Measurement of Orbit using Standardized Processing of CT Scan

  • Purpose Surgical correction of various occular problems which do not have visual problem in plastic surgical area is to normalize the appearance of the face by restoring the normal position of orbit and eyeball. With development of surgical technique, the orbit can be restored exactly in trauma patient and can be moved totally in hypertelorism, as an example of congenital disease. All these surgeries are based on the hypothesis that the position of oclular glove moves in the plane in a quantitatively predictable reationship to osseous orbit movement. However, no studies have critically evaluated between the change of periorbital soft tissue and the outcome of the surgical correction, because there is no method of objective, quantitave evaluation of the periorbital soft tissue. Method Author suggest the methodology for quantitative assessment of ocular and periocular fat changes using the manipulation of digital images of computed tomographic scan. Results The method was allowed to evaluate inter-dacryon distance, inter-centroid distance, movement of the medial orbital wall, movement of the lateral orbital wall, alteration of thickness of the lateral periorbital fat as indicator of movement of the orbital wall and orbit in the patient with congenital periorbital anomaly and postoperative periorbital surgery. Conclusion The method suggested is objective and accurate method in measurement of the orbital contents. It takes time and is not easy to do, however, this kind of measurement for fine structures will be more easily available in near future.

  • 방사선치료에서 결손조직의 보호를 위해 사용되는 기존의 결손조직 보상체는 체표윤곽을 얻기위해 컴퓨터단층촬영영상이나 자기공명촬영영상등의 의료영상을 이용해 왔다. 하지만 이러한 촬영을 위해서는 고가의 비용이 소요되고 방사선치료에 따른 체표윤곽의 변화에 적절히 대응하지 못하는 등의 단점이 지적되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 사용이 간편한 디지털 카메라로 환자를 촬영한 후 얻은 2차원 이미지를 이용하여 결손조직 보상체를 제작하고 이의 유용성 평가를 위해 기하학적, 선량학적 평가를 수행하였다. 그 결과, 조직결손을 보정하고 정상조직을 보호할 수 있어 임상적용의 가능성을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 신장조직 영상에서 사구체 영역을 자동적으로 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 사구체 조직은 신장의 상태를 나타내는 많은 정보를 포함하고 있기 때문에 사구체 영역의 추출은 신장 검사를 자동화하기 위한 첫 번째 단계이다. 그러나 사구체 영역을 단순한 2치화 방법으로 직접 추출함은 어려운 일이다. 이에 본 연구자들은 우선, 가우스 함수에 의한 원영상의 빛바랜 영상을 동적인 임계값으로 사용함으로써 원영상을 2치화한다. 다음으로, 획득한 영상으로부터 간단한 영상처리 기법에 의한 사구체 영역의 경계 에지를 포함하는 모든 에지를 추출한다. 그 다음으로 사구체 영역의 경계 에지를 판별함으로써 사구체 영역을 추출하였다. 이 방법은 다수의 샘플에 적용해서 유효성을 확인한 바 양호한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 공중 화장실 관리자는 화장실 휴지잔량을 지속적으로 확인할 수 없기 때문에 휴지를 다 쓴 경우 곧바로 채워놓지 못하는 경우가 발생한다. 또한 이럴 경우, 사용자는 미처 휴지가 없음을 확인하지 못하고 볼 일을 보게 되면 당황스러운 상황을 겪게 될 수도 있다. 본 논문에서는 공중 화장실 각각의 휴지잔량을 실시간으로 확인할 수 있는 표시기와 전체 화장실의 휴지잔량을 모니터링 할 수 있는 시스템의 개발내용에 대해 기술한다. 이 시스템을 활용함으로써 사용자는 화장실 사용 전에 직관적으로 휴지잔량을 알 수 있게 되며, 관리자는 직접 화장실을 방문하지 않더라고 휴지가 없는 곳의 알림을 통해 바로 채워줄 수 있게 될 것이다.

