연비향상을 위한 하이브리드 엔진 시스템 모델 개발과 최적화에 관한 연구 (Development and Optimization of the Hybrid Engine System Model to Improve the Fuel Economy)

  • The purpose of this study is development of universal engine model for integrated Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) simulator and a optimization of engine model. The engine model of this study is based on the MATLAB Simulink for universal and include engine fuel economy technologies for HEV. Various engine fuel economy technologies for HEV is estimated by commercial engine 1-D simulation program - WAVE. And, the 1-D simulation model of base version is compared with engine experiment result. The analyzed engine technologies with 1-D simulation are Dual-CVVT, Atkinson-Cycle and Cylinder-Deactivation System. There are improvement of fuel economy and power performance with Dual-CVVT model at part load and full load, pumping loss reduction with Cylinder-Deactivation System at idle and regeneration. Each estimated technologies are analyzed by 1-D simulation on all operation region for base data to converse simulink. The simulink based engine model maintains a signal with ECU for determination of engine operation point.

  • We investigated the energistics of the physiological heart model by comparing predictive indexes of the myocardial oxygen consumption (MOC), such as tension-time index (R), tension-time or force-time inteual (FTI), rate-pressure product (RPP), pressure-work index, and systolic pressure-volume area (PVA) when using the electro-hydraulic left ventricular device (LVAD). We developed the model of LVAD incorporated the closed-loop cardiovascular system with a baroreceptor which can control heart rate and time-varying elastance of left and right ventricles. On considering the benefit of the LVAD, the effects of various operation modes, especially timing of assistance, were evaluated using this coupled computer model. Overall results of the computer simulation shows that our LVAD can unload the ischemic (less contractile) heart by decreasing the MU and increasing coronary flow. Because the pump ejection at the end diastolic phase of the natural heart may increase the afterload of the left ventricle, the control scheme of our LVAD must prohibit ejecting at this time. Since the increment of coronary flow is proportional to the peak aortic pressure after ventricle contraction, the LVAD must eject immediately following the closure of the aortic valve to increase oxygen availability.

Internal modifications to reduce pollutant emissions from marine engines. A numerical approach

  • Taking into account the increasingly stringent legislation on emissions from marine engines, this work aims to analyze several internal engine modifications to reduce $NO_x$ (nitrogen oxides) and other pollutants. To this end, a numerical model was employed to simulate the operation cycle and characterize the exhaust gas composition. After a preliminary validation process was carried out using experimental data from a four-stroke, medium-speed marine engine, the numerical model was employed to study the influence of several internal modifications, such as water addition from 0 to 100% water to fuel ratios, exhaust gas recirculation from 0 to 100% EGR rates, modification of the overlap timing from 60 to $120^{\circ}$, modification of the intake valve closing from 510 to $570^{\circ}$, and modification of the cooling water temperature from 70 to $90^{\circ}C$. $NO_x$ was reduced by nearly 100%. As expected, it was found that, by lowering the combustion temperature, there is a notable reduction in $NO_x$, but an increase in CO (carbon monoxide), HC (hydrocarbons) and consumption.

  • 겨울철 한파로 인한 수도계량기의 동파는 수돗물 공급 중지, 유출된 후 결빙에 따른 각종 안전사고 유발 및 복구에 따른 비용 발생 등 여러 가지 불편과 문제를 야기시킨다. 본 연구에서는 수도계량기가 실제 동파가 발생되는 환경과 유사한 시험장치를 개발하여 동파영향인자인 온도, 습도, 유량, 압력, 밸브개도, 펌프 가동상태 등을 변화시켜 반복시험을 수행하고자 한다. 이를 통해 얻어지는 데이터를 기반으로 동파 영향인자 간 상관관계를 AI 기술을 적용해 동파시기를 예측하고자 한다.

  • 국제해사기구 해양환경보호위원회에서 그린하우스가스(GHG)의 주범인 CO2 배출량 감축을 위해 선박에서 대기로 방출하는 CO2의 양을 지수화 하고자 활발한 논의가 진행되고 있다. 이에 따라 에너지 효율 개선을 위해서 선체의 설계변경, 마찰저항을 줄이기 위한 도료개발, 엔진의 열효율을 개선하기 위한 첨가제 개발, 연료를 절감하기 위하여 저속운전 등 다양한 방법들이 적용되고 있다. 선박의 주 기관에서는 전 부하영역에서 효율을 높이기 위하여 전자엔진이 사용되고 있으나, 선박용 발전기 엔진은 여전히 캠으로 연료분사와 흡 배기 밸브를 구동하는 기계식 작동엔진이 대부분이다. 또한 선박용 발전기 엔진은 선박의 과부하 방지 시스템 내에서 운전되므로 대부분의 운전은 80% 이하의 부분부하 영역에서 사용되고 있다. 따라서 100%부하에 세팅된 발전기 엔진은 부분부하에서 효율적인 운전을 위해서는 연료분사시기 재조정이 필요하다. 본 연구는 현재 운항중인 선박발전용 디젤엔진의 운용특성을 파악하여 부분부하에서 연료분사시기 재조정을 통하여 연료소비량 개선에 관한 결과를 보고 하고자 한다.

