient temperature, etc. The methodology is illustrated through a very simple example of two perpendicular plates fillet-welded to each other. Two steps comprise the methodology: establishment of a weld-distortion database, and tolerance analysis using the database. To establish the database, thermo-elasto-plastic finite element analyses are conducted to compute the weld distortion for all combinations of discrete values of major welding parameters. In the second step of tolerance analysis, the weld distortion retrieved from the database is used in addition to the dimensional tolerances of the parts. As a result of such an analysis, sensitivities of the assembly's dimensional variations to the part tolerances and weld distortion are obtained, which can be help improve the dimensional quality of the assembly.

Design Tolerance of High Speed Spindle considering the Variation of Ball Contact Angle in the Angular Contact Ball Bearings (고속 주축베어링의 볼 접촉각 변동을 고려한 주축 설계공차)

  • Angular contact ball bearings in a high speed spindles are under the extreme conditions, such as high temperature, big centrifugal force and thrust cutting forces. So, the assembly contacts between spindle shaft and inner ring bearings, bearing housing and outer ring of bearings are occasionally unstable at high speed revolution. Furthermore, the ball contact angle of a bearing, which influence stiffness and lifetime of bearings, are changed according to loads and rotational speed. To analyze internal forces of a bearing under high speed revolution, the ball contact are calculated using nonlinear equations in consideration of rotational speed, thrust loads and raceway form. Diameter increase of inner and outer ring by influence factors, such as internal forces to inner and outer ring, centrifugal force and temperature of inner and outer rings are calculated to establish stable state in bearing assembly in high speed spindle. Finally, contribution ratio of influence factor to assembly design tolerance of inner and outer rings are shown and the stable assembly design tolerance are proposed.

  • It is the basic requirement of design process of parts assembly to specify geometric dimensions and tolerances of product characteristics. Among them, tolerance stack analysis is one of the important methods to specify tolerance zone. Tolerance stack analysis is to calculate gap using tolerances which includes geometric and coordinate dimensions. In this study, we suggested more general method called the virtual method to analyze tolerance stack. In virtual method, tolerance zone is formed by combination of dimensional tolerance, geometric tolerance and bonus tolerance. Also tolerance zone is classified by virtual boundary condition and resultant boundary condition. So gap can be defined by combination of virtual boundary and/or resultant boundary. Several examples are used to show the effectiveness of new method comparing to other methods.

  • 여기에선, M.F.Spotts가 사용한 생산비식을 써서, 현재 KIST 정밀기계기술센터에서 시작개발 하고있는 평면연삭기의 상기 문제점에 응용해 보기로 했다. 즉, 평면연삭기의 최종정밀도에 관련 된 문제를 제기하고 그에 필요한 식을 유도한 후, 그것의 각 부품치수가 어떻나 공차 범위내에 들면 최종정밀도를 만족시키고 또한 가공비를 감소시킬 수 있는가 하는 문제의 해결을 시도해 보았다.

  • This paper presents the optimum design of the brushless motor to maximize the output power per weight considering the design parameter tolerance. The optimization is proceeded by commercial software that is adopted the scatter-search algorithm and the characteristic analysis is conducted by FEM. The stochastic optimum design results are compared with those of the deterministic optimization method. We can verify that the results of the stochastic optimization is superior than that of deterministic optimization.

  • In this paper, dimension tolerance design for components is studied. Three cost factors are considered: machining cost, rework cost, and loss related to product quality which is affected by the tolerances of components. We propose a procedure to determine the optimal tolerances of components and a, pp.y the procedure to design the tolerances of fine motion stage in semicoduct machine. We compare the proposed procedure with the existing model for determining tolerance economically.

  • In this paper, a pattern/position tolerance analysis is visited on the insert to mount spacecraft electronic equipment. SQP(Sequential Quadratic Programming) is used to obtain the position tolerance. For examples, the cases of RDU(Remote Drive Unit) and OBC(On Board Computer) in the KOMPSAT-2 STM(Structure and Thermal Model) are analyzed.