  • 암의 진행 정도를 판단하기 위한 암세포 조직영상의 분석은 그 대상이 되는 영상의 다양성과 잡음으로 인해 정확한 분석이 어렵다. 특히, 암의 진행 정도를 판단하는데 있어서 중요한 요인인 세포핵의 variation에 따른 order/disorder 정도를 객관적 수치로 정량화하기 위해서는, 각 기(stage)에 따른 암의 진행정도를 가장 잘 나타낼 수 있는 특징값 추출이 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 가장 유효한 특징값을 추출하기 위하여, 공간 영역과 주파수 영역에서 그 지역적 특징을 잘 나타내는 wavelet 변환을 적용한 후, 분할 된 서브 밴드 중 고대역 서브 밴드에서 질감 특징을 추출하고, 추출 된 질감 특징값들이 암의 진행 정도에 따른 각 집단간에 유의한 차이를 나타내는지에 대한 유의성을 검증하기 위하여, 다변량 통계학적 분석 방법을 사용하여 비교분석 하였다.

  • Accurately identifying brain tumors is crucial for medical imaging's precise diagnosis and treatment planning. This study presents a novel approach that uses cutting-edge image processing techniques to automatically segment brain tumors. with the use of the Pyramid Network algorithm. This technique accurately and robustly delineates tumor borders in MRI images. Our strategy incorporates special algorithms that efficiently address problems such as tumor heterogeneity and size and shape fluctuations. An assessment using the RESECT Dataset confirms the validity and reliability of the method and yields promising results in terms of accuracy and computing efficiency. This method has a great deal of promise to help physicians accurately identify tumors and assess the efficacy of treatments, which could lead to higher standards of care in the field of neuro-oncology.

THE STDUY OF THE RELAPSE OF HARD AND SOFT TISSUE AFTER MAXILLARY PROTRACTION (상악골 전방견인 후 경조직과 연조직의 재발에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this stdudy was to evaluate the effect of maxillary protraction and the relapse of hard and soft tissue after maxillary protraction. For this study 29 patients who were treated with maxillary protractor and labiolingual archwire were selected. Their mean age was 9 years 4 months and mean treatment period was 8.5 months. Lateral cephalograms were taken at pretreatment, immediately after treatment and one to three months after removal of the maxillary protractor. They were traced on skeletodental and soft tissue structures based on Burstone's analysis and analyzed by Quick-Ceph Image Digitizing System(ORTHODONTIC PROCESSING). The mean and standard deviation between pretreatment and posttreatment and between posttreatment and retention period for each cephalometric variable were calculated. Student t-test was used to determine the statistical significance of the changes in each variable. Correlation coefficients between hard tissue and soft tissue were used to determine interrelationship. The results were as follows. 1. After maxillayy protraction, the maxilla and maxillary dentition moved antero-inferiorly, the mandibld and mandibular dentition moved postero-interiorly and palatal plane rotated antero-superiorly by $0.59^{\circ}$. 2. After maxillary protraction, the soft tissue of upper lip moved antero-interiorly with the movement of hard tissue but the antero-posterior position of lower lip was stable in spite of the change of hard tissue. The thickness of upper lip was decreased and that of lower lip was increased after maxillary Protraction. 3. During the retention period, the position of jaws was relatively stable but upper and lower anterior teeth and antero-superiorly rotated palatal plane relapsed to original position. 4. During the retention period, the soft tissue of lips was stable antero-posteriorly and moved mote inferiorly than posttreatment. 5. The correlation coefficients between the postion of upper and lower incisal edge and that position of lips were high, especially in horizontal change.

Color Image Analysis of Histological tissue Sections (해부병리조직에 대한 칼라 영상분석)

  • In this paper, we suggest a new direct method for mage segmentation using texture and color information combined through a multivariate linear discriminant algorithm. The color texture is computed in nin 3${\times}$3 masks obtained from each 3${\times}$3${\times}$3 spatio-spectral neighborhood in the image using the classical haralick and Pressman texture features. Among these 9${\times}$28 texture features the best set was extracted from a training set. The resulting set of 10 features were used to segment an image into four different regions. The resulting segmentation was Compared to classical color and texture segmentation methods using both box classifiers and maximum likelihood classification. It compared favourably on the test image from a Fastred-Lightgreen stained prostatic histological tissue section based on visual inspection. The classification accuracy of 97.5% for the new method obtained on the training data was also among the best of the tested methods. If these results hold for a larger set of images, this method should be a useful tool for segmenting images where both color and texture are relevant for the segmentation process.