  • This paper is the first investigation on the effect of flow control methods on the part load performance in a spark ignition engine. For comparison of the methods, two control devices, port throttling and masking, were applied to a conventional engine without any design change of the intake port. Steady flow evaluation shows that steady flow rates per unit opening area and swirl ratio are very low compared with the port throttling and saturated from mid-stage valve lift, however, swirl increases slightly as the lift is higher in case of 1/4 masking control. In the part load performance, the effect of simple port throttling on lean misfire limit expansion is limited and insufficient; on the other hand a masking improves the limit considerably without any port modification for increasing swirl. Also the results show that the intake flow control improves the combustion with following two mechanisms: stratification induced by the combination of the flow pattern and the fuel injection timing attribute to ignition ability and the intensified flow ensure fast burn. In addition fuel consumption reduces under the flow controls and the reduction rate is different according to the operation conditions and control methods. At the Stoichiometric and/or low speed and low load the throttling method is more advantageous; however vice versa at lean and high load condition. Finally, the throttling is more efficient for HC reduction than masking, on the other side the NOx emissions increase under the masking and decrease under the port throttling compared with conventional port scheme.

3-연소실형 GDI Engine의 성능 및 배기 배출물 특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Characteristics of Performance and Exhaust Emissions of 3-Chamber GDI Engine)

  • Recently gasoline direct injection method has been applied to gasoline engine to reduce fuel consumption rate by controlling fuel air mixture on lean condition by means of stratified charging, and to reduce simultaneously. Pollutant emissions especially NOx and CO by lowering the combustion temperature. But difficulty of controling local fuel air ratio at ignition area in flammability limit unavoidably appeared, because it is merely controlled by injection timing with spatial and temporal distribution of fuel mixture. In this study, the authors devised a uniquely shaped combustion chamber so called three-chamber GDI engine, intended to keep the more reliable fuel air ratio at ignition area. The combustion chamber is divided into three regions. The first region is in the rich combustion division, where the fuel is injected from the fuel injection valve and ignited by the spark plug. The second region is in the lean combustion division, where the combustion gas from the rich combustion division flows out and burns on lean condition. And the last region is in the main combustion division ie in the cylinder, where the gas from the above two combustion divisions mixed together and completes the combustion during expansion stroke. They found that the stable range of operation of three-chamber GDI engine on low-load condition exists in the lean area of average equivalence ratio. And they also found that the reformed engine reveals less specific fuel consumption and less pollutant emissions compared with conventional carburettor type gasoline engine.

활동성 심내막염에 대한 조기 수술의 단기 성적 (Short-Term Results of Early Surgery for Active Infective Endocarditis)

  • 활동성 심내막염의 외과적 치료시기에 대해서는 아직 논란의 여지가 있지만 최근에는 조기 수술에 대한 좋은 보고들이 있다. 이에 저자들은 활동성 심내막염에 대한 수술 결과를 수술 전 항생제 사용기간에 따라 분석해 보았다. 대상 및 방법 : 1995년 3월부터 2001년 10월까지 활동성 심내막염으로 삼성서울병원 흉부외과에서 수술 받은 환자 51명에 대해서 후향적으로 분석을 하였다 남녀 성비는 39 : 12였고, 평균 연령은 44.5$\pm$17.8세(범위 13~74세)였다. 감염된 판막은 승모판막이 17례(33.3%), 대동맥판막이 15례(29.4%), 승모판막 및 대동맥 판막이 12례(23.5%), 삼첨판막이 5례(9.8%)였다. 그 중 인공판막 심내막염이 10례(19.6%)였다. 감염 균주는 포도상구균이 19례(37.3%), 연쇄상구균이 17례(33.3%), 장내구균이 3례(5.9%), 진균이 3례(5.9%), 기타균이 5례(9.8%), 균주가 동정되지 않은 경우가 6례(11.8%)였으며, 4례(7.8%)에서는 2가지 균주가 동정되었다. 이 환자들을 수술 전 항생제 사용기간에 따라 2군으로(A : 7일 이하, B : 8일 이상) 나누어 두 군간의 수술 성적을 비교하였다. 결과 : A군은 16명이었으며 B군은 35명이었다. 판막륜 재건을 A군에서는 10례(62.5%), B군에서 10례(28.6%)로 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(p < 0.05). 수술 후 조기 사망은 B에서 1례 있었다. 2명을 제외한 49명(96.1%)의 환자에서 추적관찰이 이루어졌으며, 평균 추적관찰 기간은 28.7 $\pm$ 23.6개월로 재발은 A군에서 1례, B군에서 2례 있었다. 만기 사망은 B군에서 3례에서 있었다. 재발률과 생존율 모두 두 군에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다. 결론 : 활동성 심내막염에서 조기 수술하는 경우도 수술 전항생제를 충분히 사용한 경우와 비슷한 좋은 결과를 보여 활동성 심내막염의 조기 외과적 치료가 효과적으로 감염을 제거할 수 있다고 사료된다.
