In general, the image of interlaced side-by-side (SBS) streams is not good because it goes through two reconstruction steps-de-interlacing and horizontal interpolation. Especially the accuracy of horizontal resolution is greatly deteriorated as processed de-interlacing value is used for reference of interpolated pixel at time of horizontal interpolation. To solve this problem, we propose an improved method considering interlaced SBS stream's characteristics. In this paper, we adopted two separate methods to transmitted line and blank line for using reliable information. The experimental result of the proposed method is better than the conventional algorithm in terms of subjective and objective image quality.

This paper provides a method for video augmentation using image interpolation. In computer graphics or augmented reality, 3D information of a model object is necessary to generate 2D views of the model, which are then inserted into or overlayed on environmental views or real video frames. However, we do not require any three dimensional model but images of the model object at some locations to render views according to the motion of video camera which is calculated by an SFM algorithm using point matches under weak-perspective (scaled-orthographic) projection model. Thus, a linear view interpolation algorithm is applied rather than a 3D ray-tracing method to get a view of the model at different viewpoints from model views. In order to get novel views in a way that agrees with the camera motion the camera coordinate system is embedded into model coordinate system at initialization time on the basis of 3D information recovered from video images and model views, respectively. During the sequence, motion parameters from video frames are used to compute interpolation parameters, and rendered model views are overlayed on corresponding video frames. Experimental results for real video frames and model views are given. Finally, discussion on the limitations of the method and subjects for future research are provided.
Statistical interpolation which uses past experience about the behaviour of the atmosphere(correlation function) to interpolate the observations irregularly distributed in space and time to regular grids is discussed. Correlation functions are computed in the Far East Asian region during the winter periods of December 1977 to February 1980. Results show from the computation of correlation functions that there exists a large difference in the autocorrelation functions by slowly decreasing geopotential height and temperature, and rapidly decreasing wind and mixing ratio with increasing data-correlation functions between geopotential height and wind are well corresponed to persistence of wintertime synoptic features.
Geotechnical data contributes substantially to the cost of engineering projects due to increasing cost of site investigations. Existing information in the form of soil maps can save considerable time and expenses while deciding the scope and extent of site exploration for a proposed project site. This paper presents spatial interpolation of data obtained from soil investigation reports of different construction sites and development of soil maps for geotechnical characterization of Multan area using ArcGIS. The subsurface conditions of the study area have been examined in terms of soil type and standard penetration resistance. The Inverse Distance Weighting method in the Spatial Analyst extension of ArcMap10 has been employed to develop zonation maps at different depths of the study area. Each depth level has been interpolated as a surface to create zonation maps for soil type and standard penetration resistance. Correlations have been presented based on linear regression of standard penetration resistance values with depth for quick estimation of strength and stiffness of soil during preliminary planning and design stage of a proposed project in the study area. Such information helps engineers to use data derived from nearby sites or sites of similar subsoils subjected to similar geological process to build a preliminary ground model for a new site. Moreover, reliable information on geometry and engineering properties of underground layers would make projects safer and economical.

The synthetic aperture radar(SAR) is an equipment that can acquire images in all weathers day and night based on radar signals. The on-board processor of satellite SAR generates transmission signal by digital signal processing, converts it into an analog signal and transmits to antenna. Until the transmission signal generated by on-board processor is output, the signal passes the transmission cables and analog devices. At this time, these hardware distort the signal and makes SAR performance worse. To improve the performance, pre-distortion technique is used. But, general pre-distortion using taylor series is not sufficient to compensate for the distortion. This paper suggests transmit signal design method with improved pre-distortion. This paper uses envelop sampling method and interpolation filter for frequency domain compensation. The proposed method accurately compensates the hardware distortion and reduces resource usage of FPGA. To analyze proposed method's performance, IRF characteristics are compared when the proposed method applies to signal with errors.

The unit price contracting is the standard contracting method for highway projects in the U.S. As a result, state highway agencies have collected a large amount of historical bid data that they can use to determine engineer's estimates for future projects. The estimator must carefully consider various characteristics of a new project such as its location to determine an engineer's estimate as accurate as possible before bid letting. Higher cost estimates can result in the loss of the available budget and lower cost estimates may lead to deferral and delay of projects. The study uses the historical bid data obtained from Iowa Department of Transportation and develops a Geographic Information System (GIS) tool to visually show the variation of unit prices over the map using a spatial interpolation technique. The interpolation map can be used to estimate the unit price of the item at any location across Iowa. This noble method allows the estimator to effectively and fully utilize the historical bid data in a very time efficient manner and determine more accurate cost estimation.

To plan a GPS survey, they have to decide if a survey can be conducted at a specific point and time based on the predicted GPS ephemeris. In this study, to predict ephemeris, we used the repeat time of a GPS satellite. The GPS satellite repeat time was determined by analysing correlation among three-dimensional satellite coordinates provided by the 48-hour GPS ephemeris in the ultra-rapid orbits. By using the calculated repeat time and Lagrange interpolation polynomials, we predicted GPS orbits f3r seven days. As a result, the RMS of the maximum errors in the X, Y, and Z coordinates were 39.8 km 39.7 km and 19.6 km, respectively. And the maximum and average three-dimensional positional errors were 119.5 km and 48.9 km, respectively. When the maximum 3-D positioning error of 119.5 km was translated into the view angle error, the azimuth and elevation angle errors were 9.7'and 14.9', respectively.
Achievement of a straight line motion in the Cartesian space has a matter of great importance. Minimization of task execution time with linear interpolation in the joint space, accomplishing of a approximation of straight line motion in the Cartesian coordinate is considered as the prespecified task. Such determination yields minimum time joint-trajectory subject to input torque constraints. The applications of these results for joint-trajectory planning of a two-link manipulator with revolute joints are demonstrated by computer simulations.

This study proposes that the Phase Linearization Interpolation is higher efficency than the existed Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing system in the Multipath channels time-varient. Also, it showed that time domain equalization is better than the existed frequency domain equalization about the calculation and efficency for clear Inter Carrier Interference of the doppler effect.
Location information of mobile objects is applied to vehicle tracking, digital battlefields, location based services, and telematics. Their location coordinates are periodically measured and stored in the application systems. The linear function is mainly used to estimate the location information that is not in the system at the query time point. However, a new method is needed to improve uncertainties of the location representation, because the location estimation by linear function induces the estimation error. This paper proposes an application method of the cubic spline interpolation in order to reduce deviation of the location estimation by linear function. First, we define location information of the mobile object moving on the two-dimensional space. Next, we apply the cubic spline interpolation to location estimation of the proposed data model and describe algorithm of the estimation operation. Finally, the precision of this estimation operation model is experimented. The experimentation comes out more accurate results than the method by linear function, although the proposed location estimation function uses the small amount of information. The proposed method has an advantage that drops the cost of data storage space and communication for the management of location information of the mobile objects.
