  • In this paper, we consider the methodology of efficient resource usage, specially web clustering system. We develope an algorithm that distributes the load on the web cluster system to use the system resources, such as system memory equally. The response time is chosen as a performance measure on the various clustering models. And based on the concurrent user to the web cluster system, the response time is also examined as the number of users increases. Simulation experience with this algorithm shows that the response time seems to have a good results compare to those with the other algorithm. And, also the effectiveness of clustered system becomes better as long as the number of concurrent user increases. The usage of developed algorithm is more useful when the system consists of many different sub-systems, a heterogeneous clustering system.

  • In this paper, we propose a new adaptive intrusion detection algorithm based on clustering: Kernel-ART, which is composed of the on-line clustering algorithm, ART (adaptive resonance theory), combining with mercer-kernel and concept vector. Kernel-ART is not only satisfying all desirable characteristics in the context of clustering-based IDS but also alleviating drawbacks associated with the supervised learning IDS. It is able to detect various types of intrusions in real-time by means of generating clusters incrementally.

  • Various wireless sensor network protocols have been proposed to maintain the network for a long time by minimizing energy consumption. Using the K-means clustering algorithm takes longer to cluster than traditional hierarchical algorithms because the center point must be moved repeatedly until the final cluster is established. For K-means clustering-based protocols, only the residual energy of nodes or nodes near the center point of the cluster is considered when the cluster head is elected. In this paper, we propose a new wireless sensor network protocol based on K-means clustering to improve the energy efficiency while improving the aforementioned problems.

  • Cross-domain recommendation is a method that shares related user information data and item data in different domains. It is mainly used in online shopping malls with many users or multimedia service contents, such as YouTube or Netflix. Through K-means clustering, embeddings are created by performing clustering based on user data and ratings. After learning the result through a transformer network, user satisfaction is predicted. Then, items suitable for the user are recommended using a transformer-based recommendation model. Through this study, it was shown through experiments that recommendations can predict cold-start problems at a lesser time cost and increase user satisfaction.

  • This paper presents a computational model on the transfer of airborne fine particles to analyze the similarities and influences among the 25 districts in Seoul by quantifying a time series data collected from each district. The properties of each district are driven with the model of a time series of the fine particle concentrations, and the calculation of edge-based weights are carried out with the transfer entropies between all pairs of the districts. We applied a modularity-based graph clustering technique to detect the communities among the 25 districts. The result indicates the discovered clusters correspond to a high transfer-entropy group among the communities with geographical adjacency or high in-between traffic volumes. We believe that this approach can be further extended to the discovery of significant flows of other indicators causing environmental pollution.

  • In a modern society, people are concerned seriously about their travel destinations depending on time, economic problem. In this paper, we propose an non-hierarchical clustering based hybrid recommendation using context knowledge. The proposed method is personalized way of recommended knowledge about preferred travel places according to the user's location, place, and weather. Based on 14 attributes from the data collected through the survey, users with similar characteristics are grouped using a non-hierarchical clustering based hybrid recommendation. This makes more accurate recommendation by weighting implicit and explicit data. The users can be recommended a preferred travel destination without spending unnecessary time. The performance evaluation uses accuracy, recall, F-measure. The evaluation result was shown 0.636 accuracy, 0.723 recall, and 0.676 F-measure.

  • Data clustering is one of the most difficult and challenging problems and can be formally considered as a particular kind of NP-hard grouping problems. The K-means algorithm is one of the most popular and widely used clustering method because it is easy to implement and very efficient. However, it has high possibility to trap in local optimum and high variation of solutions with different initials for the large data set. Therefore, we need study efficient computational intelligence method to find the global optimal solution in data clustering problem within limited computational time. The objective of this paper is to propose a combined artificial bee colony (CABC) with K-means for initialization and finalization to find optimal solution that is effective on data clustering optimization problem. The artificial bee colony (ABC) is an algorithm motivated by the intelligent behavior exhibited by honeybees when searching for food. The performance of ABC is better than or similar to other population-based algorithms with the added advantage of employing fewer control parameters. Our proposed CABC method is able to provide near optimal solution within reasonable time to balance the converged and diversified searches. In this paper, the experiment and analysis of clustering problems demonstrate that CABC is a competitive approach comparing to previous partitioning approaches in satisfactory results with respect to solution quality. We validate the performance of CABC using Iris, Wine, Glass, Vowel, and Cloud UCI machine learning repository datasets comparing to previous studies by experiment and analysis. Our proposed KABCK (K-means+ABC+K-means) is better than ABCK (ABC+K-means), KABC (K-means+ABC), ABC, and K-means in our simulations.

  • A reliable analysis of consumer preference from a large amount of purchase data acquired in real time and an accurate customer characterization technique are essential for successful direct marketing campaigns. In this study, an optimal segmentation of post office customers in Korea is performed using a subspace projection-based clustering method to generate an accurate customer characterization from a high-dimensional census dataset. Moreover, a traditional temporal mining method is extended to an algorithm using the MapReduce framework for a consumer preference analysis. The experimental results show that it is possible to use parallel mining through a MapReduce-based algorithm and that the execution time of the algorithm is faster than that of a traditional method.

  • In this paper, we suggest an energy-efficient clustering scheme based on cross-layer design in wireless sensor networks. The proposed scheme works adequately for the characteristic environment of the networks. In the proposed clustering scheme, we separate clusters composed of sensor nodes in the event area from clusters of the other area when an event occurs by using an application layer information. We can save energy from multiple paths through multiple clusters to deliver the same event. We also suggest TDMA scheduling for non-evented clusters. In the scheduling, we allocate one time slot for each node to save energy. The suggested clustering scheme can increase the lifetime of the entire network. We show that our scheme is energy efficient through simulation in terms of the frequency of event occurrences, the event continual time and the scope.

  • Many papers have shown that the hierarchical clustering method takes good-performance, but is limited because of its quadratic time complexity. In contrast, with a large number of variables, K-means reduces a time complexity. Think of the factor of simplify, high-quality and high-efficiency, we combine the two approaches providing a new system named CONDOR system with hierarchical structure based on document clustering using K-means algorithm. Evaluated the performance on different hierarchy depth and initial uncertain centroid number based on variational relative document amount correspond to given queries. Comparing with regular method that the initial centroids have been established in advance, our method performance has been improved a lot.
